The hotel has a lot of potential, kid's club, restaurant and pool were great. However the hotel public areas i.e reception and bar need a good clean! The carpet on the main stairs needs to be replaced. The bar staff were extremely slow to serve, even though the bar was not particularly full. However the food in the restaurant was lovely as were the staff.

We stayed in this hotel as we were at a wedding in the area. It seems like they specialise in weddings.
The food was divine for the whole weekend. Its the place to go if you want live music and a busy busy bar.

They have a new secton built on at the back. We were in the older original rooms. Very spacious. Comfortable bed. The main reception could do with a lick of paint or new wallpaper and new carpet and a bit of an effort to bring it up to the standard of the newly built section at the rear.

Leisure centre - pleasantly surprised at size and facilities available.

It's in a good location to the town and parking is not a problem.
Good value for money and with a bit more attention to detail it has the potential to be a very good hotel indeed.

The Park is a modern three star plus hotel with a view towards the Culligan river and well located on the main highway linking Dungarvan with Cork and Waterford. It is also within easy walking distance of the town centre. The decor lacks character and the property seems under-maintained. Our room was well sized, comfortable and clean. The staff were pleasant and the cooked-to-order breakfast quite good. The hotel is popular for wedding receptions and the public areas can be noisy at weekends. The price is somewhat high, presumably reflecting a lack of competition in the immediate area. Recommended for a short stay. Tip: the jewel of Dungarvan is the Tannery restaurant, which offers top quality innovative cooking at moderate prices - book well ahead.

From the moment I entered this hotel I knew I had probably made a mistake in booking it. It was overrun with people due to two weddings and a party, there was no parking available and the place was in general chaos. We checked in easily enough but I was not impressed by the general state of the reception or the threadbare carpet on the stairs. The rooms are very nice and have obviously been redecorated recently but the whole place smelled of what can only be described as boiled cabbage. We had booked in for dinner that night and were tired after a long journey so we figured we should give the hotel another chance. They were more than a little disorganised when we arrived but after some time we were seated with a menu in hand. The menu resembled nothing like the sample one on the website and was what I can only describe as basic. If you like beef you were fine as there were four varieties of this as a main course. Although the staff tried hard it was obvious they had received little training as we found out when we ordered wine to have it simply plonked on the table with no thought to a wine cooler.
Following on from this we were woken very early the next morning by staff shouting at each other down the corridor instructions on where needed to be hoovered - a relaxing break this was not!
We trooped off to breakfast tired and a little grumpy only to be informed that we needed to queue as they had no free tables. It was obvious that the restaurant simply could not cope with the number of guests so we and another 15 or so guests all waited patiently to be seated, again chaos seemed to be the order of the day. One guest likened the whole experience to staying at Fawlty Towers but I'm not sure that the service was ever that bad there!
The whole element of the customer and their experience seemed to be totally lost on this hotel so if you like being considered a bit of an inconvenience and don't mind a pretty second rate experience then this is the hotel for you. Personally I will never darken its doors again.

We stayed in the hotel with our 21 month old son in March and had a lovely weekend. Our room was nice and plenty of room for the cot they supplied. Slow service in the Bar on the friday night as there was a wedding on while we were there but I have to say their restaurant was excellent one of the best meals we had in a long time would really recommend the restaurant even if you not staying in the hotel. We used the pool on the friday evening with our son as they had a lovely kids pool but could not use it on saturday evening as it was booked out for lessons! there was also a lovely play ground about 5 minutes walk from the hotel
