“We enjoyed it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2010

We were a bit worried as some of the reviews were not best. But we are more inclined to find the positives rather than the negatives and life is what you make it. On arrival we were efficiantly sorted and after a quick drink ( we arrived 22.30) we went off to settle in . No food was on offer through our All Inclusive deal, but you can order a pizza at the bar for around 4 euro.
The sun shone everyday, peaking around 42 degrees so the pools were a blessing.
The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner did not include a vast choice, but everyday we found something to our liking. Breakfast : eggs, greek sausages or bacon, greek coco pops, greek yogurt and fruit. Lunch; pasta ,salads meats and potatoes with deserts to follow. Dinner ;similar to lunch. The lamb pork and beef were tender, the chicken on the bone ( bit too much bone). Salads, chips , roasts or mashed potato. deserts were watermelon (never seen so much !) mousses (very sweet) or greek cakes.
Drinks. This is where they have a problem that needn`t be. In the restaurant they open up juice water teas and coffee at breakfast. At lunch and dinner beer/wine and carbonated drinks only. You could get a drink in the restaurant 7-9, the poolside bar 10-5 and the main bar 5-11 (till 2am if willing to pay, dont know if anyone stayed up that late though , we didnt , very expensive). This would have been better if all bars stayed open all day so you didnt have to keep walking up and down. The pool bar is closed ! They need to take that off the details.
The rooms: we had an appartment, much the same as the rest of the hotel, a bit tired, but suited our needs. The maid came in daily and cleaned and replaced towels in bathroom. (towels not to be used by pool, but we saw people doing just that). You took your chances with the temperature of the water. Peak times meant cool showers. Bedding got changed regular.
Air con and a safety deposit box (by reception) were an added cost, but we knew this.
The staff were 95% agreeable, just one waitress i didnt take to.
Sun beds ! not enough ! get up early and put your towel out to beat the germans and pols ( why is it always them !) if you have a room by the pool , a trick is to stash a couple in you room overnight! shh, i didnt tell you this.
Entertainment. Usual pool aerobics, water polo, yoga daytime. evenings ; they have a stage (outside in a cage, bring you chair out) with a few competitions and a couple of acts, not to our liking. so we played cards, went up to the shops etc of an eve. there are restaurants nearby if you want a change of scenery.
The area is on the outskirts of Rhodes, but lots of shops. A trip to old Rhodes and Lindos by Boat (22 euro per adult) are great. Bus stop outside hotel, bus every 15 mins.
Taxi prices a bit more than bus fares
Dont get a taxi transfer if you have more than 2 suitcases. OMG thought ours were going to end up falling out the boot ! strapped in by a bungee.
Take sunscreen in plenty as very expensive in local shops, we found a small carrefour which was a bit more reasonanable.
Hotel shop ok, more for the kids with inflatables, sweets and flops etc. few gifts. no good if you are self catering. no jeweley shop that we saw on details.
All in all We would say if you admit to being very fussy, not for you. But if you dont mind a few things being a bit dissapointing you should , like us, have a good holiday. you get what you pay for in this life. if you want luxury you have to pay luxury prices ! ( see elysium hotel, that looked lush !). with the kids though, this was a great holiday.

We booked a late deal and thought this hotel looked ok. I read the reviews on here before we booked and thought other people might have higher standards than we did. I was very wrong. The rooms are very very basic and the beds are so uncomfortable very hard along with very hard pillows. We woke every morning with bad necks and aches and pains. The food is terrible i am very open to trying other cultures food however it wasn't a case of the menu choice but the quality of the food. Everything was very taste less very repetitve and very poor standard. We went with the opinion we would eat out every night anyway but thought that at least we had breakfast and lunch organised. We hardly ate at the hotel at all. Drinks were very poor also very cheap horrible tasting soft drinks. Beer which was full of gas and wine which tasted like vinigar.
All inclusive thats a laugh. You had to pay for air conditioning 6 euros a day! There are no snacks around the pool despite having a snack bar. As stated in previous reviews you can have stale biscuits. If you want snacks i.e icecreams, chips, toasties you have to pay extra. Drinks on an evening are limited with the all inclusive if you want barcardi, malibu, named beers etc you have to pay for them!
The pool area was clean and ok.
Rhodes its self is a lovely place however in hind sight i would have taken notice to these reviews and NOT have stayed here.

