“great two star base”

Rhodos Beach Hotel

This was a good two star hotel , with four star reception staff. We felt up-lifted every day by the friendliness and consideration of the reception staff and 'George ' the waiter in the snack bar. However if you are expecting anything other than basic rooms, which are clean and functional, you will be dissapointed. Breakfast is a kind of school dinners canteen affair. Food is average. The pool is small and has a view of a very rundown hotel to the far side which wasn't very pretty, but we soon stopped noticing it.

We had dinner at the sister hotel next door where the food was good but got repetitive after a few days. The real find was Loot; just go right as you leave the hotel and you can't help being drawn in by Yamis the owners warm smile and the wonderful family atmosphere! It was my son's 16th birthday while we were in Rhodes and we went to Loot to celebrate it. As you can imagine teenagers are tough to please but a brilliant night was had by all, (including a birthday cake supplied by Yamis and a very roudy chorus of Happy birthday). Needless to say the food was excellent to!

I would go back to Rhodes in a heart beat, and if I was looking for a friendly no frills hotel close to town I'd certainly go to this one again.

We had the best holiday we've had staying at this hotel! Very clean n friendly, great location, n wasn't the breeze just brilliant!! Only a 6 minute walk to New Town 20 to the Old, which you have to visit ( we went twice for a day) Beach not really suitable for kiddies as pebbly n shore slopes quickly downwards, 10ft out n up to your neck! We ate quite a bit at the Belvedere, just because it was a buffet, you are given rather large platefuls when eating in the town!! Never had one bad meal though! Loot just down the road is good as is Belmo Palace, left fork by petrol station, down road on left hand side, very good value. 7 Euros for 2 sunbeds n parasol on beach, 1euro each for bottle of water n sunbeds at Belvedere ( early birds get the parasols)One tip though, pay the extra for a seaview room as the rooms round the back are not so good, we had one for late checkout. OK for that, but a lot smaller than the one we had. Cost us 30 Euros, dear, BUT we had it till 10pm which was great for us! All the staff were brilliant from the cleaners to the supermarket, always a smile n a greeting!! The same in the Belvedere!! 8 Euros for a buffet meal, so you can have as little or as much as you want, perfick! Relax n enjoy! Kalimera! Kalispera! n Kalinitha!

Just got back from the windy island of Rhodes! (10 July 2006) The weather was fantastic - if you like the wind. We stayed in Rhodes Town which is mainly facing Turkey and can be incredibly windy - that didnt bother us as the weather was in the 40s. The wind kept the tempreature down but done nothing for your hair - and watch out its deceiving you can easily get burnt. The beach here is beach pebbles, so we ventured slightly round the island up towards the marina where the beach is more like fine grit and the wind less. We stayed at the Rhodos Beach Hotel, which is three star and deserved everyone of them. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms - although basic - were clean and tidy and the towels were changed three times in the week we stayed. We were on the 5th floor (top) and the wind howled round the building like a horror movie but didnt stop us sleeping. The pool there could do with a bit of fancying up as its quite basic but a total suntrap. However we found the pool to be smaller than the appearance given in the brochure we booked from - Olympic.
Old Rhodes Town is delightful with shops for fancy flipflops, gorgeous jewellery both 14/18k or "junk" jewellery made of Swarovski crystals and the general tourist souveniers. You have to smile sweetly and walk on otherwise youd be having a drink in everyones bar! However we found a fantastic restaurant that did cater for genuine greek food (rather than chips, pizza and spagetti which can be found everywhere) and I would recommend you take the time to visit Romeos in the Old Town. Food and staff were excellent.
As for Olympic - make sure you use another tour operator - but thats another story!

“Just returned from Rhodes”

Just returned from our two week holiday at the Rhodes Beach Hotel. Had a wonderful time in our fifth floor room overlooking the sea. Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis but had a meal (cost 8 euros each) at the Belvedere Hotel, sister hotel where all meals are served. Very good, plenty of choice but a bit chaotic as both hotels use this restaurant. Breakfast at Rhodes Beach was very good. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, a selection of the usual cold meats and cheeses, a variety of cereals and lovely fresh bread and preserves. Unfortunatly no toast! The rooms were cleaned daily but you wouldn't know it but for the beds being made and a quick mop through. Fresh toiletries and towels regularly. The staff at this hotel are extremely friendly and cannot do enough for you and at the end of your holiday you are asked to name the most helpful member of staff so this accounts for everyone doing their very best for the guests. The beach opposite the hotel is very windy and indeed is known as windy beach but further along the coast the wind ceases and it is much hotter, but we found this wind to be a godsend in the 32 degree sunshine even though we had air conditioning (charged at 6 euros daily). There is plenty to see and do in Rhodes and we had a trip to Symi island which is beautiful and well worth a visit. We hired a car during our second week, this was really inexpensive and we managed to see the whole of the island including the mountains which was fantastic. Finally if you stay at the Rhodes Beach you must have a meal at 'Loot' Restaurant only a couple of doors away. This family owned restaurant must serve the best food on the island at ridiculously low prices with a fabulous sunset thrown in for free.

I stayed at the Rhodes Beach Hotel (near Rhodes Town) in Oct. 2005 for two nights. It was only 45 Euros/night! Although this hotel wasn't the cleanest or fanciest I've seen, they were kind, respectful, friendly, and my room was cool (most hotels on this island won't let guests use A/C after Oct. 1--it was over 90 degrees and humid!). The view of the beach was lovely too, and it was located a short walk from the historic Rodos Town.

Do yourself a favor and stay near Rodos Town, if you go to Rhodes at all. I wasn't thrilled with Rhodes in general, but loved the old town--very charming.

If you swim in the ocean here, beware of strong currents and many jellyfish--I got stung four times in less than 10 seconds! But, the beach is beautiful.
