“An anniversary break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Warm welcome.
A wonderful way to start our wedding anniversary celebrations.
Breakfast selection great and brilliantly prepared and presented.
Can't beat the central location.
Even the stairs are worth the climb.

We had a comfortable stay here. We had the 'family suite' - two adjoining rooms which worked well for our family. The rooms were a bit small, but clean and nicely furnished in modern style. The views over the bay were lovely. It is in a prime spot in the middle of Broadstairs and you need to book well in advance for peak times. It was a healthy hike up the stairs, but the ability to get a decent pint in the bar and take it upstairs is not to be underestimated! Food is at the better end of the pub food scale and staff throughout were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Facing the sea is best, obviously. I suspect the higher up you go the more you compromise space in...

Accessd to the rooms are up some very windy staircases, but as its an old building this is to be expected.
I felt the rooms need some updating, our bathroom shower went very hot or cold, I can only assume depending on who was using water elsewhere.
The breakfast was massive, on speaking to the waitress she was very accomodating and made a suggestion for my breakfast order which was the right choice for me. (the hollandaise sauce in a dish on the side) and home cooked ham instead of smoked salmon. The breadfast room looks out towards the sea which i love, and to step outside straight after to go for a sea front walk is just wonderful.
I would stay here again for the location, which i feel is there best assett

With fabulous views from the front and the Royal Albion is a great place to stay. Good base from which to explore the area too. I enjoyed myself very much. On the down side they need a bit of a clean up - the windows were dirty which with the wonderful view did matter. And the public toilet downstairs in the basement (that is used by those dining at the RA but not staying there really stank so much it smelt all the way up to the reception area). Still worth going there as great breakfast and fabulous views. I would go again.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front, sea facing.

We have always enjoyed our stays at the Albion, summer and New Year alike. We love the sea views, the food - a very good chef - and the general ambience. Hope it remains as good under the new manager!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Choose this hotel as it was lovely when viewed and was exactly what we wanted for our wedding night.
On arrival the room looked clean when my new bride went to use the bathroom she was suprised to find that the previous occupants had left something in the toilet it was not pleasant to find the water a brown colour and some nice objects still sitting in the pan. That was a good start to married life. The rest me the stay was ok

Having stayed here regularly for many years, I can't speak highly enough of this hotel.
The staff are always helpful, the rooms well equipped, food excellent & sea views spectacular !
Whether you're staying on business or as a couple for a romantic weekend or even with your family, everyone is well catered for.
The Albion 'Big Breakfast' is worth going for on it's own !

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are more money, but well worth it - town facing rooms dont have a great view & ca...
