“Absolutely excellent - I wouldn't stay anywhere else!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

We recently returned from 4 days on the Amalfi Coast staying at Hotel Fico d'India. After a nightmare getting out of Napoli airport we climbed up over the mountain to the absolutely breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast. Winding our way down the hillside the turn off to the hotel is clearly signposted and you are going so slow on those crazy roads you wouldn't miss it. When we arrived we sat in the sun and had an amazing espresso which was only the start. The room was massive and clean with two lovely terrace doors. But the highlight was definitely the restaurant. We never and I mean never eat at hotels, we also like to explore but the food was SO good, Pino is the perfect host and recommends the loveliest food. We ate there all 4 nights and one lunchtime!!! We had a few lunches out and the quality and attention was not the same as Pino's, he spoils you! The complimentary Limoncello and the angel cake are delicious. All of the other guests ate dinner there also. On the topic of food the breakfast is also lovely, these massive freshly baked croissants filled with chocolate..they feel so decadent to eat for breakfast but when in Rome...!

The driving does take a long time to get used to, but I think it is the best way to get around. The Sita buses seemed very frequent (we frequently met them on tight bends!) and well used by everyone. I would recommend Posiatano, which is a beautiful town just park out of the town on the coastal road and walk back in. It's generally easy to park if you are willing to pay €3 or so an hour.

Thank you SO much Pino and family for an amazing stay, you have spoilt us but you made the holiday perfect! We would recommend Fico'India a thousand times!!!

We cannot say enough great things about our recent 5 night stay with Pino and his fabulous family and staff. From the moment we arrived, we felt like family. Fico d'India has it all: graphic, beautiful vistas; spotless, reasonably-priced accomodations; and incredibly delicious, fresh food in generous portions. It is a great point from which to explore the entire Amalfi coast, thanks to Pino's assistance with travel and activity planning. He really means it when he says "for any problem, call me." We will forever treasure our memories of this vacation. Mille grazie, Pino!

Pino and his family worked really hard with big smiles and lots of personal service to make our visit seem like home in one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. The rooms are large with terrific views and very clean and quiet. Bus service is nearby and Pino always goes the extra mile to make sure you get to your destination literally. The father cooks fantastic Italian food with fresh ingredients and exceptional seafood dishes. We stayed 5 nights and ate there 4 of the 5. We even partied with other guests. By the time we left we felt part of the family. Rather than traveling by bus to see the surrounding cites, take the public ferry (7euros each way). The bus is great to take to the quaint village of Ravello. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: It seems as if all the rooms would have a terrific view since they align next to each other, includi...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

We stayed in Fico d'India for one week in April.

Our room (suite) was reasonably large, bright with a terrace overlooking the sea. There is a small fridge to chill your own stuff and a TV.

The room was clean with plenty of towels and blankets. The everyday cleaning has been done to a surprisingly high standard that is expected in more expensive places.

The hotel is located in Furore, which  is a quiet village in the middle of the Amalfi Coast, just between Amalfi and Positano. We found it a great location for exploring the coast, at least as long as you have your own means of transport.

The best of all are Pino (the host) and his staff! Always very friendly and attentive, they made us feel immediately like at home. Breakfasts were served anytime after we woke up, Pino recommended us places to go and see and he was always there to help.

We booked only breakfasts since we wanted to explore more restaurants along the coast, but we had two delicious dinners there and even the house wine was just amazing!

We would recommend Fico d'India to everyone who wants to spend a quiet holiday in a this amazing part of Italy.

This is the place to stay on the Amalfi Coast if you prefer good value, a quiet retreat from the busy tourist towns, don’t mind driving the hairpin roads (or walking to catch the bus), and love Limoncello (best ever and made by Pino's mamma with home-grown lemons). We loved the terraces, family garden; the patio was a great place to take in views, have conversation and a drink. Room and property has lovely views and is a short walk away from a gorgeous (600 step) stone path to the sea. Had a comfortable bed, though shower was the tiniest we've ever seen and had to wait forever for warm water. I thought the continental breakfast choices were acceptable, spouse did not. We were not impressed with local seafood specialties, especially the octopus and squid dishes. Wife got sick after first meal (suspected food poisoning, possibly from marinated anchovies?) while she was convinced it was the Totani e Patate. However, pharmacist at nearby Pharmacia made it all better. My most memorable and enjoyable meal was the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio ordered "off-menu" on our last night. Restaurant hostess, Antonia, was very pleasant and service oriented. As others noted, Pino was indeed a great host! He was very friendly, made me smile ever time he called me "Michele", generously shared his mamma's limoncello recipe (the local lemons make it special), and was genuinely concerned about making our stay on the Amalfi Coast comfortable and memorable. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend this B&B to our friends and family.
