“Lovely get-away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in room 9 (upper level). The room was large, clean, comfortable and well appointed ( even patio-safe dishes and wine glasses in addition to regular red and white wine glasses). Breakfasts were great with granola, muesli, fruit, nuts, yoghurt, fresh pastries, breads and choice of 3 hot offerings (quiches, eggs, frittatas, etc). Our dinners in the restaurant were delicious, as were the suggested wine pairings. Staff offered to package up our desserts to take back to our room. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Early morning walk (hike) through the vinyards was very enjoyable and invigorating. Weather was cool and rainy so we didn't use the pool. My only quibble, no exercise room. Close to many other wineries. Halfway between Oliver and Osoyoos.

Stayed here 3 days and hiked and toured the Okanagan Valley. This is a great location to reach many of the fine wineries easliy. Had some great hikes starting in the vineyard and ending up in a nearby wildlife refuge. Good bird watching. The breakfast buffet was excellent and dinner in the Sonora Room was memorable. Our room was beyond our expectations. Highly recommend!!

We enjoyed a 3 night stay in early May. Our very spacious & comfortable room was beautifully appointed & we felt the proprietors had thought of every luxurious detail. We had a fabulous 3 course dinner at the Sonora & delicious breakfasts each morning. Every staff member throughout the Burrowing Owl establishment was friendly & efficient ~ front desk, housekeeping, dining room, breakfast & wine shop. We have stayed at other resorts in the area & Burrowing Owl is by far the best. The views & ambiance are unique. We would like to return when the pool is open. No need to go to Tuscany or Provence!

Visited Burrowing Owl today for lunch, the service was excellent, the food was very well presented and very tasty. The wine excellent. Their desserts were to die for. The view from the patio was spectacular. It was a beautiful day 33 degrees. A very nice spot to visit for a quiet non rushed luncheon.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

We arrived here mid afternoon in April just to do some tasting. There area including the guest house area was being worked on as was the general area outside so clearly some development work was going on and that meant that the tasting room was actually just off the guest house area. The lady serving us was really interesting and we paid our fee to taste the wines. Please note that it is a charitable donation as such. There is also a new chef or somebody (sorry cannot remember who he was referred to) who was clearly anxious about getting the Oyster festival right. This is a great drive up to the premises, even better going down afterwards and parking is good. We enjoyed the samples and as there was only one other couple who joined us part way through there was no need to rush and therefore we were able to talk about things such as scotch whisky, and old world wines. It was interesting also to hear about the increasing use of non American or French oak in barrels and the impact this is having on the wines. The quality is very good and we bought a number of bottles. We were also informed of other places that were open and this shows clearly that the wine growing community is also interested in ensuring that others are given due consideration and also congratulated on the wines that they produced and she indicated a number that we should try to get to, if it was possible. Maybe, if time allowed, we might stay next time as we have family who live nearby and perhaps this would be appropriate for a celebration.

Room Tip: We did not stay but the development work is hopefully only going to improve the experience especiall...

We visited the vineyard in November and arrived 40 minutes before closing. We were rushed and although six wines were included in their charge (only vineyard we visited that levied a charge) we given dregs and told others not available. Wines that were tasted were too young and the staff the lady that served us rather brusque. We are ex wine trade and were really looking forward to this visit which was disappointing. I think to charge is perfectly acceptable as this is a business but value is paramount.

I stress we did not stay here and this is no reflection on what looked like excellent accommodation
