Robert and Glen never fail to make you feel that serving you dinner is their pleasure. Glen producing the best food and to find this level of cooking in a highland village is unexpected. From the moment you arrive, Robert treats you as a friend who has stopped in for dinner. Excellent waitressing and great atmosphere complete the package.

7 of us stayed at the cottage for a week (4 adults and 3 babies). It's behind the main house and restaurant. Robert and Glen were very accomidating for our young family. So helpful with the kids meals and scheduling our dinners. The food is absolutely amazing. I mean the presentation, the blend of flavor, the freshnesses was to die for. I enjoyed every course on multiple occasions! The wine selection nicely accompanied all our meals. Parking is on site. Cottage has a kitchen and Robert and Glen supplied some items but just enough to get you settled. The toilettries provided were from the neighboring handmade soap shop. Great location to go on multiple short distance hikes. A wonderful treat indeed. I can't recommend the restaurant or the overnight stay enough!

This isn't just the best B&B in the neighbourhood, nor the the finest restaurant from the region, there is something more at Smiddy House : the warmth and enthusiasm from Robert and Glen make your stay an unforgettable experience !

We were going to stop in Fort William but are very pleased we carried on a little further to Spean Bridge where we found Smiddy House or maybe Russells as the restaurant is called. It is a small guest house with a great restaurant. We had not booked and we were lucky as they had been full all week. The room was fine on the first floor at the front but what made this for us was the restaurant attached. The two owners we really friendly and helpful as were the rest of the staff. Food was superb and although not cheap it was not expensive either. We would certainly recommend to friends. We only stopped for one night as we had a flight in Edinburgh to catch the next day but if back in that area we would certainly book.

This is an excellent small hotel with attention to detail and very friendly service from Robert the co-owner and his team.Bed comfortable ,en suite, though small, nicely appointed with good toiletries. Excellent cooked breakfast with locally sourced and most tasty selection. The dinner in the restaurant is the highlight and was frankly outstanding in quality, execution and quantity to rival many in major cities and excellent value Game and fish two of the specialities. We shall certainly return to enjoy this hotel and the stunningly beautiful countryside in this area of Scotland

We stayed here in July (for our anniversary) for the third year running, and as usual were treated to what we consider Perfect Old Fashioned Service where the Guest comes first. Robert and Glen just seem to have it down to a fine art, Robert makes you feel so welcome and Glens food is to die for. As over 65's we have seen a lot of the world in nearly 50 years together, but few places excel at customer service as given by The Smiddy House. we hope to return for many years to come.

We had a lovely two day stay at Smiddy House. Evening meals and breakfasts were just perfection. Friendly warm welcome from all of the staff. Really comfortable room with fresh flowers.
Robert advised on a beautiful easy walk nearby. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and eat on our visit to Spean Bridge. Our visit to the Commando Memorial was an emotional affair that was made so much the better in such a friendly warm environment that the Smiddy has to offer. A big thank you to Robert, Glen and all the staff.
