“lovely relaxing trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

we left Liverpool at -3 degrees landed in Rhodes with a temp of 25 degrees had a lovely relaxing time. If you want there is always plenty going on around the pool area. we found the food in the resturant always varied and plentyful. The complex was clean and there was always someone around cleaning.
The outside bars around the complex were mainly closed, but this was the last week of the season, but I would imagine in the peak season the place is buzzing.
would recomend we had a wonderful holiday

We did not book this hotel as we and many others were consolidated into this 3 star hotel. The bed room was Ok if small and old fashioned - candlewick bed spread!. Food for a AI was OK and good choice. Red wine was dreadful!! - so had to buy bottles of wine.
Staff were great!! couldn't do enough. Entertainment was amateurish. Position on the beach good.

Room Tip: One facing the sea.

Just come back from Avra. Despite being the last week of the season we had the best family holiday ever. It was cold and overcast but the entertainment crew seemed to have a way to make us forget that and we thoroughly enjoyed all the entertainment programme especially the water polo despite the cold. The hotel and food was better than we exptected and the animation team surpassed our expectations. Chris was an absolute star as were Artur and Elin, not forgetting Oscar. Congratulations to Avra for an unforgettable week. Thanks!

Nice location, close to airport and Rhodes city (a couple of km's).

Staff and animation team worked hard and where very friendly with lot's of smiles in spite of last week of the season. Cleaners did a great job keeping the premises and rooms clean.

Food wasn't always very impressive but no one ever left the canteen hungry. Ice cream, drinks and snacks available throughout the day. A little more variation and some more kids oriented food in combination with a notch or two higher in attention to food quality and I would be tempted to give this hotel top rating for family holidays. Increasing the quality of coffee and drinks would be another easy way for the hotel management to earn higher ratings.

The hotel is in need of some refurbishment here and there but if some of that is looked after during the winter the hotel should be fit for fight again next season.

I would recommend this hotel to friends!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the inner yard helps families with kids keep an eye on the kids.

The hotel is situated in a small resort called Ixia which is 10 mins by taxi from Old Rhodes Town & has plenty of bars, restaurants & shops within 500m so is in an ideal location.

The hotel is right on the beach & has a great pool so has the best of both worlds. Beach is pebbles so you will need aqua shoes or crocks (you can buy locally for 5 euros) to get into the sea easily without hurting your feet. Once in the sea within 6 feet you will have sand under your toes which is lovely. Sea is very calm most days, very clean so it's lovely.

We stayed in bungalow 701 & the room was ideal. Big room, plenty of storage space & was cleaned every day. Only complaint was that the shower was only over the bath so not ideal but plently of hot water at all times. Air con was meant to be turned off after 15 sept or chargeable but we had it in the room & no extra cost.

We went AI & food was a buffet style & there was always plently of choice, always the correct temperature. Yes it got a bit repetitive after 2 weeks but we went out a couple of times to local restaurants for a change - the best steak ever at Romeos (a 5 min walk)!!
The drinks were non-branded so not the best but were fine. Lovely cocktails included in AI too. Wine was horrendous but with G&Ts or a Blue Lagoon who really cares?

The animation team were fabulous. Encouraged you to join in but not too pushy if you just wanted to relax. Chris, Joe (Snowy) etc all do a great job with the aqua gym, water polo, darts & evening entertainment.

All the hotel staff waiters, cleaners, bar staff were lovely, always had a smile & time for a friendly chat. Nothing was too much trouble.

Make sure you go into our Old Rhodes Town as it is beautiful. Very quaint with it's medieval walls & tiny cobbled streets. The harbour is worth visiting too & plenty of boat trips to go on if you want, Lots of bars, restaurants & shops to explore. Would recommend the Captains Table as they had a lovely restaurant in a garden & a good menu & had very good set meals. Free litre of very good wine :)

We had a great holiday & would really recommend Rhodes & this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing holidays but with options to see & do some interesting things. We spent a similar amout of money on an AI holiday to Turkey last year & we all agreed that we enjoyed this holiday more & want to come back.

Room Tip: Request a bungalow rather then in the main hotel

Just returned from our fifth visit in 3 years and can still say that this is a great choice of hotel.Dont expect the height of luxury but you will get a very well run hotel that is very clean with friendly staff (our cleaner greeted me with a kiss on the cheek and told me which room I was staying in) the bar staff remember your choice of drinks and cant do enough for you.Sachis the restaurant manager keeps the dining room running well and will always have a nice word to say and guess what they have installed new toasters (the old one took for ever) .The food is excellent with a good choice and the salads are wonderful, they have themed nights too (sea food/barbecue etc) my tip is sit outside on the terrace overlooking the sea and looking across to turkey with a glass of rose BLISS.....The entertainment team Artur Chris Elin and Joey kept me busyduring the day with beach volley water polo darts french boulle and my wife occasionally did morning gym and aqua gym when she fancied it (no pressure). The music played for the activities is sometimes played a little louder but not excessively and is varied from 1960's to present day.If you want a quiet environment then the area in front of the dining terrace is the place to be .The evening entertainment changes nightly with comedy nights, karaoke, audience participation evenings (your choice) childrens mini disco and a weekly greek evening.Once again we left with a heavy heart but a long list of new friends from all over europe thanks again Avra Beach hope to see you next year. Mark B

Room Tip: rooms over looking pool are preffered