Our holiday requirement was to be able to take our teenage sons on an affordable family holiday. The hotel Filerimos enabled us to meet our objective. The hotel is clean and basic but offers a relaxing no fuss environment to unwind with guaranteed sunshine everyday. We spoke to the boys before we went so they could prepare for a more relaxing holiday than they would have chosen. The annimation team offered them a supervised oppportunity to visit at disco in the nearby town of Trianda. Trianda and Kremesti are fifteen to twenty minute walks away but offer an opportunity to sample the local culture, however, the exchange rate and similar pricing to the UK make this an expensive option. Drinks were served in plastic cups as others had commented but this has been our experience in lots of inclusive breaks around the world. The food was basic but there was always something to eat, although the self service area would have benefited form a re-design as this area became a bottle neck. Positively you could always find a table and the restaurant was relaxing rather than hustle and bustle. The staff were minimal but were friendly and worked extremely hard. The diverse cultures who use the hotel for their holiday enriched our stay. Everyone we met were friendly and much was learnt by all about different countries. For the amount we paid we were more than satisfied with all aspects of the holiday. We had good flight times and the transfers to and from the airport were well organised. A little more evening entertainment may have improved the stay but as previously mentioned this gave an opportunity to make friends with people from other countries who we will visit on future holidays.

the food was awful, cold, everything tastes of nothing, the rooms are basic and four of us were sleeping in same room, the beds were concrete with matresses sitting on top,we had no hot water, complained second day and everyday since, was told no one else was complaining and if it was a problem in are room it would be a problem in all rooms,it was only when my hubby caused a scene at reception did they finally change us to another room, there was no entertainment, simply because the owner was too miserable to buy seating, the animation team tried to entertain ie water polo, darts and kids disco, but didnt have the equipment to do much else, there is no snacks only dry biscults,no lollies or icecream you have to buy these items and they are expensive,we had a disabled person in are group, they knew about this b 4 we booked, they have ramps 4 the wheelchairs and that is it,no disabled toliets no rooms adapted 4 wheelchair users we had 2 bring a plastic patio chair in2 bathroom and shower this person on it.the local resturants were lovely the food was beautiful and the people were very friendly,we payed 4 all inclusive yet i spent all are money we had on food and snacks, are kids were starving and my kids are not fussy eaters, the shop at front of building is handy but very expensive and not well stocked,it pays 2 walk 10 minutes 2 bigger supermarket were everything is a fraction of the price ie water, beer, crisps, cigs.you will not get a sunbed around the pool because people have their towels out from midnight, but did find it funny when the pool staff got rid of the towels by throwing them in2 the pool, beware of harris,he is the poolbar staff,he is ignorant and wouldnt think twice about telling u 2 f__k off if u didnt follow his rules,he shouted at kids 4 walking in2 the bar wet,its a poolbar its going 2 get wet, beware of reception staff, anastacia was nice, but the rest couldnt give u the time of day,it was hard not 2 lose ur temper, but the nicer u are with them the more it annoys them, the air conditioning is a must but u have 2 pay 4 it but is worth it,all in all my kids enjoyed it because they meet alot of new friends and were happy playing around the pool all day,we meet alot of nice people 2 and we all had alot in common as we all had the same complaints and same impressions of the filerimos hotel.

