This Indian restaurant serves excellent food and friendly service / good quick takeaway service May not be the cheapest in Matlock but certainly the best

“Not what you would expect from the outside”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

Lovely building and the staff were so friendly but why they advertise 'eat as much as you like' then restrict your food to a set menu i don't know. The starter was great but the main course curry's were very bland and the chicken was chopped us so small. For what i payed we didn't get much and left still hungry 1 small nan bread is not enough for 2 people. We were amazed the place was so packed given that the food lacked taste and what was advertised as an eat as much as you like buffet were you order only what you want was not....

“Food used to be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

We have eaten here intermittently for over 10 years. It was our favourite Indian restaurant in the past, but the last couple of visits were disappointing.

Most recently, the mixed kebab was "wet", served with soggy rather than sizzling caramelised onions and the meat seemed to taste reheated rather than freshly kebabed. The main course dishes used to vary in flavours and spices and taste fresh. Although pleasant, the flavours were very similar between dishes.

“Local favourite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

Relatively small restaurant but service and food is excellent. Unless you turn up early you are better to book to avoid disappointment. The servings are generous and the dishes can be adjusted to your taste, just ask your waiter. All the usual favourites and delicious house specials. We had roti's (slightly thinner than Naan) and shared a portion of rice. First class service, nothing is too much trouble - definitely a local favourite. They do takeaways if you can't get a table or are self-catering (they will also deliver to local addresses). Matlock Bath gets very busy and parking can be difficult, as an alternative park in Matlock and take the Derwent Line train one stop to Matlock Bath. You'll need to look up the times because the trains run hourly.
