“Still great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

It is a year since we were in delightful Broadstairs and since we ate at 54.
The food is beautifully created, nicely served and this is probably the best restaurant
Broad stairs.I think the current rating in Tripadviser of anything less than best is ridiculous

“Best restaurant in broadstairs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

The warmth of the welcome and the high standard of cooking and presentation make this the best restaurant in Broadstairs,The restaurant sensibly sticks to a fairly limited menu-which changes from time to time-and is able to produce interesting dishes of a consistently high standard. The wine list is well chosen and includes some sensibly priced"house" bottles.Recommended!

“First visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Had Sunday lunch here yesterday (29.09.13) Warm welcome, very good table. The food was excellent. One lamb and one monkfish - both superb. My fish was in a korma sauce and was delicately flavoured. The crab samosa complimented the dish. My husband's lamb was excellent, lamb canon perfectly cooked and enhanced by the fritters. We could not fault either dish. Unfortunately we couldn' t manage desserts!

We have also looked at the Christmas Day menu which must be the most innovative on offer in Broadstairs.

Although not cheap, the main dishes compared in price to the Charles Dickens, which offres excellent sea views but not the same standard of cooking.

“Great food and ambience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

We were a large table dining here for the first time. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and several of those of us agreed it was the best meal they'd ever eaten. Several of us had scallops in one form or another as they feature in various dishes both starters and mains. They were generously served and the presentation was inventive and delicious.

I had the crab assiette starter which was interesting and light. Several of us enjoyed the sea bass; the liver was said to be 'the best meal I've ever eaten' by it's diner, and the roast stuffed chicken was proclaimed to be divine.

Puddings were devoured with gusto, and as some of us couldn't decide which dessert to choose we shared the selection.

All in all good food.

The ambience is slightly towards formal with a modern twist, various small dining rooms on different levels, white napery, good service. Avril - the co-owner is an excellent Matre d' (Maitrese d'?), knowledgable and friendly.

All in all, a good choice, and one of the best in the area, well worth a detour.

“Really nice restaurant, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Had a great meal here - the service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was delicious. Well cooked and well presented, and a good choice on the menu. Nice atmosphere too. It's not cheap so you might want to think of it for special occasions, but not outrageously expensive either.
