“excellent value for money! very clean!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2008

The Express Holiday Inns vary quite a lot in quality and service, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find such a clean, fresh hotel with very friendly staff, "off the beaten track".
The rates are extremely affordable if you book online, and include breakfast.
Room - very clean and tidy. very spacious.
Breakfast - self-service full Irish breakfast and even the continental version (but didn't like the croissants too much - probably not a lot of people eat them, so they look a bit "oldish"). The Irish breakfast was excellent.
Service - the staff was really friendly and helpful. Parking is free and the lobby is really modern and a nice open space.

The hotel is really easy to find (we followed the directions on the booking print-out), a few miles off the motorway, and it is situated next to a discount retail park, plus there is a pub and a grill house, and a red panda restaurant (the restaurants stop serving food at 9PM on Saturdays).

It is an excellent location for touring the coast of Northern Ireland. Belfast is only a 20 min drive.

We booked the hotel for a special offer of £55 per night for a twin room with breakfast. It was an excellent standard with good sized rooms and shower rooms. The breakfast is self-service and a full Irish is included (soda and potato bread as well as the usual bacon, sausage, beans, tomatoes, continental breakfast, cereals, cheese, yoghurt, juice, coffee, tea, etc.). The place had a modern open spacious feel and a good sized car park.

It is right next to a discount retail park (mainly clothing but including a supermarket and a garage). There is a pub serving meals,, a grill and a Red Panda restaurant over the road.

The location is great for seeing the coastal route of Northern Ireland if you have a car (parking is free), it is a few miles from a motorway and easy to find. Northern Ireland is not very big, and this is a central location.

Northern Ireland took our breath away with its beauty and unspoilt countryside. The coast has amazing cliffs and rock formations with lovely unspoilt beaches. Sights include the Giant's Causeway, the rope bridge nearby, the castles, Tor Point, etc. etc. Scotland is clearly visible at Tor Point - some of the Armada ships sank off this coast while escaping from the English. In the other direction south of Belfast there is Mount Stewart, an amazing house and gardens set on a loch.

The National Trust owns a lot of sites and it could be worth getting membership to save the entrance fees (it also has sites of historic interest all over the UK). As our kids pointed out, if it's National Trust there is usually a good tea room, toilets and a gift shop. Many of the recipes used in the cafe are local and reasonably priced (about £6.50 for a main meal, we had steak and vegetable pie with wedges and side salad). The cakes all look home made too.

Londonderry (Derry to the Republicans) is about 50 miles away from Antrim and you can walk around the old town walls and read the history. It is also possible to take a tour of the housing estate linked to Bloody Sunday - living history.

Reception staff excellent. Made a great effort to talk us through everything. Much better then some 4 + 5 star hotels we had stayed in. Room nice, clean and functional. Great shower. Nice Beds. Good location for Junction One shopping centre, but our sat nav for the postal code directed us about 200 metres away (as the crow flies!), from the hotel, but about a 1-2 mile drive. We should have just put in our destination as Junction One.
Full cooked Irish breakfast, which was great. Also well stocked.
Price was EUR69 for the room, for a family of 4. Included breakfast.

There wasn't a hotel room to be had in Belfast so booked into this express for two nights because it was convenient for the airport and easy access into Belfast.
We have used many Holiday Inns but never an Express. I like my cooked breakfast!
The hotel is situated by a large retail park with a number of restaurants. Very handy.
Staff were extremely friendly and effecient. Room was fine but lack of drawer and hanging space. Plenty of parking.
Now for the surprise. They did, as well as the usual continental breakfast, a full cooked Irish breakfast!! Imagine my delight.
And good it was. So I guess we could be staying there again.
Limited food menu but well cooked and nicely presented.
All in all a good place to stay.

Usual Holiday Inn standard, clean, functional rooms with simple bar area and help yourself breakfast. Located just of motorway about 30 mins from Belfast so easy to find and convenient for gettign about. Large shopping complex next door bit nothing else in the area apart from a pub over the road. Meals there were very good and reasonable.

Breakfast in the hotel included cooked items, fruit, yogurt, cerels etc. and nicely presented.

Only complaint being the cost of the internet connection here £5.99 per hour or £11.99 per day.

Would stay here again - very quiet

Not the best Express I have to stay in. The staff try and help as much as they can, the breakfasts are the usual on offer from this hotel group, the rooms are clean however the walls are nigh on paper thin so pity help you if your neighbours are noisy! What lets this Express down from a lot of others, is the fact you have to pay a hefty charge if you want wi-fi access - come on is it really worth spending £10 for twenty four hour wi-fi access?

A fairly new hotel very near the large outlet shopping centre and a couple of restaurants. Plenty of car parking. Very helpful and friendly staff. Unlike most HI Express hotels the free breakfast includes a few cooked items and the hotel also serves a range of bar snacks at lunchtime and in the evening. Clean rooms, comfortable bed and reasonably quiet location. Recommended.
