“If you're after a great location in Broadstairs, it doesn't get much more convenient than this!”
We (six 22 year old friends) stayed in The Flat in Broadstairs during Folk Week and we had an absolutely lovely time. Due to its high street location it was loud at night and busy right outside the front door but we quite liked that as we were also making the most of the nightlife and bands playing during folk week. It was very useful to pop home to use the loo instead of queuing in the pubs! I'm sure in normal (non-festival) weeks, noise wouldn't be a problem.
The flat has a drive which was very useful as parking, particularly during busy times, is very difficult around Broadstairs. It was a 2-3 minute stroll to the lovely sandy beach, which was another big plus for us!
The property itself has 2 floors: in the basement is one bedroom (a single bed with a camp bed that pulls out alongside to form a double. The camp bed half is a little soft and may be uncomfortable for people with bad backs), a shower room, a games room with Wii and PS3 (good for young families) and a lounge with enough seating for 6 and a TV with Sky+ and DVD player. We loved how homey this area was.
Upstairs there is a fully-equipped kitchen (including washing machine & dishwasher) and a dining area to seat 6. Towards the back of the property there is a bathroom, a double bedroom and another bedroom with twin beds in.
The owners of this property are really friendly, and rather handily they own the chippy two doors down, so perhaps they'll give you a free deep-fried Mars bar or cone of chips if you're lucky! We got along really well with them and had no trouble getting our deposit back.
For us this flat was perfect, but it is not well-suited to wheelchair-users or those with pets (no garden). All in all a great place for a British getaway, and we would holiday here again!
