“Great view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2010

Staying at the Aquarium View Hotel was a very nice experience. The view is actually very fine, because the location very close to the northern tip of Rhodes is just great. Just a few steps and you are on the Elli beach. The rooms are nice and comfortable with free air condition, the breakfast is very good, and you are not really bothered by traffic noise, and you are also away from the night life, that some (young) people apparently prefer to a good holiday with all sorts of pleasures in the day time!

Spent one week with two teenagers (17 yrs). The location could not have been better. Close to shopping, close to night clubs, easy to get a taxi, or car rental. Grocery store and pharmacie near by, One side of town is windy, the other, not as much. We were on the side that was not so windy. The beach is a meer 50 feet from the hotel. Lots and lots of beach chairs/umbrellas to rent (4 E per day and free if you go on one of the boat rides before lunch. By boat rides I mean parasailing, ringos etc. These are located right in front of the hotel on the beach,) The hotel was clean and, as said before, the staff were wonderful. The rooms, however, left alot to be desired. One-person only bathrooms. And barely one person. Our bathroom door would not open all the way because of the toilet. The showerhead was practically useless. You could feel the springs in the bed. Both my husband and son nearly knocked themselves out while bending over sitting on the toilet and hitting their heads on the sink! The hotel is quite run down but I stress, it is clean. This is a fabulous hotel if you are on a budget. Although, there are other hotels in the area (even the Aqurium sister hotel next door) that are much nicer and not too much more money. If money really is an important factor, stay at Aquarium. Just don't have high expectations for decor and amenities. Think of it as a place to sleep only. Have fun!

I stayed at the Aquarium (ex-Siravast) for a week around Aug '08.
The hotel is pretty old and needs a bit of a renewal -but- it's clean, the rooms are pretty spacious, the breakfast is ok and the view was EXCELLENT. (ask for a room on the east side, it's less windy and has a better view)

It's located on the beach on the northern peak of the city (of the island actually) opposite the (guess it..) aquarium and about 100m from the casino. Parking is easy in the area.
The beach underneath is really nice, more clean than I thought a city beach would be and really lively.
It's about 15-20 min walk to the old town but dont let that put you off.
I paid about 65eur/double room w/seaview which is actually a bargain since hotels near may charge double or more.

All in all, it's not a bad choice if you can find it in a good price.
I certainly enjoyed my stay and might try it again when in Rhodes!

This hotel has a fantastic location i Rhodos,Greate beaches just outside the door.
We booked with seaview and thats recomended.

Acyually thats the only thing we recomend with this hotel,it`s not a 4 star hotel at all its completley run down and need urgently a total makeover. Furniture and and all interior are from mid 70`s.
Bed in our room was hard as plywood and also furniture in our room was dirty and full of satins.
Bed linnen was changed every day together with towels.
Air conditon worked wery good:-)

We can write a lot about this hotel, but there are other hotels near by and they are mutch better with the same location.

Take a look at the pictures and you can decide if you want to stay at this run down 4 star hotel.....

This delightful location couldn't be more convenient for the beach. Short walk (15-20 mins) to the Old Town citadel area which is full of quaint alleyways dating back to Byzantine times. Don't go expecting a boutique flash city hotel but it is very clean, the rooms are spacious and the staff are helpful and friendly (not batting an eyelid when we asked to change rooms to the other side of the hotel as the first room was too near the lift) The receptionist gave us the keys to 2 alternative rooms one of which had a double bed (result!) as most rooms are twin bedded only. There is access to the swimming pool at the neighbouring Cactus Hotel which was pleasant if a little busy. We found the breakfast to be more than adequate and the terrace was charming - a sunny spot from which to watch the world go by (mostly Scandanavian and German tourists). We would recommend the Boudoir restaurant for its modern decor, generous portions and Europop (!) and Hatzikelis Fish Taverna for authentic Greek seafood dishes, pleasant setting and unusual octopus washing-line.

We stayed a week at this hotel. The guests were mostly Scandinavian. The breakfast was fine. Excellent if you get a table outside. The staff was very friendly. The room was good. Highly recommend booking a room with a seaview for it is certainly worth the extra cost. The view was fabulous! The location could not have been better. That peninsula is definately the place to be in Rhodes! Absolutely fantastic location. You are close to a lovely beach yet just a short walk from the most interesting sites in Rhodes. Highly recommend Mike's bar around the corner!
And the Olive resteraunt around the back of the hotel.

Only negative thing was the last night we stayed at this hotel they were trying out new lights on the balconies. This was NOT a good idea as these lights were too bright so they disturbed our sleep. Not sure if they kept these lights or not. Hopefully not as it really made a big difference as to whether I would return to that hotel or not but I would definately return to that area if not at the Siravast then another hotel next store.

Just come back after a week's holiday at this hotel.

The good points for the hotel were the location to the Old Town / harbour. It was just across the road from the beach and within easy walking distance to all the restaurants and bars. The hotel was in a quite area and not on the windy side of the island. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful or polite and the maid kept our room as clean as possible.

The real down side to this hotel for us, was the fact we were on the first floor (which had no patio door to the balcony, just a very large sliding window) and to sit on the balcony you had to use a chair to climb up through the window to get there, as did all the other rooms on the first floor.

The other down sides were the air conditioning (which was switched off on the 23rd Sept) it was still 28 degrees outside. We had to sleep with the window open, which let in mosquitos and I had a few bites. The breakfast was just OK. Poor selection of fruit (watermelon and grapes, which were full of pips)and tomatoes were only served on the first day with the peppers and olives. We ended up buying our own to take down to breakfast.. The bathroom was small with a huge basin, which the door banged against every time you went in. The shower curtain was not long enough, so all the water from the shower came into the room. My husband pushed all the water down the small grid in there after each shower using his hand. There were twin beds but only one had a headboard and the lampshade on the table light needed replacing.

I would not stay here again, even if we had been alocated a room on a different floor (with a patio door to the balcony) as there was no atmosphere in the hotel. Nobody seemed to sit in the hotel of an evening and many corners had been cut. The hotel next door was much better.

We did request a high room with a sea view but were informed the hotel was fully booked and they couldn't move us.

Plenty of places to eat close by and would recommend The Olive Restaurant.
