Jul 8, 2009 | Trip type: Couples

We stayed at the Ialyssos Bay for 11 nights in June 2009 and had a fantastic time! Our double room was immaculately clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Towels were changed everyday, we had a full sized bath and shower attachment with plenty of hot water at any time of day. The free air conditioning was great, it went as low as 10 degrees! The balcony with pool view was also lovely with wicker chairs adding a nice touch!
The pool area is very clean and spacious, with the snack bar serving things like sausage rolls and cheese pies to nibble on in the morning and afternoon (self-service) and delicious cakes each afternoon.
There is plenty to do in the hotel, with a tennis court (15 euros for an hour) and entertainment throughout the day if you want to be involved (darts, mini golf competitions, water polo and football). The entertainment team were really friendly, as were all the rest of the staff, and they organise shows some evenings by the pool. but you don’t feel like you have to get involved in the activities if you would prefer not to.
The main restaurant is decorated very nicely and has a small decked area outside overlooking the pool which was lovely in the evening. We preferred to sit in the air conditioned main restaurant during the day when it was hotter. There was a wide variety of main meals and different soups each lunch and dinner time as well as lots of salad and bread and a choice of deserts. Breakfast was also very comprehensive and everything was well cooked and really tasty. It was the first time we had tried all inclusive and after staying at the Ialyssos Bay we would definitely do it again.
The bar has a lovely outside area with comfy wicker chairs, perfect for relaxing in the evening with a cocktail! The drinks were great too, all local spirits but tasted just as nice and we got lots of them!
The hotel is ideally situated at one end of the stretch of shops and restaurants so it’s not noisy and you’re only a minute walk from all the amenities. The beach is very shingly but with such a nice hotel and free sun loungers and umbrellas by the pool we were more than happy, especially as you can keep getting drinks and snacks from the pool bar!
There is a bus stop about 5mins walk from the hotel where you can get a bus to Rhodes Town for 2euros, that takes around 15mins and is well worth a visit, especially the old town.
Overall the Ialyssos Bay is a gorgeous hotel in a great location and excellent value for money!

Jun 26, 2009 | Trip type: Couples

Having stayed at the Ialyssos Bay Hotel in late May / early June 2009, I can honestly say this is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.

Hotel:
- The lobby area of the hotel was large, absolutely spotless, with plenty of seating areas and a good sized bar.
- The mini-market was absolutely great, selling everything from sweets, chocolate, cold drinks, pool toys, clothes, swimwear, shoes, souvenirs, toiletries and more.
- The restaurant was very large, spotlessly clean and had a large selection of food for all tastes (soups, pastries, meats, pastas and salads), as well as a selection of desserts. The food did get a bit repetitive, but this is to be expected when staying for 2 weeks all inclusive.
- The pool and surrounding area was absolutely stunning and exceptionally clean with plenty of sunloungers for everyone (lots in the shade as well, for those of us who can only take so much Greek sun). The pool bar was great, although the snacks on offer were very limited (we were there quite early in the season however, so this may be a result of that).
- Staff at the hotel were very friendly and were always on hand with a smile to help with any requests.
- The bedroom was simply amazing. It was very large with 2 single beds forming a double, a small couch (which turned out to be a sofa bed), flat screen TV, safe, fridge, plenty of power-points and an absolutely spotless bathroom - the shower was very powerful. Best of all the room was carpeted throughout, so no horrible cold sandy tiles! The balcony was wonderful, with a small table and chairs but beware of mosquitoes in the evening.
- The maid service again was very good, they visited every day of our 2 week stay and provided fresh towels. Bed sheets were also changed on a regular basis, and the room was hoovered daily.

Location:
- Only a 2 minute walk away from a sandy/stone beach, which was very nice and quiet at the time of our stay.
- A few minutes walk away from the hotel is a little main street, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars for you to pass some time.
- The bus stop is approximately a 5 minute walk away, where the bus to Rhodes Town costs only 2 euros per person, and takes about 15-20 minutes.
- Ialyssos is not quite as busy as it's neighbour Ixia, so if you want a more relaxing holiday this would definitely be the location for you. Having said that, there was plenty to do during both day and night.

Tips:
- Patty's Bar at the end of the small path from the hotel to the beach is well worth a visit, lovely cocktails and excellent gyros!
- Use the local Rhodes buses, these are cheap, fast, reliable and most importantly have air con!

May 16, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

I stayed in the hotel at the beginning of the season, in fact we were about the first people to arrive. I went with 2 friends for a weeks relaxing holiday for their 40th birthdays. The hotel has been recently renovated and the reception / bar area is large with plenty of relaxing sitting area's something I find lacking in a lot of all inclusive hotels. Although we wouldn't have struggled for a seat due to the lack of guests, I'm sure even in the height of the season there would always be a comfortable seat to relax in. The staff & management were very friendly and helpful. If you want an English only hotel this isn't for you, if you like the more cosmopolitan relaxed feel this is the hotel for you. The rooms were clean and comfortable with towels etc chaged daily. If you are looking for a beach holiday Ialyssos probably wouldn't be for you, there is not a sandy beach at all in the local area. The area it self was nice with plenty of shops and local resturants, and although they wanted your business they were not over pushy, I felt comfortable walking around what ever time of the day. Rhodes old town is lovely and worth visiting in the evening, (about 12 EUR for a taxi, local bus 2 EUR) If you are going for the night life it is worth knowing that in the old town nothing really gets going until about midnight, then you will be welcomed into the bars by the locals, new town bars are more for the tourists but you can get every type of music. Drinks are expensive, so it is worth taking advantage of the all inclusive drinks before you go out, however these do give you a bit of a headache the following morning!
All in all I couldn't fault the hotel, and for the money we paid I could not have asked for anything more.

Well, I stayed with my husband for a week in mid August in this Hotel.
I knew that it was renovated although they don't have upload new photos on their website yet. I have read previous reports with last years comments (the bad ones) and I didn't expect much to tell you the truth.
Finally when we went there we saw the entrance-lobby which was really nice, modern and clean. Also the room smells new. It was spacious, the bath was excellent and all the furnitures inside new. The balcony big and we had sea view room.
The only problems that we faced were regarding the cleaning of the room. It was daily but if you went out after 11:00a.m. from the room no maid will come even if you notify the reception about.
They didn't change towels and sheets very often. One day we had to ask from the reception to give us a clean pair (they hadn't change them for 3 days) and to change them by ourselves since the maid is till 18:00.
I also noticed that inside the bath they had only one soap. No shampoo, no sewing sets no nothing. One day i asked for a sewing set and they told me they don't have...
Also when we tried to pay with our credit card (we have notified about method of payment 5 days before) they told us that they cannot accept due to machine problem (run out of paper!!!). This is unacceptable in our days and especially for a hotel rating 4*.
I have to admit that they are trying, all the staff was friendly The food was good, good quality but repetative sometimes...
I think that they should try little more harder since they are a 4*hotel...
