I have just spent the weekend at "Number 68" B&B/Guesthouse at Broadstairs in Kent and would recommend it most highly.
The B&B has three bedrooms, all individually themed and decorated. It is in a lovely Edwardian Villa on a quiet street, with the sea just a few steps away at the end of the street. The sandy beach is about 5 minutes walk away - or it takes around 1/2 hour to walk to Ramsgate either along the cliffs or on the beach if the tide is out. Broadstairs itself is a sweet little place with the usual assortment of shops, fish and chippies, restaurants etc. The beaches are wide and sandy - with a selection of bays and coves to choose from. There are even rock pools in which to explore!
We stayed in the French Room - a pretty white and blue room with a big, comfortable brass bed with white bedlinen, plump pillows and duvet. The room was spacious and looked out onto a little paved garden. Despite the hot weather, it was cool and relaxing inside. Our bathroom was just along the hall - and we were provided with bathrobes. Everything was immaculately clean and stylish - much nicer than many so called "boutique" hotels I have stayed in. We peeked into the Seaside Room as the cleaning was being done, and that too looked great.
Breakfast was home cooked by the proprietor, Mike, and offered a wide selection to suit all tastes... There was lovely fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, a selction of juices, cereals etc... with the option to have a variety of cooked items for the bigger appetite. The breakfast room had numerous leaflets about local places, and Mike was very helpful and made lots of suggestions about good places to eat and visit.
We paid £55 a night, including breakfast and it was worth every penny - and then some. If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay and a nice weekend on the English coast, then I can't recommend Number 68 more highly.
