“Tranquil hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

The Apollo is a gem thanks to the owners' care and attention to detail. It is not lavish by any means but is homely and tastefully renovated. We stayed for just two nights around greek Palm Sunday this year (at the end of April 2013). We loved the bustle of the festivities and by contrast the tranquility of stepping through the door into that beautiful courtyard garden. Our room was perfect for our stay and the view over the rooftops to the minaret, the Grand Masters Palace and the sea was great. We slept comfortably and peacefully on the bed, which was on the floor on a platform above. Ikuo's local knowledge on places to eat was valued as our stay was quite short. When we returned on the last day of our holiday he also helped us by guiding us through the labyrinth of narrow streets to the bus terminus to get to the airport.

Very well situated, Apollo Guesthouse is close to all we needed, restaurants, museums, old port... Everything is easy walking distance. The rooms are clean and and well decorated. The view of the surronding wall is beatiful. We had delicious breakfasts in the charming flowered courtyard. The host are very nice and welcoming. We had a very nice journey in Rhodes.

Seems like I have some free time on my hands as I brought my laptop on this trip for the first time and now I am posting review after review of the wonderful hotels that I have had the special priveliedge to experience. And now I am writing again of another amazing guest experience in a fabulous Greecian hotel. Apollo himself would be glad to spend a few nights here with my room perched above the fray in the most ancient part of Rhodes old city. I slept with my window opened wide each night (and let's be honest during the day too...) with the most amazing view over the ancient city and out to the ocean itself. Even the distant view of enormous and impossibly huge cruise ships parked in the bay added to the magical experience.

This guest house is a smart option because of its budget price, excellent management, and fabulous location - away from the t shirt shops in the quiet and authentically real residential quarter of the old city. Yet a quick stroll down the hill and you're in the thick of it. I was amazed by the total silence at night. And last, but not least, even thought the room is small (they're all small in Rhodes) it had a normal size bathroom - thank you.

This small and intimate guesthouse is centrally located, which makes it very convenient for exploring the old town of Rhodes with no need for extra transport. One can walk to the main ports if luggage is not too heavy. Still, it is away from the bustle, so ideal if you want to take a break from sightseeing. It has got a little garden, which was fresher than the rest of town. The two tenants are very nice and helpful. Our room was not very large but definitely enough for two people. The place is cosy and very clean. We would go back here if back to Rhodes.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Apollo Guesthouse for 3 nights in August 2013. We stayed in the Artemis room which overlooked the beautiful courtyard and old town. The rooms were very clean and homely with a private bathroom. The guesthouse was quaint and traditional.

Personally, we found this to be a great location in the Old town as it was near some excellent cafes/bars and restaurants such as Mandala.

The owners were very friendly and happy to recommend restaurants and sights of interest. I echo the thoughts of other travellers and Ikuo provided a lovely breakfast every morning including tea/coffee, cornflakes, muesli, fresh fruit and greek yoghurt in the very scenic courtyard.

Much recommended as it is much more personal and beautiful than a regular hotel!

We were travelling as 3 couples. We each had our own room with a private bathroom. Each couple commented that this guesthouse exceeded our expectations.
Ikuo was very friendly and helpful with recommending restaurants and sites to see. Our privacy was respected but if we had any questions he was more than happy to help us.
Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and was served in the beautiful courtyard.
The location was ideal in Old Town and it was a short walk to many restaurants and shops.
We all would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Each of our 3 rooms was unique. We enjoyed the Apollo, Artemis and Zeus rooms.
