“10 out of 10. Not sure what others are moaning about”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2009

Arrived at the hotel at 4am to be greeted by a happy Greek man who could not speak much English but a lot more then I can Greek. Off to the room to get that welcome sound of the free air con coming on as soon as you insert the card key.Room was basic but very clean and had all you needed for your stay. Fridge and TV stays on even when you leave the room even though all the other sockets go off with the lights and air con so any drinks left in the fridge are still nice and cold if you have been out and about all day and night. Rooms cleaned daily with clean towels and sheets. No hair dryer in the room so just go to the reception and collect free of charge.
A couple of hours sleep then opened the belcony door to the sound of the tropic's and a great view of wonderfully kept gardens and massive pool with plenty of sun beds. Off to the restaurant for Breakfast, all you could won't and a great selection.
Back to the room to change and have a day by the pool. We have a four year old so needed shade from the sun and we found it, plenty of room for everyone. The kiddies pool is excellent the biggest we have come across and even if you take the little one into the big pool it slopes gradually. Animation team are great fun and do not hassle you if you don't won't to join in the fun and games. Dinner time and yet again more selection then you will ever need.
The AI deal pays off as with the heat you will need heaps of drinks and ice cream.
In the evening off to the bar for a drink before dinner. You do have to queue at the bar to get served but it is a good policy as you don't get people jumping in front of you if you have been waiting (not even the Germans). The self servive beer keg is great. Dinner is the same standard as the other two settings with more choice then you can really need.
The evening Animation team are great wih a Mini Disco for the kiddies between 9 & 9:30.or if you enjoy a walk then Kolymbia town is not to far away and there you will find heaps of shops, bars etc.
If you do not won't to stay by the pool then there is a public bus stop just down from the Hotel you are first to get picked up or the last to get dropped off. They run very regular and are new, comfortable and cheap, only 3 euro to Rodos which is a must to go to,old and new town. Also if you have endless energy visit the Waterpark its a great day out. Just be warned if you are going by bus it drops you at the bottom of a very steep hill as the park has been cut out through a mountain.
The Hotel is a little bit out off the way but that is ideal if you won't a quite time but not to far away if you need noise and beer. It was ideal for us as we have a four year old who we did won't to be woken up at all hours by drunks or traffic.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the golden odessey for 1 week and thouroughly enjoyed ourselves. Luckily when we booked we chose to pay £10 each extra for a 'superior room', it has got to be said the room was superb, clean, well presented and air conditioned. We were wondering what the other rooms were like, if any worse for £10 less each per week. Well we found out when we were kicked out of our room at 12PM on Saturday when the coach transfer wasnt picking us up until 3AM Sunday morning! and we were NOT allowed a late check out by the irritating, unhelpful, rude reception staff. We were allowed an hour in a vacant room to shower, the vacant room was a normal 'Family room' in a different block to our 'Superior' room, and it was appauling, it was dirty, cold, empty, falling apart and the front door didnt close properly, this causing an infestation of mosquito's and bugs. On the other hand, the food was nice, repetitive as said in other reviews, but nice, MOST of the staff were helpful and nice (bar the moody daytime bar lady and the receptionists). The entertainment team were excellent and always around laughing and joking, setting up games, water polo ect... . The grounds of the hotel are excellent too, grass and greenery well kept, nice areas to sit, nice water features, the pool is very nice, alot of sunbeds, some in shaded areas. Overall we loved our holiday, would consider going back, just take our advice, if your going to book this hotel... book a superior room! and have a much much much better stay.

