“Good place to stay for Amalfi coast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

We had a very warm welcome from Lina and Gaetano at La Casa di Donn'Amelia in Vietri. Their B & B is a delightful place, with just two rooms in the top floor of the house, situated in La Molina about 2km from the centre of Vietri. Lina and Gaetano (who speak French as well as Italian) went out of their way every day to spend time with us at breakfast, and sometimes at the end of the day, to make sure we were enjoying our stay and wanting to give us tips for places to visit. Vietri itself is a good entry point to the coast from the east end, and also just 20 minutes drive from the ferry at Salerno which is itself a great way of experiencing the coastal strip.

We felt most welcome by LIna and Gaetano. We are a family of 5 from the U.S. and it worked out well for the kids to have their own room. The interior design of the home is comfortable and fun! The location is very good: it provides easy access to major freeways leading north and the towns of the Amalfi coast. Neither Lina nor Gaetano speak much English, and it was enjoyable to dust off our French. The home itself is difficult to find initially, so leave yourself plenty of time. We would certainly stay there again... if we are lucky enough to return to the Amalfi coast! One word of caution: our stay coincided with a local festival all 3 nights that we were there... and it took place literally outside our window until about midnight. This made noise and parking a problem.

Room Tip: We used 2 of the 3 rooms (1 with bath & 1 without) and they were both great.

We had a very pleasant stay at the B&B. Our hosts, Lina and Gaetano opened their beautiful home to us and made us feel very comfortable. Their restaurant recommendation was excellent and we enjoyed some really delicious Italian food for a reasonable price. The breakfast was good as well. The rooms were beautifully decorated. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer.

We visited Lina and Gaetano for two nights on our most recent vacation to Italy.

We very much enjoyed our conversations with Lina (in French) and found both Lina and Gaetano to be the type of people that draw out the best in those fortunate to encounter them. They were extremely helpful in terms of providing us with information (restaurants, beaches, archeological sites, maps, etc.) regarding Vietri, Amalfi, Pompeii, and the surrounding area.

The apartments are very clean and very comfortable and we had no issues with the accommodations. I found it to be a very nice little room to call a home while we explored the surrounding area. We would return to visit Lina and Gaetano without hesitation.

Our stay at Lina and Gaetano's B&B was the last leg of our three-week trip in Europe. We had been staying at hotels and appreciated their warm reception and understanding of our needs. Our room was beautifully decorated with typical ceramics and it offered a comfortable bed, a sofa, couple of chairs, and a wardrobe. We liked the fact that upon our arrival we found something to drink in the refrigerator. The bathroom was very clean and it had a good shower. They also provided a hair dryer. Breakfast was good and it was always ready when we wanted it. The train stop in Vitri sul Mare up the hill from the B&B makes it convenient if you want to visit Pompeii. There are also buses which go to Amalfi, Positano, Ravello. As other guests have pointed out, Lina and Gaetano make you feel at home. I truly enjoyed talking to them and would definitely return. Their assistant Pina also added to our positive experience. With a cheerful attitude, she was helpful with carrying our luggage and very accommodating with our requests. Rita and Rebecca, USA

Lina and Gaetano welcomed us with open arms to their little B&B and we felt like a part of their family. The room gave a very warm "homy" feeling and was perfect for a couple. Every morning the typical Italian breakfast was served and we always enjoyed the little chatts with Lina while eating it. The location of the B&B was good for trips around the amalfi coast and Pompei and whenever we needed some advice or tips, the door to Lina and Gaetano was always open. We'll especially take with us the limoncello that was enjoyed the last evening at the terass of the host, it was great!

We enjoyed our 2 nights with Lina. The house was very clean and modern. The host made our trip. She offered advise and went as far as to go online and find bus schedules for us. She recommended a wonderful restaurant within walking distance. The breakfast was very basic, but she did provide juice, water and beer(one of each) (free of charge) in the room's refrigerator. This is a good home base to visit Amalfi, Positano and Ravello (all within one hour away). I would return. Be prepared to carry luggage up the stairs. (no lift)
