“HEAVEN!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

What a fantastic place. Stayed there last weekend and felt like I was there a week. We stayed in one of two hot tub suites and were a short walk away from the hotel in an area of calm and tranquility. We had total privacy and weren't overlooked at all. On the first night we had a number of platters sent to the room, the food was amazing with a lovely chilled bottle of wine to enjoy in the hot tub. Breakfast was very relaxed on the second day and we ventured out on our motorbike; there was a covered area for the bike to go at the house. The afternoon was spent by the small pool - small but lovely and warm. We ate in the restaurant that evening and the food was fantastic.

If you want a place to get away from it all and be truely spoilt - nothing is too much trouble - I couldnt recommend anywhere else. We will definitely be back!!!

Pentre Mawr provides fantastic service, from a warm welcome to great food and all in lovely surroundings.
We felt very pampered from start to finish.
food was fantastic and rooms clean and really big-especially the bath! :-)
Animals are really friendly- especially frank the baby owl!
A lovely place for a relaxing break- we will definitely be returning!

My wife and I have just spent one of the best weekends of our lives at Pentre Mawr Country House. We were met with a glass off bucks fizz coffe and homemade cake before being shown to the accomodation.Graham and Bre were amazing hosts and we would like to thank the friendly staff and also the facilities were second to none.
We had our first taste of Glamping and we want more!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cuisine was first class both in the evening and at breakfast were I enjoyed some beautiful kippers.
The guests were really friendly and some had come as far as the Sussex coast with their dog.

We would highly recommend that if you were thinking of a lovely break this would be a place you NEED to explore.

As a seasoned 'glamper' I sat thirstily searching the net one day for new experiences when up popped 'hot tub safari'. In a nutshell this was a country house that has erected 6 safari tents in the grounds, each with it's own private hot tub. Included in the price was a 6 course evening meal and breakfast...was this to be my ultimate in glamping experiences ?? I had to find out...

Well, we have just returned from a weekend at Pentre Mawr and I can honestly say it surpassed any expectations I had..and then some !
Upon arrival you are picked up in a golf cart and driven to reception where you have a complimentary Bucks Fizz (nice touch), and cup of tea and a slice of yummy home made cake. Check in is quick and simple so it isn't long before you're whisked off again aboard the golf cart and delivered safely to your lodge.
First impressions were how huge the safari tent is. Everything has been thought of to enhance your stay- from the double sink and roll top bath in the bathroom, to the fridge (important to keep that bubbly cold)..to the coffee maker, and to the complimentary bath robes.
The hot tub was ready for us to dive straight into, Champagne in hand, and so relaxation started straight away !
The hot tub stands in it's own very private courtyard ( so may I cheekily add no need to take your swimmers !!) tee-hee !
The 6 course dinner was served back at the house, with a wide range of choices on the menu. We both enjoyed everything we chose on both nights of our stay. Cheese and buscuits are then served with coffee in the drawing room - where it was lovely to sit and talk to the other guests enjoying the hospitality of Pentre Mawr.
So guys, drop out of the rat race, leave your stresses ( & swimmers) behind, grab your Champagne, grab your partner and hot foot it here for the weekend..because you're worth it !!

Room Tip: Tent 6 has a wonderful view across the valley

My wife & I, along with another couple, recently stayed at Pentre Mawr in May of 2013 during our 17 day trip to the UK from South Carolina, USA. We'd never been "glamping" and it was very unlike any tent camping we'd ever done before! The tents were very comfortable and the hot tub hit the spot on a cold night! The 4 of us spent our one day there doing the falconry experience with Rich, who was fabulous. The hawks, Storm and Alan, put on a very entertaining show! Graham and Bre were lovely hosts, dinner and breakfast were both outstanding and more than plenty. We each ordered something different and shared, thus getting to try not 1, but 4 dishes. All great!! Pentre Mawr is such a beautiful home, definitely an experience we'd recommend to anyone & a highlight of our trip!!

I can't really write a very detailed review but the care and attention we received on our one night here was excellent. We booked for two nights, very last minute, but unfortunately I was ill when we arrived (Nothing to do with Pentre Mawr, I contracted a stomach bug from elsewhere)

Whilst confined to our room, the staff were excellent and provided my husband with an evening meal in the room so he could stay with me. They also brought me bottled water and sick bowl and some paper towels.

My husband tells me that the dinner and the cooked breakfast the next morning was excellent.

The hotel looked beautiful and the grounds were stunning. I'm just sorry we couldn't stay for our second night. We will be back again in the future to properly enjoy a weekend away! Thank you Graham and Bre for being so lovely to me!

We spent a weekend in a safari tent at Pentre Mawr to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and it was a fantastic experience. From the golf buggy pickup for our Bucks Fizz reception to the delicious five course dinners (complete with cheese and coffee in the drawing room) and the brilliant falconry adventure with the live-in hawks, we had a weekend we will never forget.

The hawks we're incredible and as we are not keen bird lovers, it was our first experience of handling these beautiful birds. Rich was an amazingly patient trainer, especially with my wife, who was a bit nervous of handling the birds. A treat we would highly recommend.

The combination of five-star luxury with such a warm, friendly team made for a high-class yet extremely personal experience that you just don't get with most 'posh hotels'. It felt like (very nice) friends had invited us to stay in their (very nice) home. A home that happened to have a gourmet chef, six genuine African safari tents in the garden (each with its own (very) private patio area and hot tub) and a menagerie of pets including three gorgeous ponies, collie dogs and Frank the baby owl.

The African theme extends from the safari tents to the food and wine list - both of which are amazing. You almost forget you are in the heart of the Welsh countryside - until you go for a walk through some of the most beautiful scenery you could hope to see in the UK.

Highly recommended for all romantic couples. Whether you are celebrating something special or just want to get away from it all for the weekend, at Pentre Mawr you have one of the best weekends of your life.

Set in an area of designated natural beauty in the foothills of the Clwydian hills Pentre Mawr Country House has a lovely romantic feel to it...set as it is in nearly 200 acres of meadows, park and woodland. There are all the little extras that you would expect in a fine country house at Pentre but it is run on a much softer line. Meals are served either in the Oak room or the formal dining room but with none of the stuffiness. We are delighted to announce that we have received 5 Stars and a dining award from the AA There are two lovely sitting rooms all with comfy sofas and portraits of Graham's ancestors. The hidden walled garden is a lovely place to sit and read or just relax and smell the roses. We are more than happy to welcome guest dogs as we have two collies and two cats of our own here. ... more   less
