This hotel is located somehow far from the Rodos town, soit's a little inconvenient to go and return from the sightseein in Rodos town. And also there are very few restaurant near the hotel. About other matters this hotel is good. Rooms are clean and staffs are kind to guests. The swimming pool is very full of people, so it's difficult to swim like a speed swimmer. The price is very reasonable and dinner are very good. Generally this hotel is good for couples and family.

This is not a 4 star hotel, but the garden is very nice. This is a hotell with 90% of the guests are russian. Ialysos is not the place for a family holiday. A lot of alcohol consumption and loud music. Traffic is like hell, and the drivers are like predators. Just run... Food is average, but the waiters demand good tip to get average service... When we arrived in july no Taxis at the airport, and when we finally arrived the hotel at 09.00 after a nightfligh, tired and full of traveldust, we did not get our room. We had to wait in the reception for 3 hours ; ( So all over.. never Greece again.. ( I have been 5 times before on Rhodos). First time in 1980. Today the orginal greek mood is completly gone...

A throwback to the hotels in Vegas in the 80s, the Blue Horizon doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses, but the rooms could use an upgrade. Aesthetically bland but functionally solid. The pool areas look decent. But the beach itself is not very interesting. If you're looking for white-sanded beach, you'll need to head elsewhere. We got a really good deal including room/board via a major online travel site, which is why we came here.

Located southwest of Rhodes Town along the coast. The bus takes about 15 minutes or so. You'll need to ask the driver which stop to get off at 'cause it's another 10 minutes to walk to the hotel. It's also very close to the airport, which is convenient.

From appearances, it seems to be a resort heavily favored by working-class (blue-collar) Europeans, mainly from Germany or Eastern Europe. It’s not hard to see why, given what you get for the price you pay. It's a diverse mix of couples, families, and older folk. So if you’d prefer your fellow guests to be something other than the above, then you might want to book somewhere else, possibly closer to Rhodes Town. But if that's your kind of crowd, then this is the place for you. Not a lot of Americans/Brits/Aussies/Kiwis as far as I could tell, which might also be a plus for people.

Amazingly, they still charge for wireless internet by the half hour, which is unbelievable, especially for a place that bills itself as a resort.

The Blue Horizon is located in an area populated by tacky souvenir shops and eateries. You'll need to take a taxi or bus into town to get some decent food. The gyro stand that's connected to the restaurant across the street serves some crazy salty gyros! Lot of little convenience stores nearby where you can get water/sunblock/aloe/etc.

We had a sea-side room. The bed wasn’t too hard or soft, and the pillows are on the puffier side, which is what I like. The balcony had a view of the sea, which was nice. However, there were quite a few smokers around, so we had to leave the balcony door closed because we don’t do well with smoke. There was also a hint of cigarette smoke in the ventilation system, so we didn't turn on the A/C all that much.

The airplane noise was a non-issue for me. I have pretty sensitive hearing, but I didn’t really notice any planes.

On a side note--we unfortunately had to stay two extra nights 'cause Greek workers were striking at the airports. So--please bear in mind that many Greeks like to strike, especially when it causes a lot of disruption, so build in some flexibility into your schedule or you might end up with some major hassle on your hands.

Biggest shocker—dinner was actually decent. The salad bar was my favorite, with the options to create your own Greek tomato/cucumber/feta/olive oil salad or make up your own concoction. For hot food, there was macaroni with tomato sauce (didn’t try it), stuffed potatoes (okay), stir-fried mussels (ugh), some kind of white fish fillet (overcooked), curry dumplings (boring), chicken bourginon (nice and tender), pork souvlaki (pretty good and remarkably tender), roast potatoes (fine), wild rice (fine), boiled spinach (did not look appetizing), and boiled peas (fine).

Breakfast was pretty bland. In fact, I don't even remember what they served.

Note: I'm not the pickiest eater, but I do cook a lot and eat at nice places.

One thing that I did appreciate about the Blue Horizon was that the front desk staff was very friendly and went of its way whenever I had some requests.

We stayed only for one night as a stop off to another hotel. We found all of the staff to be really friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very clean but outdated. There were carpeted hallways and lifts, which had chewing gum on them, but this was the only dirty part we found. The outside of the buildings looked ready for a coat of paint too.Although the evening meal was buffet style there wasn't a great choice but the breakfast was really well worth getting up for.The hotel gardens were well maintained and were probably one of the nicest we've seen for a while. We would stay here again,no problem.

Room Tip: Sea view is standard,so no problems really.

Nice hotel, but is still hard to keep in mind that 4 stars in Greece are much less quality then in other parts of Europe (this is not as good as many 3 stars in Romania, for example). Noisy rooms on the street side; noisy doors (you cannot close them when going out of the room other then slamming).
As for food: quite boring on breakfast (more vegetables, yogurts etc could have helped). Slightly more diverse at dinner, but medium quality.
Very friendly staff.
