“Far better than expected.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

The rooms are set in a lovely Georgian building very close to the tannery restaurant and a two minute walk to the harbour. The rooms are very nicely finished and quite spacious, and the bathrooms are well appointed and spacious as well.
The breakfast is delicious, there is fruit and real milk in the fridge, homemade granola and yogurt - lots of nice little touches. The price is also very reasonable.
Definitely worth staying here if you are looking to stay in he area....

Stayed as part of an overnight deal with the restaurant and was delighted with the package as a whole. The meal at the restaurant was magnificent and that accomadation was real first class with comfortable bed and beautiful decor in the room while the En Suite was gleaming and spotless and again decor was really wonderful. Highy recommend The Tannery as a place to stay as well as a Gastro delight around the corner at the restaurant. A gem in Dungarvan

We stayed here for two nights on the June Bank Holiday weekend and it was just lovely. Our deal included two night's B&B, one evening meal, Sunday lunch, a copy of Paul's Cookery book and a bottle of prosecco - all for an unbelievable €200pp. The townhouse itself is small - I think there are only seven rooms, but the decor is fresh and lively. The rooms are a bit on the small side (but it is a townhouse so what do you expect?). The bathroom was a good size with a good shower. There was also a fridge with juices, bottled water and yoghurts for breakfast, and a kettle with a teapot and caftiere with coffee. Breakfast muffins were delivered on our first morning, and croissants on the second.

If you are a light sleeper there is some (but not much) street noise that may disturb you. The wooden shutters help to block some of that out. There is some limited parking for guests, but we never had a problem finding a parking place outside the restaurant - which, we were told, is very safe (and free of charge). We received a very warm welcome on arrival and service at all times was excellent.

The real highlight of weekend was our Friday night dinner in the Restaurant. Quite simply, it was one of the best meals that I have ever had - I have been dreaming of the crab creme brulee ever since! The dining room itself is spacious and full of light - a lovely space. Service at all times was knowledgeable and charming - the waiting staff are very well trained and really know their job.

This is our second time staying in The Tannery and we really enjoyed Dungarvan - which seems to be a bit of a foodie town! Places worth visiting nearby are the impressive Mahon Falls, and lovely Clonea Strand. Now, when can I go back?

We had a fabulous one night stay at the Townhouse. Our room was so comfortable we will definitely return - beautiful linens, high ceilings, lovely bathroom, and delicious treats for breakfast. We also had dinner at the restaurant, and the food and service were both excellent. The location is handy to town and parking is available. This place is a must!

Room Tip: My partner has a bad back so we asked for a room on one of the lower floors.

We stayed here for two nights at the weekend and were pleased with the room we got. It was of a good size and had nice wooden shutters on the window and there were books outside the room to borrow. The bed was quite comfortable and there was a fridge for the continental breakfast that comes with the room. We were provided with two bottles of filtered water, two bottles of apple juice, two glasses of natural yoghurt with fruit compot and milk and meusli. There's also a kettle for tea or coffee and a little espresso machine. There were two things were were disappointed with. Firstly the cute little espresso cups in the room were dirty. Both had lip marks and dribbles of milk down the side. The inside had obviously been rinsed under the tap but not actually washed properly. My pet hate! I wonder when I'll find a hotel where the room glasses and cups are actually taken to the kitchen and washed properly? Having worked in hotels myself, I know this never happens. The other thing was we were expecting pastries for breakfast, but got muffins on both mornings. Neither of us are keen on something so sweet for breakfast. Personally I think it would be a better touch to provide rolls or a french pastry and jam or marmalade. Apart from that though we had a really nice stay and an unforgettable meal in the Tannery restaurant.

Have eaten and really enjoyed eating at the Tannery on a number of occasions - mostly linked to confirmations in Ring. Looking for a night away and using the Bridgestone Guide as my bible, I was pointed in the direction of the Tannery Townhouse as a restaurant with rooms option. We were a little nervous with some of the poor reviews on Tripadvisor. However, it is now clear that these complainants had not read the Tannery website. It is not a hotel, but a very good restaurant with rooms option. The house is a Georgian townhouse just across the street from the restaurant and is a great preservation job. The room was very nicely decorated and had all of the touches you would expect from a luxury hotel - walk in shower, free Internet, tea/coffee making facilities, full length mirror, lighted mirror in the bathroom, etc, etc. The breakfast is as good as all the good reviews say and you avoid the temptation of the full Irish. The Tannery Restaurant is reviewed separately, but 100 euro for dinner and room, this is excellent value for a night away. Check out Merrys pub next door and the great little book shop next door to that and you won't have far to travel.

The Tannery Townhouse is a converted Georgian terraced dwelling close to the restaurant and to the town centre.

The property doesn’t have an elevator and there were 33 steps to our top floor room, so people with impaired mobility or lots of luggage should seek ground floor accommodation.

Room size varies and ours was quite small, not much bigger than its comfortable queen size double bed and without a chair. The attached bathroom was adequate but also small and rather basic. The building is unmanned and there was no room phone (emergency numbers are supplied). The TV reception was very fuzzy. In the morning, a surprising amount of noise drifted in from other guests and banging doors. Early leavers need to check out the night before, as this service isn’t available until 10 am.

Breakfast is a simple do-it-yourself continental made with quality ingredients left in the room.

Free WiFi is advertised but we didn’t succeed in getting it to work (and there was no one to ask for help).

The Townhouse is a convenient place to stay overnight after one of the Tannery's good value and quality dinners but we didn’t think it suitable for a longer stay.
