“There are much better hotels than this one at 5 star in Greece”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Just returned from 10 days at this hotel. We arrived at hotel at 01.00 hrs to find one lift out of order,(which German People, waiting for lift, had said was not working the day before)! We were on the fourth floor but lift would not open on 4th floor so had to go back down to get assistance from reception. One elderly man at reception came up the lift with us, and once again doors of lift failed to open, therefore luggage had to be carried up a flight of stairs,we are aged 67yrs and 73 yrs !!!
We were booked in a Twin room but were given a double room,I showed my booking receipt to prove this, but he said he was not responsible for the allocation of rooms. We went to reception in the morning and they must have realized how angry we were as we were given another room on the 5th floor in a far more suitable room. The air conditioning worked but continuous drips of water were driping from it soaking the carpet, and curtains, and dangerously near to elecrtic socket.!I reported this to reception and engineer despatched, problem not resolved, and continued to drip for two days until we left hotel. The Greek people observe the tradition of Siesta which starts at 1.0.p.m.-5.0.p.m.which is supposed to be quiet.....its not far from it.There needs to be signs up to make people aware along corridors,it was very noisy. There are a lot of Russians, and Egyptians at hotel. There were people complaining of young boys vomiting on second floor, and generally being a nuisance due to too much alcohol. The food was good but repetitive, and all inclusive wine at table was un drinkable.THe pool bar area was too small for amount of people there, also pool area, with sunbeds almost touching.Greece is going through a bad economic recession, and this is CLEARLY visable, the beaches which are a mixture of black sand mixed with grit, and shingle and are filthy, strewn with plastics and never cleaned up.Pavements are dirty, with dog pooh, and litter. The only saving grace was the lovely old walled town, this was lovely with restaurants, and shops ,and masses of history.I have been to Greece three times, and this was by far the worst I have seen it over a period of 10 yrs.The boat trips to Lindos were awful, with poor overworked donkeys being made to pull people up,and down the steep hills, and not in good condition.I would never return to this area of Greece again,or the hotel. This is probably a 2-3 star hotel by Greek standards, the Savoy in London is 5 star !!!! and this hotel was certainly not that.!!!.We are retired people and have travelled all over the world sometimes to third world countries,so are used to seeing a fair bit of life.

Room Tip: Go for top floor 5th. we had room that looked along whole of beach area, and sea.The block overlookin...

I just have to share with community my opinion on this hotel - especially as I was sort of afraid what I would get there after reading mixed reviews. Let me tell you - this hotel is most pleasant surprise I had recently on holidays - excellent amenities, great food, professional and friendly staff, impeccably clean pools and rooms... Food was a really surprise as it was delicious, with plenty of choices (Greek grill, sea fish, usually more than 10 different salads with various local and international dressings, yummy local sweets). All inclusive is really all inclusive - substantial one in full sense of the word meaning that you should expect small bites throughout the day, ice cream, cookies, short and long drinks - cocktails included... I enjoyed excellent Greek/local type of coffee but you will certainly find a choice of your own.

Our room was 253 and it had absolutely fabulous view on West Coast of Aegean Sea. However, the sea was troubled most of the time and you should not expect much from the Aegean shore unless you are surfer.

For me the most touching was a feeling that managers and all the staff are doing absolutely everything to restore the old shine of this hotel and regain reputation it used to have. This common spirit you may feel everywhere in the hotel - from restaurant to swimming pool and all inclusive bar. If you come to Mitsis Grand - you will see what I am talking about.

To wrap up - in the city of Rhodes this is probably the most beautiful hotel. Still, my advice is that you should not plan to go to city Rhodes hotels (including this one) if you have toddlers as Faliraki hotels offer much better amenities for them. Mitsis Grand is absolutely perfect hotel for people wanted to mix vacation in Greece with touch of ancient and modern Greek culture and history - and you will be overwhelmed with it.

Room Tip: Ask for room 253 - great sea view.

At the beginning here is my opinion of the Hotel Grading. By UK, USA and Middle/Far East standards it is not 5 star - Greece (and France and Italy) are a bit generous. Thomas Cook rate the Grand 4 star - and it is a good 4 star.
For exploring the old and the new towns it is in a perfect position - just a 15 minute walk if you can avoid the shops!!! The sea front location is excellent for sun-set watching.
The public areas are spacious and well appointed and everywhereis spotlessly clean. The 2 outdoor pools and very well maintained and at most times sub-beds are available - no charge.
Sun or shade can be found - fixed umbrellas around the pool and plenty of trees to climb under in the garden.
The main dining room is light, bright, clean and airy. The food selection at each meal is good and you would be hard pressed not to find something to your liking. At dinner, when the hotel is full, it can be a bit frenetic so try and pick your time. The Italian and Chinese restaurants are excellent - good food and table service. The Greek wine is very good. Just one complaint which makes the Grand NOT 5 star. The dinner dress code of no shorts is not enforced. Some guests were, in our opinion, not dressed suitably - perhaps the great cross section of nationalities has a bearing,
The all-inclusive bar serves a wide variety of local drinks and is open from 10,00 to 24.00 - very generous.
Now to the Staff. They could not be better - friendly (even when busy), helpful and cheerful. This description covers all sectors.
Our bedroom vas very spacious - acres of wardrobes and drawers -and carpeted. The large bathroom was well appointed. Bedding and towels are changed daily.

Room Tip: Splash out and go for a sea view room.

This is a lovely hotel in a lovely position just across the road from the beach and about a 20 minute stroll from the old town. The rooms are spacious very clean and with a hairdryer and fridge. There is a bath and overhead shower with plenty of hot water always available. The hotel has 2 outdoor pools 1 indoor pool, gym and massage facilities. The staff were happy helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food too was very good with plenty of choice and there are two al a carte restaurants (an Italian and a Chinese) which you have to book the day before. The only thing that let this hotel down for us was that each day it appeared to get busier and busier in the dining room. In fact 9 days out of the 14 we were there. We then realised that guests were coming in from the two sister hotels the 4 star Petit Palais and the 4 star La Vita Beach for their evening meal. This meant large queues to get into the dining room (which we didn't really mind too much) but the queues to get around the buffet tables were dreadful. This made the evening meal very uncomfortable just because of the vast number of people. We tried going at different times hoping the queues would be smaller but they seemed to get bigger each day and in the end it was the same at breakfast. Also the dress code seemed to go out of the window, people were coming in to dinner in shorts and flipflops etc. There is no mention that this may occur on their website or in any of the brochures. We felt this was very unfair on the 5 star paying guests but congratulate the staff for doing their upmost to make everyone feel special. .

I visited Mitsis Grand for 3 nights after a 5 week beach holiday in Pefkos.
From the moment I entered the hotel I was in heaven. I love the opulent décor and spaciousness.
The rooms were comfortable and luxurious.
Every thing you needed was there.
Hairdryer,fridge,tv,radio,air conditioning included.
The buffet reakfast could not have been improved.
The evening meal buffet too was the best I have ever eaten.
1 indoor pool and 2 lovely outdoor pools all beautifully kept.
Rooms cleaned each day with fresh towels
Staff were very friendly and professional.
A perfect end to my Rhodes adventure thank you !

Room Tip: I was in room 180 and view not good that was the only downside but I didn't mind as it was only...

Very close to everything, nice staff and good food.
Grand mitsis have everything you need in a hotel and I would recommend it to anyone who likes the comfort all inclusive offers you.
If you're going here you should consider taking a room with ocean view because it's truly stunning!
