“Perfect Tuscany Honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

We absolutely LOVED our stay here at the beginning of June. The Relais Villa L'Olmo was a terrific choice for our honeymoon. We stayed for alittle over a week and was sad to leave. We opted for a cottage (Villa Uva) with the private pool and enjoyed every minute. We had more room than 2 people needed but the privacy and space was nice since we were there for so long. We loved having our own kitchen and visited the local co-op many times to restock food and snacks for our stay. We didn’t eat breakfast at the Relais since we could just make our own food and coffee each morning. We can't say enough about Eleanora and Laura who works the reception there. They helped us arrange everything from dinner reservations (which Laura directed us to our favorite restaurant for the entire trip Osteria Lo Ziro in Impruenta), bus tickets to get into Florence, directions, a driver to visit the Castello de Verranzo in Greve (which I would highly recommend for Dinner at the Farm), and tons of other advice while we were there! They were always happy to help and so very friendly for our trip, we can’t begin to thank them for all their generosity. We would definitely return and would recommend this to anyone who wanted to enjoy Tuscany. I would love to return when they are making the olive oil to see the whole process. The olive trees made the view from the property just great!
Positives:
Easy and cheap access to Florence via bus with schedules that run frequently every day. The bus was less than 2 euros/pp per trip. Cabs would be closer to 40 euros. Buy the tickets at reception.
Wonderful view with a quiet Tuscany countryside setting, away from the busy city. We loved being able to visit the sites and museums of Florence but then return to lounge by the pool in the evening.
Very spacious and private villa! (Even hedges are around the pool)
Ability to enjoy day trips from Florence to other cities.
Easy access to train system. Bus stop in Florence is right at major train station so if you wanted to visit other cities (or countries) it would be easy, we travelled from Rome and didn’t have any problems.
Ability to enjoy local culture and everyone was very friendly! There are a handful of restaurants in Impruneta to enjoy for dinner. (Go to Osteria Lo Ziro!)
Villa was very clean, provided fresh towels (even pool towels) everyday, and they have a washer (no dryer).
Negatives:
This wasn’t a problem for us but the bus stops running around 8 pm or so, therefore if you wanted to stay out late in Florence you would need a cab for a return.
We never could get our cable to work for our trip. We don’t tend to watch tv much on vacation but we did want to stay connected with the news and weather. (I’m sure this was addressed though.)
They do have Wi-Fi available but its 5 euros a day. We didn’t get it every day but did for a few days just to stay connected to our family via emails.

Room Tip: We stayed at Villa Uva which is the most private of the cottages but it's on the far end of the...

We recently stayed here during our trip to Italy and hated to leave. Gorgeous and charming setting. Apartment was terrific, staff extremely helpful and pleasant. The views were amazing! We did not eat the breakfast the hotel offered but took advantage of the kitchen in the apartment and walked the 15mins to the nearby grocery store and fixed breakfast ourselves. Both bedrooms, the kitchen, bathroom and living room were clean and the kitchen had every appliance needed. I could have sat beside the pool and looked at the surrounding olive groves for days but with only 3 nights and all there was to do and see in nearby Florence we did not get to take advantage of all this property had to offer. Would love to come back sometime and just spend an entire week here! Thank you so much to the staff for making our stay so wonderful!!

We spent 6 nights here in April 2012 and could not have asked for a better place to be. The proximity to florence and bus service there was extremely convenient. The staff was extremely helpful, and the apartments were spacious and great, not to mention, the view of the surrounding olive groves and hills was serene! We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Recommended to us by a friend of a co-worker, we found this a perfect spot. We arrived after a long day travelling to Rome from Philidelphia and then by train to Florence. Laura arranged a driver to pick us up and bring us to the farm. It was so nice to arrive on a sunny afternoon, relax on the patio with a beer and glass of wine that was awaiting in our room. Laura and staff were so helpful before our arrival (answering many questions by email) and this contiued during our stay. We bussed to Florence (no problem), shopped and dined in Imprunetta. Laura arranged a couple day trips for us and an evening cooking experience (wonderful). We were sad to move on after only 3 days. Our stay was so short and wished we could remain longer. Thank you for the wonderful experience. Terry and Irene.

My husband and I were here in November, '11 with my family. We stayed in their three bedroom farmhouse, which worked perfectly for the six of us. It was a great place to set up camp for a few days.

Downside: the buses to and from Florence are not super frequent. So, if you are staying here and want to get in and out of Florence easily, I definitely recommend getting a car or being ready to pay for cabs. The beds! Oh, the beds. Definitely the worst beds we've ever slept on. In all three rooms! The village of Impruneta was cute, but pretty much closed down in the afternoon. I don't think my mom booked this thinking we'd actually use the kitchen much, but we ended up cooking two or three of our four nights due to lack of options. I wonder if the village is more lively in the summer?

Upsides: super friendly staff! We did an olive press tour there, which was so unique, since we were there during olive press time! The ladies seemed just over the moon to have us there and show us around. Great proximity to wine tasting! We did a full day of tasting and it was really easy to be picked up at the villa. The scenery around the villa was stunning! Rolling hills and beautiful vegetation. One night we ran out of salt and one of the staff lent us her sea salt grinder from her personal lunch bag for the night. :) So cute. Awesome espresso in the morning!

Room Tip: If you're staying in the three bed room farmhouse, tell them they've got a deal if they put...

We wanted the privacy, quiet, and comfort of a private villa, but wanted the service that comes with an onsite staff. The Villa L'Olmo was the perfect compromise. Our family of 4 stayed here in April '12, and just loved it. Laura was incredibly warm and welcoming when we arrived. The apartment was extremely comfortable, with plenty of room for the 4 of us (mom, dad, kids age 11 and 8). Everything in the apartment was clean, fresh, and worked properly. Easy 5-minute walk into Impruneta for the grocery, restaurants, etc. Easy 10- to 15-minute drive to Florence. Maybe 40 minutes to Siena on the Autostrade.

I'd stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone.
