“Beautiful Petit Palais”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2010

What can I say, fantastic hotel, staff wonderful, stayed at the hotel for one week, location perfect everything on the doorstep, shops, bars, retaurants. Hotel is immaculately clean, food is fresh with lots of choices and plenty of it. Communal areas are all gleeming marble with plush furnishings. Staff go out their way to make you feel welcome and cared for. Rhodes old town is magnificent and wonderful beaches, all round top holiday destination, we will definately return.

I read some mediocre reports before I went but to be honest I couldn't find anything wrong with the place. When I first got to the entrance I was surprised how nice it actually was. The reception staff were fine, we were given a room on the 6th floor right on the far left hand side when looking at the hotel from the front. This was actually a god send as the hotel is only one room wide at this point and the corridor at the back had through ventilation straight out. the weather was amazingly hot and if we had been nearer the middle or at the other end there would have been rooms at the back and therefore no draught whatsoever. So you need to ask for rooms 9-14 on whatever floor you would like, 612 was ours so floor 6 room 12.
We spoke to some visitors from the ground floor they were not as impressed with their rooms, problems with roaches from the pool area, so be warned, but we were well out of their way.
Staying full board was a bonus, once the wristband was on everything was free till midnight, there was no point going far afield as the entertainment was ok too. We hired a car from the internal vendor, it was reasonably priced and the hotel provided us with "take out " lunches for the days we were out and about. Even these were of a good standard.
There was fridge in the room, air con and a tv. There was pay internet in the foyer, wireless doesnt seem to have reached Greece yet, that was the only downside.
So overall, i was well impressed, the hotel was clean and tidy, well positioned (about 10 mins from the old town), friendly staff and a good view. I would have no hesitation going back.
Finally, the head waiter looked a little bit like Richard Hammond, his name was Manoles, what a top guy, he worked solid from 7am till midnight every night and was always pleasant despite us trying to wind him up. He never let his job get to him and we had quite a bit of fun with him. The hotel has quite a few repeat customers, while we were there the barman recognised quite a few as they arrived and went straight over to say hello. I think this hotel has got it right, it's just the right size and with friendly staff, no wonder it was full the last time I tried to book it again in September.

It's a very good hotel, everything is good. But the bartender in the nights, tony, he's the best! It's awesome.

First, I must compliment the staff at this hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and all were lovely with my 2 year old daughter, Gemma (Including teaching her how to say 'kalimera'!) I cannot compliment them enough for making us feel welcome and changing our room as soon as we asked. Very kindly gave us a bed for Gem on our checkout night, which really helped the journey with our extremely late 2am checkout!
Food wise, this is not a hotel that serves chips every day so is not suited to the people who want English type food all the time, although the food was very nice and not exotic for most meals and Gem loved the puddings! The pizza's are delicious :-)
The location is good for the old town and the shingle beaches but on a busy road so not good for small children. There are no facilities in the hotel for children at all and the 'children's playground' described in some tour operators descriptions is one slide across the road. The pool area is very small and Gemma slipped on the tiles at least 6 times on the first day, even though she was wearing pool shoes. The 'kids' pool is an adult jacuzzi type pool and quite deep in the middle.
The hotel itself was nice but a little tired and the entertainment was exactly that - 'Elvis' made us laugh (at him rather than with him, unfortunately) and the greek dancing was authentic but apart from those 2 nights, you had to go out or talk to other guests.
Overall, we had a nice time but this hotel is far better suited to the older people who largely populate the place at this time of the year. Ultimately, it was the staff who made it for us...

We arrived on Sept. 1st. All the people on our coach were shipped off to the Grand, some for 1 night, some for 2 nights. Other EU countries on package deals were not treated like this. This is not satisfactory! We didn't like the Grand - far too big & noisy & the bedrooms were really in poor condition. Once we settled in to the Petit Palais we enjoyed it & the staff were lovely.

What can we say about the Petit Palais hotel except that it is BRILLIANT, rooms are very nice although some of the balconies at the rear of the hotel are wooden and look a bit small, ours was at the front of the hotel, with a semi sea view, and on the corner so we could see Rhodes castle as well as the Turkish coastline.
The staff are all really nice and friendly, Tony, George and Edi in the bar are all stars.
We stayed for 10 nights which was just about right, to see the most of the island which is beautiful, we got on the plane at JLI and it was 18 deg it was 36 when we landed in Rhodes, most of the ten days it was around 38-40 deg, which is hot, but you get a good breeze on this side of the island which helps.
Going to Rhodes?, stay at the Petit Palais, you wont regret it.
