“Great hotel with fantastic staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Although we have been coming to the Greek islands since the early 80's and have visited many of them this was our first visit to Rhodes! We stayed at the Ialyssos Bay hotel after getting a great last minute deal with First Choice. We were a little unsure as were not into the whole 'all inclusive' thing as we both really love the greek food served in the local tavernas.

Firstly the staff were all really friendly and helpful, especially Miss Sophia, Manolis and Julia.

The rooms were lovely and always kept nice and clean. The local beer and wine was nice. The only thing we would say is the local spirits were not that great.

The food in the restaurant was always fresh and very nice but a bit too 'British' for our personal taste when on holiday in Greece. But saying that We totally understand that they have to cater for the masses rather than the 'odd' strange Brits who love Greek food!

So, what a great surprise it was to find the head chef was more than happy to cook some local 'Greek' dishes specially for us in the evenings. In fact he was delighted to see someone enjoying his Greek food rather than the stuff they have to serve up for the pizza n chip brigade!

Great hotel with great staff that can never do enough to make your stay as great as possible.

We will be back!

Thank you again, Miss Sophia, Manolis and Julia!

Have just returned from our stay at ialyssos bay. We booked the holiday literally three days before we left. We had a late flight- but transfer/ hotel check in was nice and easy (I'm a bit of a worrier so the fact it all went so smoothly put me at ease from the outset). Reception was warm and welcoming, one particular lady (didn't catch her name but had dark hair in a ponytail who worked really long hours I might add was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us). We were on the second floor with a pool view, was a massive room very modern and spotless. Nice little balcony to have a drink on. Fridge, safe and air con in the room. For what we paid we couldn't have been happier.

Pool- the pool is a nice size, you do have to get up early to do towels but name a family hotel where you don't? George the lifeguard kept everyone inline and was funny when joining in with the ents.

Bar- drinks were plentiful, there wasn't anything I asked for which they didn't have. Arthur on the bar in the evenings was lovely.

Beach- stunning. You have to pay for loungers but we put towels on the grass verge and that was just as good

Food/ restaurant- food was nice, reasonable selection.. Always something we liked. Puddings were the only thing that let it down really. They all seemed to consist of cream in one way or another. Restaurant staff were all very quick with the turn around of tables, did sometimes feel like you were made to rush to find a table and sit down (one particular lady, who I assume was the restaurant manger was quite abrupt and not very welcoming.. Not very approachable and maybe a tad rude).

Entertainment team- amazing. Made our holiday memories, worked so hard. Clearly shown in all of the reviews they receive. Dan was such a laugh getting everyone involved and making you all feel apart of it. The other girls and guys obviously really enjoy what they do and it shows. Definitely the people who make the hotel shine.

All in all, was a very lovely place, our first visit to Greece and would certainly recommend. Thank you for looking after us and making our first time memorable!

My wife, 7 year old son and I booked this hotel through first choice as a cheap 7 nights away, not really knowing what to expect when we got there. However we were very impressed! The hotel is very clean and tidy, large reception area with high ceilings (very nice), large dining area for all meals throughout the day, food was great offering 3 different sections - light bites, mains and salads with lots of choice which changed every day, as well as help yourself to your own drinks. Julia in the restaurant was very helpful and great with kids, as well as the head chef who offered to cook us something else if we didn't like anything that was on that night for our son. Pool area is cleaned every morning and as the entertainment is done around the pool/ snack bar area they done a fantastic job of making sure it was spotless everyday. George the life guard was brilliant, his broken english was very funny. The entainment team (suneo club) do a fantastic job all day, aqua fun in the pool in the morning followed by different games throughout the day along with adults water polo at mid day, great fun to play, or if you prefer to watch. Although the pool is relatively small everybody was very friendly and never felt awkward in or around the pool, as a result of this you find your self talking with lots of different people which was great! Beach is a 30sec walk from the hotel although sand and pebbles isn't are cup of tea so didn't use it. We had a sea view room, very nice, comfortable, beds were very firm, air con was great and 2 english channels on tv. Also a fridge and a safe in the room, safe is €20 with another €20 deposit you get back on check out. Also the rooms were cleaned everyday and clean towels. The suneo team really did make our holiday what it was though, they we're so funny!!! Dan, Yalla, Caroline and the rest of the team work soooo hard all day to keep smiles on peoples faces, kids busy and by night they become your brilliant entertainment team with kids disco and varied entertainment after, for us Dans singing night was our favorite, he was great!
In all a great holiday! Friendly staff- all have smiles on there faces and the weather is fantastic! Thanks ialyssos bay and suneo club for given us a great holiday for a bargain price!

