After taking a peak in the afternoon before and having folks tell us that Nancy's was the only place in town for good coffee, we decided to forego the free continental breakfast at the hotel and go to Nancy's to fuel up for our kayak trip.
The first thing you see when you walk in is a real bakery with everything visible and happy staff. Then there is the case of cinnamon buns. Not sticky buns or wimpy pastries but real buns with a huge variety of wholesome and not-so wholesome fillings. Think blackberries, raspberry, chocolate almond, cinnamon - bring a group so you can try them all. We took some buns with us at the start of our kayak trip and rushed in 5 days later at the end of the day to get some more to take home for our kids. Ok and for me too.
The breakfast was pretty good. Mexican scrambled eggs and apple bread French toast were both very good. The eggs Benedict on salmon was nice, but the eggs were over-cooked. Now comes the point when you find out about service - when we told them the eggs were overcooked, they immediately brought a fruit bowl to "tide us over", and soon thereafter the cook herself brought out replacement eggs with a big apology.
The bakery has a small town feel and a welcoming atmosphere in a town that has a mix of locals and itinerant boat travellers. The bakery was about being local, healthy with lots of whole grain choices, and friendly. Definitely a must stop when going anywhere near Lund.
