I have been to the Kings Arms on many occasions as the food is outstanding. Sunday's are always v busy so make sure you book in advance and try the steak and kidney pudding - mouthwatering!

“Lovely Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

This pub is on the end of the lovely cobbled street in Upper Upnor. My friend and I visited for lunch and a business meeting, we weren't disappointed. We both had Omelettes with new potatoes and salad, the omelette was huge and very tasty, potatoes freshly cooked and the salad was large and varied. Hadn't been here for years but I will definitely revisit with my other half

“Well worth finding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

A little of an oddball to find, but well worth the effort.
A most excellent Adnams on offer, along with several others I hadn't heard of before.
We had 3 Cumberland sausages, with mash potatoes, in a Yorkshire pudding plus side vegetables and onion gravy. Filling and flavoursome covers the meal nicely, and lasted the rest of the day.
Very good value for money, with a welcoming host and nice warming open fire.
As I said, slightly difficult to find, but well worth the effort.

“A Sunday Lunch visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

I would suggest booking if you wish to eat here over a weekend as it was really quite busy on the date visited (which gives a hint of the popularity of the restaurant).

The Kings Arms is easy to find in Upnor (being the first building on entering Upnor High Street), but beware of parking, whilst it is free, the closest car park does get very busy and you may end up having to walk further than envisaged.

The pub itself has been Medway 'Pub of The Year' for 2012 and has an excellent variety of real ales and cider on sale (again another reason to give this place a visit) and has the ambiance of a really well-used friendly village ‘social centre’. The restaurant is set in a separate room from the bar - with the tables spaced out well enough to ensure you are not overcrowded.

All the Staff provided a knowledgeable, friendly and efficient service from beginning to end, however at times they appeared to extremely busy and could have done with additional assistance.

There was plenty of choice on the menu to suit almost every taste for those into really good hearty, well cooked and presented British-style fare. The food itself, once ordered, was delivered promptly. Other than the Lamb Shank, which I had and was one of the best ever tasted, I make no suggestions on what to try other than to say, from the comments made by the entire party of 5 over the 3 courses, that this was English country fare freshly "home cooked", well presented and of decent portion sizes.

I have no hesitation in recommending this local pub and restaurant which gave what can only be described as much better than standard pub grub and a lot better than I have had in other places - overall very impressed and well worth the effort of visiting for the ales, ciders or a meal.

“Recognition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Medway camera pub 2 years running , the ale is great but the food is the best pub grub around,
All home cooked , big portions and beautifully presented. This pub really does not get the recognition it deserves .Trust me you won't be disappointed !
