This was a great place to stay for a week in July for a family of 4. We mainly wanted a great pool in delightful sunshine for the day, and then have the ability to stroll out to restaurants in the evening, and that's just what we got (with a couple of days 'out and about' to break it up).
The apartment was just as we'd hoped, including that it was very clean (the cleaners came in every day, excepting Friday when they have the day off), there was no noise after say 10.30 pm, the apartment was cool enough that we didn't even need the optional (extra) air conditioning, and the other people staying at Paleos were very pleasant people. All good.
Some of the other reviews had given me the impression that Mama would be extremely outgoing, whereas we found we found her a 'slow burner', and since we often went to the village or elsewhere in the evenings, we perhaps didn't get to know her as well as others. That's not at all a criticism, we found no fault and she seemed to be a lovely lady (by way of a great example, she kindly bought our eldest daughter a superb cake when she turned 10 whilst on the holiday!). Maria and Giannis could also be quite dry. I mention these observations only so that if anyone else arrives at Paleos and feels that they have not experienced the outgoing natures suggested by some reviews then... well, I suggest that's okay!
Our favourite activity was to stay by Paleos pool, it - and the surrounding sunbeds and the proximity of the bedrooms and the pool bar - was ideal. But we also highly rated:
- Rhodes Old Town, which we got to by taxi for 12 euros each way. It's worth tracking down Kostas for food, wowsers! I used Google Maps on my smartphone to track the location down and note to look for Pithagora street
- In the nearest village, Ialyssos, Knights of Olde (restaurant), for great service, which we walked to in about 15 mins. The walk into Ialyssos isn't picturesque, it's a busy Rhodes-style road, but worth it
- The Jeep Safari tour for 56 euros per person including kids, plus 10 euros per person for a simple BBQ lunch. Lots of money but what a laugh! (I drove, and despite that we're still alive and very happy we went)
Paleos apartments was an ideal base for exploring Rhodes, but more than that, it's an ideal place to kick off your shoes and relax, knowing that it's good value.
I suspect they're all good. I had apartment 26, facing the pool, very handy
