“the italian dream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

For over 4 years we come to what we call... our second home....

This is really Tuscany, this is the italian dream.

Ripostena has several big appartments with private terasses and a common swimmingpool.
From your terras or swimmingpool you can see San Gimignano and the rest of the landscape for maybe 50 km.

The way every guest is treated by Martina and her family is great.
No question is too much.
If you want you can have diner every 2 days for a reasonable price.
A good tip: book this on the day you arrive!
After the roadtrip and the installation in the appartment, your holiday can start with this dinner!

Sienna is about 25 min, Firenze +- 50 min

Don't hesitate, just book, you really won't regret it!

Enjoy!

Our family of 2 adults and 3 children under 14 years stayed at Ripostena June 2011 and to this day we still talk about what an unforgettable time we had there. I've only just signed up to trip adviser hence the delay in writing this review. Location, service, meals, cleanliness, friendliness, were all 100 percent. I would thoroughly recommend this location for any family or couples, young or old. Great base for relaxation and doing day trips to many of the neighboring towns and villages with your vehicle. We will return.

We stayed at Ripostena as a family of 4 for a week in early September 2012. Our lovely stone villa overlooked the valley with views towards Volterra and San Gimignano in the distance. The area was stunning and so was the pool. There was only a couple of other villas rented at the time but still very peaceful and quiet. We did day trips every day around Tuscany. I recommend it highly as a base to explore Tuscany. The owner Martina was very friendly. There is an option to have Rosa cook authentic Italian meals for you which we accepted a couple of nights during the week, you won't be disappointed. Sunsets were amazing too drinking a few reds and cold beers at the end of the day.

My group, two Australian couples, had a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom villa at Ripostena for a week. It was SENSATIONAL in every way, and very good value for money. The old farm buildings are beautifully restored into fabulous apartments. The service is excellent. The manager, delightful Martina, speaks perfect English, and her assistant Teresa can manage German and French as well. The chef, Rosa, provides authentic Tuscan cuisine. The location is great - during the week we managed to visit San Gimenano, Siena, Florence, Pienza, Montepulciano, Asissi, Monteriggoni and Coole Val d'Elsa, Greve in Chianti and still have two days of complete rest around the beautiful pool.
Ripostena is hidden away on a high hillside, with unbelievable views. You will not regret choosing it for your holiday in Tuscany.

My wife and I along with her parents stayed at Ripostena to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. We were in apartment number 7 (two bedroom, two bath and a kitchen) for a week. It was a perfect size apartment that was well-appointed with a a rustic Italian countryside feel. We took advantage of the large balconey and fabulous view regularly. Ripostena offers a 20 Euro dinner cooked by local resident, Rosa. It was not only the best value for money meals we had but also the most enjoyed. Good authentic Italian food in abundance. We enjoyed day trips to San Gimingnano (40 minutes), Siena (30 minutes), Chianti Wine Region (30 minutes) and Florence is a comfortable day trip away. Many only charming small towns around, however the only drawback is the ride up the dirt-road (about 10 minutes) to the farmhouse which meant you definitely wanted to make the most of your time when you left. That being said Ripostena offered great value for money. Martina and her family showed the kind of hospitality that would make you want to come back or recommend to friends and family.
