“Lutania beach: great location, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Just got back after spending 12 days at Lutania beach. Really nice experience: a sea view room (highly recommended, the sea is so close), an AI option (quality food and reasonable selection of free drinks), friendly staff (it started with Elena's smile at the reception), clean rooms, no stupid loud "animation", just some bearable Agadoo kind of stuff for small kids (from 9 pm to 10 pm), some national dance and music performed by really professional artists (once or twice during our stay), mostly quiet crowd (Brits, Czechs, Germans, Italians, Lithuanians, Russians,...), nice patio for summing up the day over a glass (or two) of your favorite drink, the town within 7 min. of walking. Will seriously consider coming again.

G&A, Lithuania

Room Tip: Definitely, go for sea view rooms: 102 - 112, 202 - 212

We chose Lutania Beach with my family for one more time and the impressions was again fantastic!!!

The major comments in bullet points are the following:

- Room with direct sea view is the best choice

- Food was as always delicious

- Staff was very friendly and polite

- We did not understand how quickly we were back again in the airport in order to come back to Athens

That refers directly to the staff who clearly don't want to be there particularly the bar- man we nick-named grumpy who was Playing hide and seek with us every time we wanted a drink! As for the food - four star quality in reality we think 2 stars must have fallen off the board in the wind ! Which was really strong at times so hold on to your lilos! More chance of finding lord Lucan than the entertainers- of which there were 2 "full time" who thought that throwing a ball into the water and walking away constituted a fun half hour of water sports and polo! The highlight of the entire weeks entertainment program was "bingo" and I kid u not a game of .....musical chairs. A huge revamp is required for this faded hotel which has seen better days although they are trying hard to keep it well maintained. We only ever do one day trip away and this year did two and went out to the nearby town in the evening which speaks volumes. By the time 6pm came we were awash with cheapy wine and allowed to get a "proper drink" -which was limited to a few poorly made cocktails and gin and vodka. One good thing -apart from coming home - what doesnt kill u makes u stronger. Instead of throwing me of the nearby cliff for booking such a sub- standard holiday my partner has a great sense of humour and laughed us through the entire week of awfulness!

Just back from 7 night stay. No air conditioning! Room was excruciatingly hot all day and night! Even with the blind down, curtains closed balcony door open and noisy electric fan on! Result was covered in mosquito(?) bites all over. Am now thinking could be bed bug bites from the very dated bed, carpet and curtains and covers!!!!! NO HOT WATER!!! Although reported daily, was told that 'for security reasons!' the boiler must not be heated any higher and pumps to rooms from the basement! Also, sandy in colour when it leaves the taps! Mini fridge? We complained that it was not working and an 'engineer?' came, pulled it from the cupboard it was in, turned it upside down and explained that there was no motor in it to provide any cooling system! TV? No English speaking channels available except an American channel showing shares prices? All inclusive does not provide bottled water, only a machine supplying water tasting of chemicals! Only local wine & beer provided that you help yourself to and soft drinks that do not taste of anything recognisable! Coffee machine, again tasting of strange chemicals and often out of order! Food?! Very basic, luke warm and apart from salads and bread hardly edible! Snacks were in the form of 15 bread rolls and some dry cake! Entertainment? None! At 10am & 4pm a very young Italian girl who could not speak any other languages would wander around the pool asking if you wanted to ‘do gyn!’ (think she meant gym, but no-one ever took up the offer so she just sat around for half an hour with the same cd playing quietly!) In the evening, the ‘barman’ played a cd at the pool/snack bar for people who found the rooms too hot to spend any time in!!! Outside, the view from the pool area was lovely! However, the sunbeds were old and uncomfortable as was the too hot to walk on wooden decking surrounding the whole pool area! On arrival, the receptionist told us ‘lovely hotel, very relax, no panic!’. We were not given any ‘welcome pack’ with information except for local bus timetable and meal times! There was no info on emergency procedures or even fire exits! The whole hotel is very dated and unwelcoming! Staff not helpful! Couldn’t wait to leave!

So iv just got back yesterday from 8 nights stopping at the Lutania beach - The hotel is a 4* some web sites show 5* but its a 4*. I found this hotel to be very clean throughout the gardens were immaculate. The staff were helpful and friendly we went on a all inclusive basis firstly the drinks are self service the spirits do not come out til 6pm - but beer and wine are available all day as well as water and soft drink/ tea and coffee. Breakfast is good large variety to choose from from cooked to continentaland yogurts and fruits. Lunch time was also good plenty of salad usually each day would be meat one day and fish another Dinnertime was slightly hit and miss all i can say is try it as it will taste better than it looks. The hotel is in a good location - when you come out the front door you turn right and after only a few mins you will be on the main strip its only small but has some bars restaurants and gift shops, the hotel is also on the beach you have a stairway to walk down to get on the beach which is mostly pebbles which i found a pain to walk on. Overall a nice clean hotel with decent food in a nice location would definatly return.

We stayed at this hotel for summer holiday in 2011. This hotel was recommended by one friend who works in travel agency, as a calm and pleasant place. My rating is a bit influenced by location of our room just next to path leading to other rooms or as the way to sea or swimming pool, so there was no privacy on balcony or inside through French window, despite amazing seaview. We tried to change the room but offered rooms were dark and on the side with noise from neighbouring hotel. Otherwise, regarding the cleanness we have no remark, but the bathroom would be worthy of reconstruction (particularly the bath). Cleaning was made every day, including change of towels. Facilities were running well, except for a bit noisy air-conditioning (but working). The swimming pool would deserve more maintenance service and the tiling around definitely different material (black painted wood made it so hot as it would not be a problem to fry eggs on it :)). The food was tasty, atlhough always the same around. The staff behaved in friendly manner (except one local older Greek), others mainly Czechs and Slovaks (they could teach Greeks from them helpfulness and attitude). There were some animation programs (bingo etc.), but we didn't attend. The sea is very clean, with pebble beach along, neverthless 3 km far there is beautiful sand beach. All in all, I recommend this hotel.