Good luck Dan for your next adventure at the end of this session!

Also for anybody who likes to do the excursions, we did not do it but first choice do a trip to mamaris by boat where you visit a couple of places then the main market for the day for around €60 an adult and €35 a child.

Enjoy guys! :)

Just returned from Ialyssos Bay. We had a brilliant 11 nights, all the staff are so friendly. Julia, Sophia and all their staff in the restaurant are lovely and very efficient. The kitchen staff deserve a mention as cooking up great food day after day for so many must be so difficult. The hotel is spotless and the staff take great pride in their work. Each morning the pool area is swept and mopped, shame some people couldn't wait before setting up for the day and feeling the need to put out their own beds and get in the crews way. We could see from our room when they had nearly finished so could time our sunbed run perfectly. The pool area did get a bit cramped but George the life guard did an amazing job of keeping everything and everyone in order but took the banter dished out by the entertainment team with a smile. Our room on the second floor was very spacious and modern, the air con was perfect and the maid came in every day with fresh towels.
Saving the best till last! The Suneoclub entertainment team were fantastic. Dan, Caroline, Jelle, K-risten, Carolina and Adrian were all so friendly and got people involved but were not pushy. The tunes around the pool were great with a good mixture of genres. Water polo kept the boys happy plus 1 girl! Think some of Dan's humour may have been lost on some of the non English guests "living the dream" "Shabba" but great fun
Thank you to all at Ialyssos Bay for a truly wonderful family holiday. I am sure we will return one day once we have visited all the greek islands.

Room Tip: Floor 2 over looking the pool 231- onwards. Pay the £25 fee for a late check out room till 6pm it...

Booked holiday only a week before due to hospital treatments etc all very last minute ok to fly. Knew a little about the area. We stayed in a bungalow and was very clean and spacious. You can make each day what you want each day there are activities on 11am - 3/4 pm. Sometimes your happy to lie back and sunbathe. Enjoyed the music played by the pool most of the day. Entertainment starts again 8pm kids disco then adult/ family quiz, games, Greek night, karaoke etc.
The reps are a fantastic mix of nationalities and a very unique team! We have travelled a lot and never known such a Welcoming hotel. Guests were a mixed group of folk from all over the world. Food was lovely. A good variety. Think you find by the end of the week your eating for the sake of it but that happens every where when all inclusive.
The men usually all get chatting playing water polo... Even with the language barriers there is always a nod and a thumbs up. We met a few lovely groups of English families. Some will stay in touch and meet up again.
The reps Dan Caroline Jelle Karolina Adrian and Christin each so very friendly. Dan is the team leader and is hilarious! My boys are aged 13 and 11 have to say seeing Dan genuinely fill up watching eight year old Jack on the karaoke was evidence this guy is fantastic at his job and puts his heart into everything. He has genuine funny bones. Children of all ages are drawn to him. Caroline is the smiliest person in the world, you can tell she loves her job and is clearly very good at it. Jelle is german spoke great English, always smiling and was fantastic at table tennis so gave my boys a good game!!! Christin was so sweet again spoke great English and children warm to her. Although Adrian and Karolina were polish we could see the children all warmed to them.
The life guard never takes his eyes off the pool, which is reassuring as a parent. All hotel stall are all friendly.
We went on the two and a half cities tour. It was so so hot that day and we really enjoyed just wish we could of jumped in the sea. Highly recommend the Waterpark. Jumped a taxi and prices in cafés inside were really reasonable.
I would go back only if the same entertainment team!!!!!!!
Only disappointment was the shingle beach.... More rocky..... Missed water sports. If there longer than a week would of ventured more Falaraki and stunning Lindos beaches.
There are a lot of planes flying over and the first few days your looking up a lot then you get used to it.
Also my children said the ice cream in the snack bar was only available 430-530. You could get some inside with lunch. I'm happy for them to eat it all day especially hot days. Only real queue were for freshly made pancakes and woffles at breakfast. In there words everything was 'amazing'

Room Tip: We had a bungalow and very happy with our room and location.
