“Perfect stay on the Amalfi Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

We absolutely loved our stay at La Scogliera! It is a small B&B run by Pino and his wife, Pina. The room was beautiful, clean & very comfortable with absolutely amazing views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The bathroom was clean and big, and even had a wonderful view of the sea from the shower! Our room had many amenities, such as a private safe, in-room refrigerator, comfortable bed, extra blankets and pillows, and plenty of hanging/storage space. The views out of the 2 balconies/windows were nothing short of spectacular. Watching the sun rise over the sea, while laying in bed the first morning, I knew we had found the perfect spot to get away and relax. Watching the sun set from the outdoor seating area/balcony, while sipping complimentary champagne that same night, confirmed it.
Pino and Pina were the perfect hosts and are among the nicest people we've ever met. They went above and beyond to make sure we were having a wonderful vacation. They are extremely knowledgeable & helpful and took the time to make sure we knew where we were going and offered tips on things to do and see. Pino answered all of our questions by email, long before we ever showed up, including sending us train and bus information on how to get to La Scogliera. The breakfasts were great and were a perfect way to start our days. We were asked every evening what time we wanted breakfast, and like clockwork, warm croissants, fresh juice, yogurt, and coffee (the best coffee I had in all of Italy!) were waiting for us at our requested time.
The location is perfect. Atrani is a short 10-minute walk to the busy town of Amalfi - but is worlds away. Atrani is a sleepy little town, where the locals out number the tourists by at least 100 to 1 (not so in Amalfi!). It was truly magical to spend our evenings in town, when the people congregate at the Pizza to socialize and where the kids all come out to play. There are several restaurants with excellent food and the beach provides a nice way to spend a lazy afternoon.
If you have a choice between bus and boat, I'd highly recommend taking the 35-minute boat ride from Salerno to Amalfi and making the short walk to La Scogleria from Amalfi. The bus ride, while beautiful, was the least favorite part of the trip. The buses are usually full (standing room only), the road is extremely narrow & twisting, and the 14-mile trip takes an hour and 15 minutes. Thank you Pino & Pina for a wonderful stay!

We loved La Scogliera! We stayed for 4 nights in the suite and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The rooms were beautiful with amazing views. Pino and Pina were simply wonderful and did everything they could to make our stay special. Thank you so much!

I dont think we could have asked for a better host, location, or room staying on the Amalfi coast. The beach was so much nicer than the other towns and the town much more peaceful. You are so close to Amalfi (about 10 min walk) that you have all the benefits with none of the hustle of Amalfi. Pino and Pina were excellent hosts and very knowledgeable and helpful with planning (since we had done none in advance). It was perfect!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Blue room which I think is smaller than the other but still wonderful with a huge t...

La Scogliera is a lovely family run B&B in Atrani, Italy. While it is on the Amalfi coast, and only a few minutes walk from Amalfi, it is in quiet, quaint and lovely Atrani, which turned out to be our favourite of the coastal towns. The B&B is in a historic family home right on the coast. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom was great. Breakfast was ready for us with fresh giant croissants (the best I've ever eaten), coffee, tea and juice.

Pino and Pina are the best hosts you could have. They were at the bus stop to meet us as we arrived from Salerno (I called as we boarded the bus to let them know we were on our way). They took us back to their home, a few minutes walk away and helped us to settle in.

While english is not their first language, they are certainly understood. I used my highschool french and found conversing with Pino was easiest that way. Pino had many sight seeing ideas for us - more ideas than we had time or energy to do! He had local bus, boat and train schedules handy and provided the weather forecast as well.

Pino was such a great host he even took us by scooter so that we wouldn't miss our boat to Capri in the morning! What an exciting way to start the day!

Atrani is a lovely town with great restaurants, interesting winding streets to explore, a lovely pebble beach on the Mediterranean (which is warm enough to swim almost all year). They have boat and scooter rentals available and the local bus is excellent.

And best of all, Atrani is not a tourist trap like so many other villages. Here you can meet and get to know real Italians and experience life as they live it. It is close enough to visit all the other charming shopping towns, but makes a great quiet place when you are tired at the end of the day.

Add Atrani to your Italian itinerary and stay with Pino at La Scogliera! You won't regret your decision.

Room Tip: Lots of room options. Just let them know what you need. They have fully independent appartments or...

We just returned from a 2 1/2 stay in Italy. By far our favorite stay was at La Scogliera. Our room was beautiful, clean and we had the most amazing view of the sea. Pino and Pina welcomed us into their home as if we were family and did everything to ensure our stay was perfect. Our stay was short but eventful as we spent two days at Atrani's beach ... just steps away from their B&B; we walked to Amalfi which took ten minutes one night, took a bus to Ravello another evening (30 minute)- watched the sun-set then had the most amazing dinner at a place that Pino recommended (I believe it was Cumpa Cosimo)- it was truly the most beautiful place we have ever seen - the following evening we took another bus to Positano (45 minutes) another fantastic place to visit.

I highly recommend this B&B and when we return to Italy this lovely B&B will be on our itinerary.

Thank you Pino & Pina ... for everything!!!!!!!!

I had the absolute pleasure of staying here in late August. I had the double room with the large veranda over looking Atrani's beach. Pino and Pina and their lovely daughter are reason alone to stay here----their hospitality and care is exceptional. The rooms are simply gorgeous, clean, and the views are unreal. I was traveling alone and Pino set me up with these wonderful two girls from London and we had a ball during my two days. Definitely take the 5 minute walk from Amalfi and stay here---I dream of going back daily.

A brilliant B&B
We stayed here for 10 nights for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. Have never felt so welcome in a B&B. Pinot and his wife are simply lovely and will help you with anything that you need. Pinot will book tours, recommend restaurants, find out bus times, order in gluten free food for breakfast if needed and is a genuinely really nice man.
The B&B is perfectly located. A 2minute walk to the beach and a further 2 minute walk to the square, bars and restaurants in Atrani, and a 5 minute walk the other way through a pedestrian tunnel brings you out in the beautiful Amalfi.
Can’t recommend this B&B more highly. A perfectly located, clean, well kept and delightful B&B.
Hope to visit again one day.
