I have been coming to this pub since I moved here three years ago, and it's pretty unremarkable during the week. The quiz night on a Tuesday evening used to be quite fun until they started giving out bottles of Becks (yuck) as the prizes. Fridays and Saturdays are fairly lively here although it doesn't really pick up until fairly late on (around 11.00ish), I guess like most places.
I'm a fairly experienced drinker and I can honestly say that the drinks prices here are as cheap as you're going to get elsewhere, although if you ask for anything slightly speciality it will cost you an arm and a leg. (I once ordered a Harvey Wallbanger that was served in a small half pint glass and cost me £6!). Their own House Vodka and splash is probably the cheapest thing on the menu but I will warn you now, it's strong stuff.
All in all, it's a fairly decent place to go on a Friday and Saturday although the rest of the week it can be a bit of an "old man's pub" (but nowhere as extreme as the Tartar Frigate or Barnaby Rudge).
