“Take relax here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

I recently stayed at Monastero Santa Rosa and it was incredible magic! The room was perfect, very spacious, and clean. The bathroom was worthy of a 5 star hotel, with bath and separate shower, double sink and courtesy "Ortigia" excellent. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant on the terrace deserves a romantic dinner. The Spa is one of the most beautiful ever seen with treatments "Santa Maria Novella". The real star is the beautiful outdoor infinity pool with views of the Gulf incredile. Hotel highly recommended!

We spent 3 fabulous nights at the Monastero Santa Rosa and our only regret is that we could not have stayed longer. The staff could not have been nicer, friendlier or more professional. Everyone knew our name within 24 hours, where we were from and even our food allergies.
This is a truly first class hotel and nothing has been forgotten...they even passed a basket of multi colored pashminas at dinner as the weather cooled. Too bad there are not 6 stars in Italy as this hotel has earned them!!!

Room Tip: Loved our Mini Suite

Great location and beautiful hotel. Cliff top location provides breath taking views. SPA is cleverly designed to maximise use of space and unique features of the monastery structure.

Restaurant chef Christoph Bob and restaurant manager Daniel run a great team which provided many highlights.

Given there are only 20 rooms the service levels overall are patchy. The hotel lacks a personal touch to make you feel really special. Despite letting the front desk team know about our special anniversary there was no warm greeting or even a reference to this upon arrival. The restaurant team were great after I informed them of this. Curious why the front desk had not notified the restaurant or other staff members. It's the little things that the staff do which make a hotel stay truly great. Given the many promises in the marketing materials there is plenty more to be done here. Another service lapse which completely threw us - on the first day we ordered drinks from the bar as we admired the view. We were presented with the bill before we had even taken one sip! We were not going anywhere as we had just arrived so again demonstrated the lack of attention to the small touches which could turn this hotel into a great one.

Writing a simplistic review of the Monastero Santa Rosa does not do this exquisite hotel justice. The climax of a wonderful 3 week honeymoon in Italy, the Monastero Santa Rosa exceeded all expectations.

Upon arrival, my wife and I were immediately met by reception staff. After a refreshing drink and a short tour of the property, we were shown to our room. Even though we had booked one of the smaller rooms, we were treated with such service that we felt like royalty.

The first afternoon we arrange for a "togetherness" couples package. After arriving off of a cruise ship in Civitavecchia early that morning and then a journey involving two trains and a winding drive, the spa was an absolute dream.

Dinner in the hotel was absolutely perfect. I have a dairy intolerance and the staff was so attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious and many of the fruits and vegetables were grown right on site.

When we returned to our room, the chamber service had left a bottle of Proseco and flower pedals in the shape of a heart on our bed. The pedals were freshly picked from the gardens.

The next day, the Giro D'Italia passed on the road below the hotel. Instead of going in to town, we instead watched the race pass by from the hotel's terrace and enjoyed the infinity pool. The temperature of the pool was absolutely perfect - refreshing, but not too cold or too warm.

We only stayed for two nights. It is an expensive hotel, but everything was worth it. For the service, the view, the quality of the food and experience, it's actually a very good value.

This is a beautiful hotel with some of the best views on the Amalfi coast and one of the best I have stayed at worldwide.

Clearly designed by a visionary (the attention to detail and sympathetic homage to the pre-existing monastery is wonderful), this combined with the unique cliff top location would be enough to make this special.

In fact it is just the start- the tiered gardens were perfectly manicured and provided a soothing environment in which to wander or relax- the lit open-fire torches that appear at dusk dotted around the exterior provide further visual drama.

The spa facilities (included in the price of stay) were a simply wonderful place to spend an hour or 2 and the quality of the treatments (at extra cost) were fantastic.

Dining was one of the greatest of many pleasures here- the waiting staff (and the same goes for all staff) were attentive without ever being intrusive and were friendly, skilled and knowledgeable. We were greeted by name like old friends every time we visited the restaurant and little touches like this appeared throughout the hotel. The food was beautifully presented, using wonderful local ingredients, prepared superbly and the menu catered for all tastes.

Rooms are spacious and the bed divine- this and the bathroom echoed the rest of the property in using the highest quality fittings and was the perfect place to refresh in the mornings or relax in the bath in evening. Needless to say, the property is in immaculate condition throughout.

There are so many other wonderful touches- far too many to mention- but a special mention for the service and ambience. From cleaning staff to the manager, everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Despite the hotel being full, we rarely encountered other guests apart from at poolside and in the restaurant and it certainly never felt busy- the feel was relaxed, yet attentive always.

I wouldn't change a thing and look forward to staying again!

Room Tip: I stayed in a room overlooking Amalfi in the distance and found the view wonderful

Our stay at the Monastero Santa Rose is one we will never forget. The hotel is gorgeous and a perfect place for relaxation. The room was beautifully appointed, the gardens lush and the views stunning. But real credit must be given to what made our stay perfect in every way: the amazing staff! There were countless little things - a shawl on a cool evening, locating & delivering a lost cell phone, a bowl of fresh blueberries after I remarked that they were my favorite. In addition to attention to detail, the staff have such warm, lovely personalities - they were such a joy to interact with!

Also, do not skip out on using the spa - it is world-class! We had massage & facial appointments, but I also visited the sauna/steam room/water therapy pool daily. Again, the staff there was amazing. We will return - hopefully soon!

We've just come back from a long weekend at Monastero Santa Rosa. In short, it is the best hotel I've ever stayed at.

There's so much to say but the only way to really find out is to experience it. Firstly, the building. The attention to detail is incredible - everything is finished to an incredibly high standard. Then the staff. With only 20 room they are attentive, personal, discrete - you are made to feel like the only guest there.

The food is some of the best I've eaten. Christoph Bob is a great chef (and very friendly too) - the smoked lobster was my highlight.

The location makes the whole experience come together. You're not in the clouds or above them - you're sitting with the gods. From the view from the sunset terrace to the views across the bay from the infinity pool to the view from the rooms - absolutely incredible. Finally, the spa. High standard, great staff, amazing treatments.

Of course, I am biased. I proposed whilst there and she said yes! But even without this, I've nothing bad to say at all. It is expensive, but when you receive this sort of experience then you've received far more back in return. And speaking of returns, I can't wait to get back...
