“Genuine fresh Greek dishes.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

Walk down the strip along the busy main road in Ixia all the restaurants strive to entice people inside, we have been to Ixia many times but it wasn't the fact that the Sirtaki was new to us that caught our attention, it appealed because of it's honest simplicity, and surprised not that we knew the proprietor and the front man but that they were realizing there dream of owning and running their own restaurant.
Having eaten many Greek meals over the years we know what we like but always look for something new. The Sirtaki had all the well known dishes and a few different ones so it came down to how they were presented and tasted. Everything that we ordered came out to us and was cooked brilliantly, a very good pork dish a bit different from anything I have had before and octopus that was perfect, tender and tasty, service was excellent from all the staff. Prices were on par compared to the competition, I would like to see them be more competitive with prices, when people discover this place and find that not only can they eat great food but could also make their euro budget go further this place would guarantee bums on seats, particularly as there are so many hotels offering fully inclusive, those people are less willing to part with cash to sample even the best real Greek cuisine.
We hope that the passion and quality at The Sirtaki will injure and we will see you guys again on our next trip to Ixia.
Top Tip if you love real Greek food, travel out to one of the villages like Marisa, about a 15 min drive away, soak up the local atmosphere and eat for less than half the price of any of the restaurants in the main tourist resorts.

“Food not up to standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

Unfortunately we found the food we ordered very poor, no taste to it. Definately would not eat there again as the food was very bland and not up to standard

“Not sure why such high reviews”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

Food meze just ok, service ok, price ok. Traditional taverna with good friendly service. However it's set on the wide of a main road I wouldn't recommend because of the location. If you're on holiday why would you want to hear cars go up and down.

“undoubtedly the culinary highlight of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013 via mobile

Our first night in Ixia shortly after landing we strolled the main road with all the beach front hotels (we stayed at olympic palace) and restaurants to explore. We quickly noticed 2 main characteristics of the restaurants in the area (and most of Rhodes island unfortunately) : aggressive men standing at the entrance of their restaurant badgering you to come inside (even when from across the street!) We had already eaten but in any case were put off by the 2nd common qualifier: huge billboards outside each restaurant with large pictures of every dish on the menu, a horrible, un-classy pattern. After successfully avoiding a dozen or so of these restaurants we were surprised to see one that stood out - no pictures and no one flashing a creepy grin waving us inside! Our curiosity lit, we looked through a menu and inside: a neat and pleasant-looking interior with an open view of the kitchen and the white-hat-wearing cooks which gave an overall clean and professional impression - a refreshing exemption to a slew of unappealing neighbors on this Ixia beach road. We decided we would return another night for dinner, and this only materialized on our last night in Greece. The service was exceptional - an extremely friendly and colorful staff that made us welcome immediately. They were even funny and entertaining, an unexpected bonus. The food was great and the prices decent. We engorged ourselves on multiple appetizers of stuffed mushrooms (amazing!), stuffed peppers, zucchini balls (delicious), and a perfect grilled haloumi. If you plan to order Frappe at the end of your meal be prepared for quite a story and the revelation that this is not just cold coffee to these people, but a source of national pride? If they werent so funny perhaps we would find this excessive but we spent 2 hours here and felt that it was perhaps 20 minutes. Easily a top reccomendation to friends visiting Rhodes and left us with the sweetest taste at the close of a wonderful and romantic vacation. Just go there!