As every reviewer has already said this hotel is very basic. It is like a flashback from the 1960's. This aside the cleaning staff are very good and keep the rooms spotless. The towels and sheets are changed regularly. The pool guys are quite funny as they like to throw peoples towels in the pool or in the bushes if they see anyones towels out early in the morning on sunbeds. Be warned you need to guard your sunbed all the times. We upgraded to a bungalow which was great as you are next to the pool and my husband got up at 7.30 to watch the germans and dutch trying to secure a sunbed. He found this very amusing. I would recommend getting the airconditioning as it was very hot. This is 6 euros a night which is a bit expensive but is worth it.
All the staff were helpful except the general manager who assured us that she ordered all the food for the restaurant but could not tell us what type of fish was being served and had to speak to the chef. She tried to make excuses for the poor quality and choice of food and would speak to the chef but these issues were not resolved. Although the food was of poor quality and choice you wouldn't starve but after 2 weeks we were fed up with salad, chips and pasta. We ended up only eating lunch and ate out most nights to enjoy the good food and greek hospitality.
The snackbar is only open from 10am till 5pm. There are soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits. The beer did however run out on two occassions. The snacks on offer consist of cake, biscuits, spinich pie and what was described as omellette but was more like a brick of egg which had leftover chips on top (not very appealing). It looks like at one time this was also open from 7pm till 1am and there was also a bar in the centre of the pool area which served food and drink but this has obviously not been used in a long time.
The entertainment was non existent although the animation team were around all day with activities like volleyball, darts etc. The kids mini disco was terrible.
You are a bit isolated at this hotel as it is a 20 minute walk to Ialisos or Kremasti which both have excellent tavernas and restaurants. The buses are every 15 minutes but you are cheaper getting a taxi. It costs 5 euros from either town to the hotel. Some taxi drivers will try and get more by trying to take you further into the centre of Ialisos or Kremasti but if you stick to the taxi ranks these are standard prices.
I would advise anyone going to this hotel to venture out as 2 weeks feels a bit like groundhog day......

I have just returned from my second holiday at the Filerimos this year and it was my fourth in the last three years. This is a good 3* hotel,it has great grounds and swimming pools, the rooms are basic but clean and are cleaned every day, towels are replaced too. The food was poor three years but it has got better and better, all the local beer and spirits I tried were ok,the barman Giannis is pleasant and helpful like most of the staff. A lot more British people are going there now and all I spoke to said they were satisfied and would return. This hotel represents great value for money and I hope to return again this September as do others who were there earlier in the year.

We have just got back from visiting the hotel and like many on here had read all the bad reviews and was slightly worried, however i can honestly not think of a bad thing to say about the hotel. The room we had was just a twin for 2 adults, but it was clean, the sheets and towels are changed every day, had a fridge, decent bathroom, nice balcony etc. For a little more money you could have a bungalow by the pool which was probably a better option, because then u can lie on the grass or get a sunlounger right outside your door. The pool area is lovely, its clean and quite big - yes the Germans do tend to hog all the sunbeds, but we found if we put our towels out on the way to breakfast at about 8.30 there were still some sunloungers around.

The food is relatively basic, but there was always something to eat and you never went hungry. Basically there was a fish dish, a couple of meat dishes, a vegetarian dish, pasta, chips, then a whole load of different salads. Breakfast was beans, eggs, bacon, toast, bread things, cereal - again always something. The bar got quite busy on an evening but the bar man, Giannis, is really good and friendly, the queue could be quite long but you were still served within 5 mins. You could have beer, which was nice, white or red wine, gin, whisky, vodka, ouzo, plus all soft drinks and water for free.

The beach was about a 10min walk away, and there wasnt much to see there because it is pebbles, but there was a little restaurant and sun loungers, 3 euro for all day. We went to Rhodes town one day, and the bus was 2.10 euros each, its about 15 mins on the bus but is so easy because the bus stop is right outside and runs every 15 mins.

Also, a taxi from the airport is about 10 Euros, we got a coach transfer included in our price but ended up waiting for loads of flights to come in before we could set off, and then we had to go the opposite direction from our hotel to drop people off, so we were sat on it for about 2 hours, whereas a taxi would be 10mins max.

I hope this helps, we paid about £260 each, that included flights, hotel all inclusive, transfers etc, so we think we got a great deal, but I would willingly have paid another £100- £150 quid on top of that for the service we received. If you try really hard you can always pick faults with something, but some of the complaints on here are ridiculous, and I would honestly recommend the hotel to anyone.

I dont have a clue what they are on about below about the knives and forks and glasses, they never run out.
