“great base to explore from - super staff - fantastic breakfast included in the price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

we stopped here for 4 nights during the heatwave - no idea of the cost as we had this as a free stay on our Priority Club points - rooms are the usual for HIE and not that big - usual things in the room that you get with HIE such as handwash, shower gel, hairdryer etc - tv was the old type, and would have been better if a new flat screen - rooms were very hot and there is no air conditioning, so be warned! - rooms from 202 to 224 even numbers are best in the summer as the sun is on that side of the hotel early morning, and it is cooler in the hottest part of the day - can't help thinking that if there is no air conditioning, then a thinner duvet would be better, or more fans available? - breakfast is superb! - full English/Irish with bacon, fried eggs etc, much better than usual HI, and they managed despite the hotel being very busy to keep it topped up - really pleased as well that when we came down late just before breakfast ended at 9.30 as advised, that they didn't just remove the food like some HIE do, and actually informed us that they were going to do so soon, and did we want anything else - staff were generally very helpful - they gave us a room at the end of a corridor so that it was quiet, and extra tea bags and milks if we needed them - this was a great base to tour northern Ireland from as it is very near Belfast Airport (about 3 miles) and has great access to major routes - there is also a retail park nearby with great shops such as Next Clearance - Cinema nearby - many places to eat as well nearby (the restaurant in the hotel was busy in the evening with tour groups so we didn't try that) but, don't go to Red Panda which was not as good as we hoped. All in all, we would happily return here to stay ... great value

Room Tip: for a cool room choose 202 to 224 even numbers - some noise from the road though if you have the win...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

We stayed here for one night and have no major complaints. The hotel was lovely, staff were great and checked us in even though we were early. Room was very warm but we were in the middle of a heatwave. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and it was hot!! My only complaint was the staff are not quiet in the mornings. Everytime they used the store cupboard they let the door slam and at 7 in the morning, it got very annoying. Apart from that we had a lovely stay.

arrived here on monday to a lovely welcome from the lady at reception...she was friendly and a credit to the hotel...the room was up to the usual HIE standard as we always try and stay in one when we go on holiday...our room looked onto the dual carriage way which was busy thro the day but surpriseingly quiet at night...as i am a light sleeper i take my earplugs with me but i didnt need them for a change...really good breakfast and evening meals...air conditioning was welcome as we were there until fri morning and the heat was really bad outside all week...the only blip was the noisy guests they had on thurs night...the were staying there for the orange parade on friday and even when asked by the staff to be a little more quiet they couldnt manage it...all in all this was a great hotel with very friendly staff...cant always help what guests they get so it didnt change my opinion of my stay...well done folks and keep it up!!!

Room Tip: as i have dodgy hips i had the room with the wet room...

I booked a reservation over the phone which is a call centre and not direct to the hotel with this chain they had booked me in the wrong hotel and screwed up my rooms on fixing it after second call took me three calls to get me what was available.
For the hotel itself .. The bar and dining room is right beside the front desk it was hard to hear the front desk agent when checking in cause of all the noise! Air conditioning is in the lobby but no a/c in rooms not even in their hallways couldn't open the door for relief ..Ireland had a heat wave ...try open the window for little relief but smoking area below our window was very noisy. I asked for a fan for our room but lied they had no more available they were all used up in other rooms but infact they don't supply them at all ! belfast had a holiday which is an orange parade which can be very rowdy ....infact we had participaters in our hotel which were very loud and vulgar...this hotel was built cheap so walls are thin ..noise comes through..to open our door it squeaks and slams. Other side of hallway is by the highway so it's noisy there no way to get a quiet room. So you cook in your room and freeze for breakfast.
However most staff is friendly and food is good

I recently stayed at the HIE as part of a visit to Northern Ireland for my son's graduation. I had stayed here a few years ago and was pleased to see the previous high standard had been maintained. The hotel is very close to Belfast International Airport, and there is a retail park and number of restaurants all within walking distance if you want to see some different surroundings on an evening. The hotel actually does offer a good menu up till 9:30 on a evening and there is a small bar to gets alcoholic drinks if you want them.

I found the staff very friendly and helpful during my stay. If the hotel is full it can get a bit busy at breakfast so you may need to ask for refills of some foods and drinks, but this was usually done promptly once it was brought to the attention of the staff. Overall a good experiance and I would use this hotel on future visits

I write on this occasion to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for the excellent treatment my employees and I received during our recent stay at your hotel during the G8 summit. Each one of your staff went above and beyond their duties to ensure that all our employees were taken care of during our stay. As some of our employees were on night shift duties the hotel set breakfast from 4am to ensure that they were all fed prior to leaving the hotel, with breakfast being full and plentiful. When it came to checking out staff that had been on the late shift were given a late check out, all fees were waved. In this day and age service like this is hard to come by. Regardless of how much a hotel invests in money and advertising, the real secret to its success lies in the staff who meet the needs of the guests on a daily basis, however, the efforts of these front line staff are often overlooked which is why I write today, to commend each and every one of them. Your professionalism and attention to detail were second to none with all requests being dealt with in a swift and proficient manner. Finally, special acknowledment to Joe, Kathleen and Krissy. Thank you..
