We arrived very excited late on Wed 14th May for a two week all inclusive family holiday but walked into a total nightmare!!!
In short, there were stray dogs lying on the sofas in reception; all drinks including wine and beer were served in smelly chipped plastic beakers (the kind u think twice about giving your kids at home); the "late night snacks" served to hungry, desperate late arrivals consisted of Luke warm soup, bread, cheese and ham; the room was basic at best, bathroom was poorly maintained and balconies seemed unsafe for small children; breakfast was like eating in a refugee camp with people rushing around, mowing down our two year old with a trolley!!! Lunch was slightly more civilised but got the feeling that the good would never get much better than that of one of Britain's prisons! Water park looked derelict and I took a picture of a kids slide blocked from use by red and white tape; planes passing overhead every 20 mins soon gets irritated even in the company of a two year old transport enthusiast; we did not witness one person smiling or remotely seeming to enjoy their holiday in fact the the most animated people i saw was a Russian couple enquiring at reception as to the best airline option for transporting one of the stray dogs home with them...
Fortunately, there was a helpful staff member at reception who assisted me to call my travel operator ( she seemed very used to dealing with major complaints and accepted my request to move hotels without even asking why) who in turn after several phone calls offered us an alternative hotel - Hotel Oceanis in Ixia. Making the change led to experiencing the best and most memorable holiday of our lives (feel free to read my upcoming review on Oceanis) but make no mistake - Blue Bay provided the most awful 20 hours of my life!!!

returned 28th may 2014,after 2 weeks in the blue bay deluxe.
we had a family bungalow which was the best thing of our stay.
the room was kept very clean ,the linen and towels changed daily with the
exeption of sunday.
all the staff are very friendly and helpful, dispite what we where told by various people,
including members of staff, some of them had not been paid and where leaving for other jobs.
the restaurant is a total disgrace.
it is set out wrong ,for as you desend the 8 steps down into it,there is the the salad station to the left and then directly to the right is the beginning of the hot food section,so you are confronted
by people getting their food and people trying to exit ,causing utter chaous.as well as a safety hazard.
there is not enough cups for hot drinks and certainly no saucers ,as you have to constantly wait
for them to be washed
you have to wait for tables to be cleared and reset as we where also told there was a shortage of tableware for the tables.
the restaurant, as with all the other facilities in the hotel is used also by the sister hotel the sunland which is next door ,so the amount of people using the restaurant far outways the size of it.
it resembles and sounds like a works canteen with the number of people trying to be seated and aquire food.
the food at all meal times is not as you would expect at a 4 star, but more around a 2 star standard.
you would expect the food to be hot, judging by the number of people using the restaurant, but it was allways cold .
we have been all inclusive a number of times to Greece, and found that the choice of bars for drinks allways included an indoor bar which after 23.00pm turned to a pay bar.
this is not so at the blue bay.
the indoor bar is solely a pay bar,so to get your drinks you have to go to the pool bar, back and forth around the pool ,which at the beginning of the evening has been all hosed down this causing a very severe tripping hazard ,and we observed on a numerios occasions people slipping over.
it gets cold on a night in Greece so you should be able to sit and drink in comfort away from any adverse weather ,even if you are all inclusive.
the drinks are also given in rough edged plastic yellow cups, sometimes not thoroughly cleaned ,unless you pay at the indoor bar, then you get a glass.
there are a number of stray dogs roaming the grounds and pool areas, and we observed inside the hotel, dogs sitting and sleeping on the couches inside.
there was no sign of staff trying to deter them from being on the premises.
the hotel foyer ,and most parts of the hotel is only to a 2 star standard in the décor.
the best place we found in the hotel was the beach bar area, allthough this also was short of tables and chairs at times.
billy and his mate in the animation team went to great lengths to keep the people entertained ,we observed on a daytime, although we did not stay and watch anything on an evening,as we chose to go out for some relief from the surroundings.
if you go to the blue bay and you have booked expecting a 4star Greece hotel ,you will be very disappointed.
we have been to several 4 star hotels in Greece and found them to be of that good standard.
the blue bay needs a severe change in the way it operates ,and also a drastic change in its décor ,food and bar services to come up to a 4 star standard.
we where disappointed in this hotel, and it does not give a good impression of the greek peoples standards, who are very hardworking ,clean, pleasant and helpful people.

Room Tip: family bungalow are spacious

Private pool left in disgusting state and not cleaned despite asking frequently. Every member of staff was extremely rude and uncooperative. Food hall was dirty. Food was warm at best. Entertainment not unlike butlins. Disgraceful for a 4*. Would NOT recommend. Have put us off of Greece.

Arrived 19th April, we have 3 children ages 15' 10' 7 so it can be hard to find a holiday that caters for all of them but this holiday did. After reading reviews on here was quite worried about going. Got to the hotel, was no problem on check in, hotel was clean and rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, staff were friendly, food was nice and there was a variety of foods and something for everyone although desserts did get a bit repetitive. Dogs round the pool on occasions but these were friendly and did not cause any bother " scooby doo" . Animation team were brilliant Billy and Alex "hula hula" they made fun names up for guests "yaba daba doo" "lady di" and "billy brother" were the ones used for our group, so funny. Billy and Alex worked extremely hard all day and night and shows were fun, inclusive and entertaining for all ages. Good group of guests there the week we was, some include Peter Pan, Trisha, Tracey, Tarzan and Jane, Aaron, Kirsten, Monica lewinsky, Alfie, and the west brom supporter glen and his wife. Hope to see you all again at the Blue Bay. Thanks again xxx Lou,Dave, Matt, Liz and Sam. Di and Billy xxxx

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are beautiful

Just back from a week at Blue Bay with my 17yr old son. Great weather and a nice short transfer from the airport. We had an absolutely fantastic week. The hotel facilities and staff were lovely. Very clean and nice rooms. Housekeeping staff couldn't do enough to make us comfy. The food could have been warmer at times but we managed to find a good variety of things we both liked (this is the part I would say is more 3*). The water-park directly at the back of the hotel does't open until May but will be a real bonus for people visiting then.

Nice little bars dotted around the nearby streets and bus stop to venture out is a few minutes walk away. My son particularly enjoyed the quad bike we hired for a few days to look about on. Cheap and safe, he was in his element.

The animation team were brilliant and gave us a good mixture activities that you could choose to take part in which included, water polo, bowls on the beach, darts. All the families and groups we came across seemed to enjoy themselves. Billy the entertainment lead was fantastic with all the guests of all ages from kids to adults, he was hilarious at times (Hula Hula!!) Alex was great to and got us all in the pool for water polo (and we pushed him in to). The hotel wasn't at full swing or capacity so I can imagine it gets a little more hectic at peak but we will definitely be returning.

We had a particularly good crowd of people and all had a smashing week!!!

We were extremely happy that we got great value for money and a fab holiday. I think some of the negative comments on here are particularly harsh and disproportionate to the reality. i hope my comments are helpful.

thank you Blue Bay :-)

Room Tip: Sea view is great but extra.

I stayed here with my big sister and my dad, 1 week for sailing. The rooms are nice and the size is perfect for three. We took all inclusive, so we got breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. The food is good and enough for everyone. On the day time they are turning off the water in the rooms, a bit weird thing. Price value is perfect and the location is perfect if you want to have a beach holidays.

Room Tip: + Good and different food for everyone + Perfect for beach vacation + Good price value - Food was...
