“Great boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

I have stayed here several times, as my company has an office nearby. Charming boutique hotel, friendly staff, good location right on the water. Every room I have ever stayed in has been airy and nice, for my most recent stay the bathroom was VERY large. Restaurant is good, both for dinner an breakfast. You can borrow an iron from the reception desk and ironing boards are on each floor.

Absolutely recommend this hotel if you need to stay in Uithoorn.

This is an old style building on the banks of the river Amstel
It has a beautiful deck alongside the river ( be careful with children)
Superb place to sit out on a summers evening and watch both commercial and leisure boating
Within walking distance of many restaurants and bars
Always super friendly

Room Tip: Try and get a river view

We stayed at Het Rechthuis for three nights in April 2012 and it was great. The hotel's site is next to the Amstel and in the good weather, the open seating is right over the river. Food is wonderful and the service and help we received was also excellent. We even borrowed their PC to check in and print off our boarding cards. Our only minor niggles were the lack of any tissues in the room and the poor lighting in the room. Uithoorn is about 20 minutes from Schiphol and Amsterdam and therefore is great for a stopover. We would totally recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Get one overlooking the river - e.g. Nos 1 or 2

Went there as our first stop on a tour of Holland with our kids aged 10 and 5. We wanted to visit Amsterdam but had a car loaded with bikes and suitcases for a week and hence did not want to stay in the city center. True that from the hotel you have a good 45 min bus ride to the center of Amsterdam but the bus is direct. But it is worth it! We even had dinner there in the evening and it was delicious. The woman on duty that evening was super nice (even gave us tip on the way to take to visit the Bloemenveiling the next morning - which is by the way 10 min by car from there!). Super nice with the kids too. Would definitely go back! Do not think they have family rooms but they gave us two rooms next to each other: it was perfect.

See my separate review for the restaurant (amazing!). Okay, the hotel - rooms are very clean and seem to be close to new or newly renovated. Room has a bathtub, a small fridge, and a desk. Bed was nice and comfy and room 2 comes with a view of the Amstel from one of the windows. Parking is free in front of the hotel, free fast wi-fi. There's even a large elevator in the place. Breakfast was typical Dutch, which translates to not as good as a German breakfast. Very limited choices, all self-service including coffee. In fact, in two nights there I never saw a person in the breakfast room that wasn't a guest. Uithoorn isn't Amsterdam, so if your goal here is to commute to the city - rethink. It's a 30 minute drive to Keukenhof, and there's a nice beer store close to the hotel if you want to stock up on the world's beers.

Recently spent one night here, as the beginning of a European road trip, starting from Schipol airport. The Hotel was informal, friendly with a perfectly adequate room, well fitted and extremely clean - with everything just as it should be. There was tea/coffee and kettle in the room - which we appreciated. There was easy free parking outside the hotel, typical Dutch (European) breakfast and a quiet riverside location (Amstel river). The hotel is also very well located for Schipol airport. The hotel made an admirable first night of a great trip and will be etched in our memory forever. I state such because some hotels we have stayed in are best fast forgotten! For the record - we stayed one night in June, and paid Euro80 for the night. We pre-booked via the internet two weeks prior to this, and our booking was on the record and our room ready for us on arrival - which is more than we can say regarding a similarly booked night in Aalsmeer 2 years previously!
We chose this hotel because of it's easy location to visit the Aalsmeer 'bloemenveiling" (flower auction) - it's only about 3 km away. This makes for an easy early morning trip. The visitors centre for the auction is open from 7 am - and one is told to "go as early as possible". Incidentally - the flower auction is one of the "must sees'" in Holland in our opinion.
