“Friendly hotel with fantastic views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rusall - we were in Como for a wedding and decided to stay in this hotel as it had been recommended by the wedding coordinator. The views from the hotel, garden and pool are absolutely stunning - you really couldn't ask for better. We had a room on the second floor on the corner with a double aspect view so really couldn't have asked for better.

The staff were fantastic and spoke a multitude of languages, they even came to pick us up when we were struggling to find the hotel on arrival and dropped us off at the ferry link when we left too.

It is quite a walk down into Tremezzo - it's not that it's far but the steepness of the incline was a bit of a killer. Don't let that put you off though.

We ate in the restaurant of the hotel a few times during our stay and each time went with what the owner recommended rather than looking at the menu and we were never disappointed. The mushroom pasta at lunchtime was quite possibly the best I have ever had and the four course evening meal is very good value compared with prices in restaurants in the area.

Our stay at Rusall was extremely relaxing. The staff and manger especially were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The location, although not right on the lake, is one of the best in the Lake Como area with unsurpassable views. The room was comfortable and the food was of a reliable standard. The atmosphere was also very welcoming. It is also very good value for money.

Room Tip: Go for a room with a lake view.

A nice hotel with a fantastic view over Lake Como, try to make sure you get a room with a view as there are a couple that don't.

The walk up the hill is a good walk up the hill and will burn the gelato off you had during the afternoon.

The breakfast is OK, they had these pre-package croissants that your better off leaving be. But on a high note they do serve fresh eggs. We had dinner there one night and it was good, reasonably priced, and the wine list s decent.

There's also a nice sitting room off the lobby which is nice if it's raining.

Our room didn't have a safe which we knew about before hand but was still annoying so FYI. Bathroom was huge in our room could have added some to the room proper.

Above all else it was quite which was great.

Room Tip: If you don't go for a room with a view your missing the point of being there.

This hotel is located about 5mins drive up the hill from Tremezzo in a little village called Rogaro. The lake and mountain views from the hotel grounds were fabulously superb and the owner really friendly and helpful. The garden areas were well kept and really nice with lovely little olive trees. The pool area absolutely perfect - a good size, well spaced out with uninterrupted views of beautiful-ness over the lake and mountains (also the pool area was in the sun until the evening). At the pool side, large soft towels were provided and there was a new changing/toilet block - all kept extremely clean. The whole hotel was clean and tidy. We were in room 32 which had a 'mountain view' and if you craned your neck out of the window the lake could just be seen. Our room was clean and had everything we 'needed', but quite dated and basic. Although there was a lift to all of the floors, there was no air con, which we really missed in 30-35oC heat! The bathroom was very small with a half sized bath/shower. Breakfast was really nice with a good variety of fruits, breads, patisseries, yogurts, cheese, ham, choice of eggs etc - we sat outside for breakfast every day overlooking the wonderful views. The evening meal in the hotel restaurant was really, really good - it smelt and tasted delicious and was apparently local produce / fish from the lake. There was an underground car park - which was great as it kept the car cooler and safe. A tennis court / rackets etc could be booked/hired for use too. Overall, this was a fab hotel to stay in mainly because of the location and pool/communal areas, as our room wasn't the best.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a lake view / balcony

Excellent breakfast with a dreamy view of the lake.
Excellent location beginning daily trip.
Franco the owner, welcoming, smiling and helping guests with any questions.

Laying in bed watching the sun rise over the lake and Bellagio was one of my personal highlights. The view is spectacular, you simply cannot get tired of a view like this!. Worth every penny to stay here.
We stayed here for two nights, and as somebody else said, it's 3-star hotel with a 5-star views.
We didn't want to leave!
The service was great, very friendly. The room was clean.
There are many reasons to stay at this hotel - friendly staff, the amazing elevated views, the lovely pool (pool also has amazing views).
We definitely want to return here very soon!

My husband and I stayed in the Hotel Rusall for two nights after driving to the Lake Como region from the Milan airport. Our room was comfortable with a balcony and view of Lake Como and Bellagio across the lake. The hotel has a beautiful and spacious garden, also overlooking the lake and mountains, and a wonderful breakfast is served on the terrace. Their is also a beautiful swimming pool. Because the hotel is situated high on a hill above the lake, the air was fresh and cool. We were warmly welcomed by the owners of the hotel, and had our first meal in Italy on the terrace until our room was ready at 2:00pm - delicious cannelloni. We also had the prix fixe dinner the second night of our stay, and it was superb, with an array of antipasti and salads.

Room Tip: We had a car, which made climbing the hill easy. I imagine it is possible to get a taxi from the ce...
