Description: Famed locally for its quality, home-made, food, the Quarter Penny Café is a landmark in the heart of the beautiful market town of Cowbridge.Formerly known as ‘Farthings’, the restaurant was sold in 2009 but was bought back exactly a year later by long-standing owner Natalie and her husband Justin after the interim business failed. The restaurant was resurrected with a new name and an emphasis on providing the traditional, home-made food for which it was famed. That, along with the relaxed, cosy environment has once again proved a winning formula as the restaurant is busier than ever, particularly on a Sunday when booking is recommended for the outstanding Sunday roast served from 12 noon. The extensive menu includes all-day breakfasts to light bites and sandwiches and hearty main courses. There is also an impressive choice of daily specials and an unrivalled selection of mouth-watering cakes and pastries which are all baked freshly, on-site, every day by pastry chef Claire. The restaurant also operates a deli service where many of the items on the menu such as salads, whole quiches, French dressing, delicious home-made meals and the full range of amazing desserts are available to take-away. The Quarter Penny Café is open Monday – Saturday 8.30am – 5pm and on Sunday from 9am – 4pm

“Our wedding reception”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

QPC helped us plan our wedding reception to the very last detail, providing us with excellent advice based on their years of catering experience. We were given a detailed quote which was brilliant value and flexible to our requirements. We were able to meet with staff before our wedding day to discuss table plans, table centres, special requirements etc. which really put our minds at ease when we had so many things to think about.

Come the actual day everything ran like clockwork, the food, the waiting staff and the organisation was fantastic whilst providing a really relaxed atmosphere. All our guests commented on the food with many saying it was the best wedding they had ever been invited to. The day was unforgettable, for all the right reasons!

“Superb Sunday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

We visited the quarter penny cafe today for Sunday lunch. Our table had been pre booked as I was advised that it gets busy on a Sunday. When we arrived a charming gentleman showed us to our table which was all ready laid and waiting for us. We were offered not only the Sunday lunch menu but were advised that the full and very extensive usual menu was available to us. Spoilt for choice we opted for the Roast Beef, after all it's a Sunday and lashings of gravy and extra Yorkshire puddings were made available upon our request. There was also a summer version of the beef and chicken, For those not wanting a full roast. Delightful cafe, excellent staff. Food to die for and that's before I even mention the desert counter, which was packed with meringues, brownies, fruity pies, sponges and lighter deserts. My four year old opted for the caramel slice, I asked if I could have a taste which I was refused, they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and my lot certainly did that phrase justice. Will definitely be visiting again, or taking advantage of the take away service which the cafe also offer.

“Visited Frequently”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

I go here quite often, the food is delicious and perfect for a light bite to eat at lunch. Although it can seem a bit cramped at busy times but overall it is a great place to eat.

“Excellent Food and Varied Menu! Excellent Value for Money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

I recently visited the Quarter Penny with my partner and our 5 year old daughter after a recommendation from a friend. It was lovely to visit a restaurant which has everything to offer a couple who want to enjoy a meal or for those who have young children. The staff were very helpful and there was a varied choice of dishes available at more than reasonable prices. Once we had ordered the food there was hardly any wait (even though it was at the weekend and lunchtime) and this is so important especially with a young child. The restaurant also offered books to keep my daughter occupied whilst we sat. Its refreshing to say (when times are hard for us all ) that we had a delicious meal and experience at the quarter penny cafe and will certainly recomend a visit!

“Great breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013 via mobile

Sat outside in the lovely welsh sunshine.
Had a great full English brekkie - couldn't finish it as good size portions.
Great service and good value.
This is our second visit - had a great lunch previously and will return again x
