“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

A lovely place to stay, beautiful house, lovely rooms, great hospitality.

The house is stunning and the rooms very tastefully decorated.

It looks Georgian but is actually early Victorian, built before the new arctitectural trends had travelled to Devon

the brealfsat was excellent, Slvia is a first class hostess and nothing was too much trouble.

Wonderful stay, Sylvia and Peter are really accommodating and friendly!
Tea and biscuits on arrival and breakfast is fantastic.
Chosen as it was recommended by colleagues who had stayed in the past and would stay again!
Wifi is good and everything is clean.

(With acknowledgement to ‘Anita 1967’ 23/7/13 as she had summed up our experience). Sylvia was very welcoming on arrival and made us tea and coffee with biscuits when we arrived. We stayed in the annexe with a door out to a small courtyard covered with a large vine and with a view of their impressive veg patch. Room was clean but perhaps just slightly dated (as was the main reception room) with an en suite wet room with tea/coffees/biscuits and a nice touch of 2 bottles of mineral water and an emergency torch on the wall. The bed is on the soft side but comfortable. Good choice of breakfast (which we had ordered the day before). Good home cooked plums and nice homemade jams. Location was perfect for us for one night and the centre of Crediton it is about half a mile away. It was surprisingly quiet in the annexe even though we were close to the main road.

Booked at taw vale based on previous recomendations at trip advisor and wasnt disappointed at all. Warm welcome from Syliva and a nice cup of tea. Room was very nice with a beautiful private patio with a veg garden and actual vine grapes hanging over head. Breakfast was a belly buster with home made jams yum. Would go back without any doubt.

Comfy beds, lovely shower, what more can you ask for? Sylvia couldn't have been more helpful, great local knowledge and a kind heart!
We went swimming and she warned us that whatever they treat the water with tends to destroy swimming costumes so she took our costumes and ran them through her machine for us.
Breakfast was lovely, beautiful home made preserves, worth just having toast for them alone!
We have family in the area and will not look for anywhere else now, hope to stay here again

Stayed for one night whilst visiting relatives en route to Cornwall. What a gem we have discovered in that Sylvia and Peter made us feel so welcome, our room was spacious and comfortable (with lovely little touches) and the breakfast was divine. We will return!

Sylvia was very welcoming on arrival and made us tea and coffee with biscuits when we arrived in the morning before we headed off to the train station to Barnstaple & Exeter (about a 2 minute walk away). We stayed in the annexe with a door out to a small courtyard covered with a large vine and with a view of their impressive veg patch. Room was clean but perhaps just slightly dated with an en suite wet room with tea/coffees/biscuits and a nice touch of 2 bottles of mineral water and there is even an emergency torch on the wall. Good choice of breakfast(which we had ordered the day before) and Sylvia kindly let me know that she was remaking my scrambled eggs as she said they weren't up to scratch (not something many b&b's would do). Excellent loganberries from their garden and some nice homemade jams. Location was perfect for us for one night and if you want to go into the centre of Crediton it is about half a mile away. It was surprisingly quiet in the annexe even though we were close to the main road.
