“nice view, very good food quality, nice waiters and cleaning staff but no professionnality of receptionists!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012 via mobile

the views of the restaurant are just amazing, the food in the restaurant is very good and the waiters and waitresses are very professional. the cleaning staff is very nice either. but the staff in the reception is not very professional: the first day i saw a big black snake catching a mouse next to the pool, i went to the reception to inform them about this, no reaction of them but :ah yes. 2 days later we gave some clothes to the laundry, we should get it back the day after, as we didn't get it back, we asked the receptionist when we would get it back. the only reaction was: i don't know that depends on the laundry...... for a hotel that claims to be a 5 star hotel this was quite annoying!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for staying with us at The Hotel Raito. It is always our great pleasure to take care of your stay. Thanks again for your comments, beside the great comments we do apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. Actually it's the first time we hear of snakes by the pool or somewhere else in the Hotel... I would like to get this opportunity also to apologize for the unprofessional behaviour of our receptionists. We will pass over these comments to the general manager in order to avoid similar disadvantages in the future. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit. Your sincerely Marilisa D'Arienzo

After a week at this hotel, I would give it *, no more.

First, the pros. The rooms are big with high ceilings and the view is great (ask for a sea view). It is well located.

Now the cons. It is surprisingly dirty. In the room, wall was stained, bathroom door was torn and almost impossible to open

The food at breakfast was what you would get in a bad cafeteria, absolutely insane!!

The service in general was ineffective and not friendly at all. Very little English was spoken at front desk.

You can tell that this was somehow a nice hotel, but it is now squatted by uncaring staff and managers! That type of service and level of cleanliness are simply unacceptable in a ***** hotel.

Upon arrival I, who had booked a Superior room with a terrace and a view of the sea, was provided with a standard room exclusive of sea view. I obviously complained and was informed that all other rooms were booked up. However, my response that, in that case, I would find another hotel suddenly resulted in the availability of a room with a terrace and view of the sea – albeit still a standard room, which I, grudgingly, accepted.

As it turned out, the room was equipped with a malfunctioning TV, a minibar that had not been replenished after the previous guests, 4 wall sockets on the blink, beds as hard as rock, and the bathroom shower was adjustable to either icy-cold or scalding. The hotel staff, whom I obviously informed about this, only reacted with annoyance – for how could I, who was after all staying at a 5-star hotel, have the audacity to make complaints?

At home, I had – as requested by the hotel – booked my therapeutic massage in advance and, consequently, I was in possession of the hotel's confirmation thereof. But, once again, the hotel had made a mistake with the result that we could not get the therapy we had ordered which, however, should turn out to be fortunate since when, at long last, we received treatment – scheduled to be of 40 minutes' duration but in reality only lasting for 30 minutes – it was of such poor quality that my 4-year-old son could have provided better massage. The spa-area staff don't speak English, they are grumpy and they leave the impression that they would rather not be at work. To date, my most disappointing spa experience.

The only small asset of this hotel is their restaurant as it provides quite reasonable quality – excepting breakfast, though, which is a sorry sight.

Checking out of the hotel, I was nevertheless billed for the spa treatment which I never received; and, thus, my stay was terminated as it began: with arguing.

I cannot recommend strongly enough that anybody going holidaying on and at the Amalfi Coast find a different hotel.

We were referred here for dinner. The view is amazing and the food was first class. We were given a "special" menu since we were referred by an establishment which didn't serve food. The menu we were given had an appetizer choice section, first course choice section, second course choice section and dessert choice section. When we ordered, the waiter allowed us to choose from the choices then asked "what for dessert?" Each of us made a selection. The food came out and was very good. The bill came at the end and that's when the surprise was handed out. We were charged over 34 euro for our four desserts; (3) 2 scoop gelato bowls (one was missing the blueberry sauce as indicated on the menu but I didn't want to make a fuss when it arrived) and a fresh fruit plate. When we inquired as to why we were charged for dessert, the Maitre D' told us "dessert is not included. You're allowed only (3) selections with the special menu." Funny, because it didn't have that small detail listed on the menu and the server didn't mention it to us, but encouraged our dessert order.
We were VERY angry and just left the Hotel.

We just returned from a wonderful trip - only our 2nd tour in 40+ years beside company award trips. We were very pleased with the entire trip, well organized, great guides and sites. We covered almost everything we wanted to see. The hotel was lovely, setting lovely.

Room Tip: We had a balcony room overlooking the bay - beautiful!

This hotel was recommended by our travel agent & we found it inconsistent at best. Reception staff do not seem knowledgable about the area & their English is poor. They recommend making reservations at hotel restaurant but doing so clearly isn't needed. Restaurant service was terrible but bar service was okay. Hotel does a lot of private party/wedding stuff so if you are looking for quiet, you may not get it here. Physical setting is perhaps the nicest in the area and the views are great but it is offset by the poor service.
