“Staff's service is fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

I stayed at the Grimstock as part of a group of 14 while we were working at Crufts and I have nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. Nothing was too much trouble, staff were always pleasant and very helpful. Even when we arrived back late after the kitchens were closed it was no problem for the night porter to whip us up a sandwich.
The Grimstock is also very comfortable. Okay some of the furniture might be a tad stylised and the bathrooms have coloured suites and therefore look a little dated but that is purely a fashion thing because the bathrooms and well sized.
I think what I enjoy most about staying here is that it's an independent hotel and an individual hotel and it is so refreshing to stay somewhere that doesn't feel like it is being run from a head office instruction manual.
To sum up, a great hotel in great surroundings with staff who are second to none.
Oh just one negative! The gym is fine for what it is but do remember the weights are all in pounds rather than kilos so staying there doesn't instantly double your strength!

Thank you for staying with us during Crufts @ NEC. This is one of the busiest times of the year for Grimstock Country House Hotel. Being ideally situated in substantial private grounds and within a few minutes of the NEC, we are fortunate in having many repeat guests. We are reliant on customer feedback as we do not have the advertising budgets of the chain hotels. We value our independence and hope that our service levels continue to differentiate us from the competition. Your comments are most appreciated.

A very pleasant hotel that is not like the chains of boring unfriendly places that becoming the norm. Good food and very well trained staff. Pleasant bar but could do better with the poor choice of beers. Rooms are traditional ,clean and adequate . Bathroom is ok but it is nearly time for refurbishment . Good television nod lighting in bedrooms.
The best thing about this hotel is the attention the staff give to their guests. It makes for a vey, very pleasant stay and thanks to all the staff.

Whilst attending a Trade Show at the NEC I stayed for 5 nights at The Grimstock Country House Hotel.
The welcome was very friendly and the room and bathroom were a good size and in good but dated decoration. A very relaxed atmosphere and much preferable to the larger Hotels especially after a tiring show. The location is perfect for the NEC taking about 10 mins with very little hold up. I dined there 4 nights and was initially impressed with the food and service until a minor episode spoilt things. Having already previously chosen from the menu for 3 consecutive nights the menu was getting a little more difficult so I wanted to order a la carte but the main course from the set meal and was told it definitely could not be done, no changes . I would have thought a guest spending £1000 (I had 2 rooms) would have counted for something but the answer was no. This small lack of compromise has jaded my opinion of the Hotel, hence the review, I should say that the member of staff refusing this was the Manageress so I assume it was company policy .This was followed on the last night by my bed not being made with the pillows and sheets crumpled just having the cover thrown over. Neither things have ever happened to me before in any class of Hotel. I must say that all the other staff were very friendly and helpful

We had our wedding here. They are fantastic. The day went exactly to plan. Hilary was really helpful in getting everything as we wanted it. The catering was superb. We were able to have a cut down a large cartographic gave our guests a choice. Everything was piping hot and beautifully served. The staff couldn't have done more for us. I can't recommend them highly ugh.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be good. Bridal suite is gorgeous.

We do appreciate your views of Grimstock Country House Hotel. Every wedding is given the personal attention of Hilary, our General Manager. She ensures that each bride and groom have their wedding event personalised whilst retaining the traditional aspects where applicable. Our grounds are maintained so that they remain very popular with wedding photographers and brides.

Credit white credit is due. Staff very friendly & really make the difference. Food could not be faulted. Rooms very clean & comfortable, bathroom a little dated but given the rest of the experience very easy forgiven. Ideal location for NEC. Will definitely return. Geoff G

A very pleasantly located hotel situated in a rustic setting with trees and shrubs and well tended lawns. Being very close to Birmingham and its attractions made it very convenient.

The staff were obliging and interested in our visit and gave good advise and service throughout our stay.

Our bedroom was comfortable clean and came with a large tv!!

The decor and bathroom suite were a little dated.

A critisism would be that the bedroom heating was set far to high and made falling asleep very difficult. although having mentioned this to reception the problem was not resolved.

The dining room was spatious clean and comfortable.

The standard of our breakfast was excellent and our request for additional toast etc met with a smile and promptness- one criticism here would be that the hot tea was far from hot - the water was served from flasks at the rear of the room - a better idea would have been perhaps to have a electric kettle situated at the back of the room and used when a pot of tea were required.

Other than these minor shortcomings I would say that this is a very good hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it or use it again

Room Tip: go for a room at the front of the hotel as the outlook would be superior

A great hotel in private ownership.

Much better than one of the factory hotels.

Food exceeds expectations by far.

Staff are great.

Rooms are simple and clean.

It is a pleasure to come away on business and stay at the Grimstock. The owner is ever present in the foyer - a real life mine host.

Thank you for continuing to serve in the hospitality industry in this way. A rare and dying breed of hotel.
