“A wonderful place to explore the Tuscan delights.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

We have just returned from a wonderful two week holiday at Podere Monti. My husband, two teenage daughters and myself stayed in the two-bedroomed apartment, which was extremely clean, and simply furnished in traditional style. The bedrooms were a good size with plenty of wardrobe and storage space. The kitchenette area has fridge freezer, microwave and hob (no oven - so if you wanted to create something fancy that could be tricky - but who wants to be a slave to the kitchen on holiday!) Maybe some basics in the kitchen like salt, pepper and sugar would have been helpful. The whole of Podere Monti is well maintained, as is the pool and the view from this is stunning. We could have been quite content to stay by the pool all day listening to the crickets and watching the swallows diving, however that would have been a shame as the location is wonderful for visiting so many places. Casole D'Elsa is charming with several great, reasonably priced pizza/restaurants to choose from. It takes about 20 mins to walk into town (a 5 min drive). We really enjoyed San Giminagno and Volterra and a trip to Florence was great (although we did flag in the August heat after several hours of walking). The owners were very friendly and keen to give advice if needed. We were sorry to leave and would be very happy to visit again. We would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

We were lucky to be in the larger separate barn by the road, and to have airconditioning during a heatwave; the smaller barn seems to have little privacy, as it is on the way to the (very fine and well kept) swimming pool. The location is fine, the views are spectacular, parking is excellent, the area as Tuscan as can be. Federica is a lovely and efficient hostess. A small grumble: the beds are very hard, and the kitchen is not very well equipped.

We are just back from a wonderful week long holiday in Podere Monti. The location is on a very quiet road just outside Casole D'Elsa - the only noises are the sounds of the birds and crickets. However it was also very central to all of the places we wanted to visit including the Chianti region, San Giminagno and Sienna. Our two children (6 and 4) loved the pool and we needed a crow bar to get them out of it on the last day. The views from the pool and the property in general are stunning. The two bedroom villa we rented was super clean throughout and had a very well equipped kitchen. As the weather was so good for the week, we opted to pay the small extra charge for the air-conditioning which was definitely worth it. The owners (who live on site) were very helpful - we mentioned a few minor items to be fixed and they were all resolved the following day. There was also a very useful arrival pack and the recommended restaurants that we tried were all excellent. We agreed that we would definitely love to go back and would be very happy to recommend this property to our friends.

I booked the cottage at Podre Monte for 2 weeks some 3 months prior to going and paid a weeks deposit. I received a confirmation letter and voucher – but this only outlined that I was staying for the first week. I sent several emails regarding this matter and was ignored; but not until I started to phone did I get a response regarding a misunderstanding. Not really off to a good start there. We arrived at duly stated date and time (End of May) through the most horrendous weather imaginanable. And this poor weather continued; not the owner’s responsibility I know. On the surface everything looked fine. But as the week progressed the main bedroom became damp – we put this down to the atrocious wet weather. After two weeks the paintwork on the corners of the bed room were falling off due to damp. I realise we should have brought his up with the owners but to be honest the weather situation put a dampener on everything. However on the good days we were by the pool the constant barking of hounds at approx 30 metres were becoming a nuiscence. I raised this matter and was told that “we are in the countryside, what do you expect” Sure I can appreciate that as we live in the countryside ourselves, but the caged and chained hounds across the road was not mentioned in their website. It may be that during hot and dry weather these hounds become docile and the noises cease. That wasn’t the case during good days we were there though. Another point was that the expense of a place like this I’m sure a weekly towel change could be changed to twice weekly. Even so the towels were thin and white. Again because of the bad weather these soon became dirty. We left early to stay elsewhere at a hotel – Cost 110 Euros per day. Daily fresh bedding, big fluffy towels, coffee, and breakfast with a complimentary bottle of wine, just seemed the norm there. The Podere Monti I thought was expensive for what it was and the cottage was rather basic. A small package of essential items would have been useful. Probably at a small charge. And as in other places we have stayed most people tend to leave sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil etc behind. The pool and the view is beautiful enough – but I’m afraid for us the peace and tranquillity seemed to be shattered too much by those blasted hounds.

Stunning setting beautiful gardens with fantastic pool Close to charming real Tuscan village with everything you need for day to day living.Frederica and family couldn't have been more helpful or charming. The best thing for me was no TV and no wi fi so my husband and I talked read and listened to music in the evenings bliss. The apartment is comfortably furnished immaculately clean and the kitchen has everything you need for holiday catering.if I had one comment to make I would suggest a small rug at the side of the bed for putting feet on first thing in the morning or perhaps that is just me showing my age! Would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

This house provided us with the perfect Tuscan experience! Fabulous location, wonderful house and even with the language barrier (my Italian is non-existent!) the owners could not have been nicer! The house was wonderful, everything you could possibly need, spotlessly clean and decorated very sympathetically to the beautiful old buildings. Good links to a variety of lovely little towns/villages in the area. My only criticism was that we were staying in September and the pool wasn't heated! But if you were brave you could go in for a dip!

just back from a weeks stay, stunning location, beautiful farmhouse, owned by a lovely family. If you want the true Tuscan experience, this is the ideal place to stay. Great restaurant in Il Merlo just down the road, easy access to the best area's to visit and if you just want to relax then there's the pool..stunning!! Chill out, swimming or sunbathing while overlooking the most beautiful valley that left me wishing I was more artistic because its begging to be painted. I could go on but just Go See For Yourself, Seriously...The Best !! Be back soon