OK to begin with no one who goes to the Golden Odyssey paid lots for their holiday and therefore in the old adage that you should expect to "get what you pay for" remains true...The Golden Odyssey exceeded my expectations. After reading some of the reviews previously on this hotel it really drives me mad when I see people complaining about standards/food/service etc when they actually paid very little for the holiday. Let me tell you that I have worked extensively in the hotel sector previously and nowhere in the UK will offer better standard for the price. Period. I also doubt if there are very many in the Euro zone that will do better either.
I have just returned from a two week break with my girlfriend and the hotel was full. We spoke to a great deal of people on the holiday from 18-80 and every one of them were happy and delighted with the holiday and only had very minor complaints.
I wont go on long as that is the job of the needless complainers out there, however the food was excellent (I have stayed at 4 and 5 star that were not nearly as good); the staff always friendly (especially the restaurant staff and night-time bar staff); the rooms basic but clean (who spends all the time in the room anyway?); the entertainment staff are always keen and friendly and most people took part in at least one activity.
Only complaint is that the hotel is a bit away from the main street, however, if you can walk this isn't a big deal. The reception staff are a bit rude but who cares they get the job done! Also the inclusive alcohol is weak but you kind of expect this.
In conclusion....great little complex (especially for families), food very good (except breakfast), rooms basic but clean. Staff, generally excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.....Don't know what the complainers are on about. Considering what I paid I would rate 9 out of 10.

I went to this hotel this time last year, I did not write a review then because I just wanted to forget it, I have just spent half an hour searching for the hotel as I couldnt even remember it. This hotel is horrible and I'm no where near fussy, we arrived after dropping everyone else off at their nice hotels just my luck we got dropped off at the worst. The rooms are basic, clean but two beds, a tv and a desk thats it the bathroom was old and dated. The town is old and run down there is nothing to do, the pubs and shops have no one in, I presume all of the hotels are all inclusive which shows as you walk around the town, which you have to get to via a dirt track. The food at the hotel is horrible and boring, we spent most of the holiday eating crisps and biscuits from the shop as there was never anything nice and I love my food, hard boiled eggs, onion rings! bread, cereals and stuuf for breakfast, one day their was crepes I thought it was christmas, dinners were awful chips chips and more chips because everything else was disgusting. The manager bless him worked his heart out but he had no luck with this hotel. The entertainment was ok during the day, water polo, darts etc they tried their best. At night, we sat in our room with a bottle of malibu or we spent most of our nights in a little bar down the road, the staff at the bar looked over worked and stressed, the queue was always massive so the nights we did go down there we took our bottle with us. The Tsambika beach is pebble, there was another one close by which was nicer but I cannot remember the name. We spent most of our money going to Lindos (which is beautiful), Rhodes and Faliraki but its pointless going all inclusive if all you want to do is get out of the hotel as the taxi rides weren't cheap. Another family complained and got moved as they were so disgusted with the place. Th only good thing is the weather was scorching hot but thats it.

Ok, so the hotel isn't the best I'v been to but it was good, we arrived at night and was vaguely directed to our room, we managed to find it after about 30 minutes, but that may just be our inability to understand directions! The room was stiflingly hot, air con wasn't working so trudged to the reception only to find before the 15th of June you have to pay 6 euros a day to 'hire' it, and an additional 25 euros for the safe! The beds were firm to put it mildly. The entertainment was good, 3 euro for bingo, music, water polo, darts, the usual stuff. The food was VERY repetative but at least it was edible. The weather was brilliant, far hotter than the guides tell you, the pool was good and quite clean. You are quite isolated at this hotel so if you are looking for a relaxing break this would be ideal, can't really complain, it's not the worst hotel I've been to by far.

Stayed at this hotel in May for a week, went with another couple. We were all a little worried about this hotel after reading the other reviews and went not expecting a lot.We should not have worried, the rooms were very clean,I was overlooking the gardens and my friends over looked the pool. The food was nice, Ahmed and the girls in the restuarant did a great job, very friendly and helpful. There was always a choice of food and if something had nearly gone, Ahmed soon got the chef to bring more. We never had a problem getting drinks either day or night. The only thing i could fault was there was an awful smell in the corrider (a bit like bad drains) a couple of times, but if was fine in the rooms. This hotel is in a beautiful spot, about a 20 min walk to the centre of Kolymbia, but they do have a shuttle bus which we used once, and the bus stop is right outside the hotel so you can go to Rhodes Town and Lindos quite easily. The gardens and the pool areas were very well kept with plenty of sunbeds and plenty of space and shade if you wanted it. All in all we had a great time and I would definatly go back, but at the same time in early May, as it could be very different in peak season, but isnt that the case whereever you go.
