This was our second stay here at Borgo for 7 nights in July. We last stayed in 2010 & travelled from Australia this trip as an extended family of 7. If you are looking for a haven of tranquility, old stone renovated apartments set in a lush garden of olives & fruit trees, infinity pool with the local village a walk up the hillside to Casole d'Elsa at your back doorstep, value for money, beautiful, helpful staff that enhance your holiday- you've found it. No air-conditioning in Summer wasn't an issue for our stay as the stone houses are very cool.
The staff were wonderful & helped us with organising our trip to Siena to il Palio & a cooking class in San Gimignano with Cartier.
This place is paradise & as usual it was so difficult to leave. But our hosts left us with a parting wish that 'they will be waiting for our return' Aghhhhh..Borgo al Cerro we hope to come back one day again.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The history of Borgo al Cerro is not easy to reconstruct, but from the old walls one can see signs of fortifications, which were perhaps justified by the fact tht it is located on the old customs road for Casole d'€™Elsa. Our 15 apartments of various sizes, and our 3 one-room apartments have simple and functional furnishings, but they are warm and inviting. All rooms have their original timbered ceilings and Tuscan terracotta flooring. ... more less
