“Authentic Greek cuisine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2014 via mobile

Great authentic traditional greek cuisine, we ate several afternoons and every time was great, we never had the same dish two times in a row. Great fresh fish, baked potatoes and veggies! A must-see in the old city of Rhodes! Ask Mimika and Philimonas (the owners) for advice on what to have.

“The is a great little restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

We stumbled upon this little restaurant and went back the next day it was so good. Try the calamari, the chickpea fritters, the tzatziki, meatballs, feta, stuffed aubergine - try everything. Its all good and very reasonably priced. On our second night we heard another guest mention that she had dined at Boukia before. We weren't surprised. Its a pleasant laid back delicious experience.

“Loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Nothing I can add to the other positive reviews except my own praise. We ate here once for lunch and once in the evening. Various pre prepared dishes are available which are simple but make the best of the fresh ingredients. The place is small but was always busy with locals and tourists. Give it a try and enjoy.

“Loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

Boukia Boukia (Mnoukia Mnoukia) was our best experience of a real Greek taverna as it should be. In Platonos Street off Socratous Street. You'll find hundreds of smarter, more 'designer', more expensive places in the Old Town ... and there are waiters calling your attention elsewhere in the main squares. None of that hassle here. The Boukia Boukia is an authentic small family run restaurant, and recommended by many of the small hotels in the Old Town for its cooking. Brother and sister, Filimonas and Dimitra run the place - and they invited us into the kitchen to choose what we would like. No pretension, no high prices. We paid £20 for a lovely meal for two which included half a litre of retsina. Filimona and Dimitra were both very friendly and helpful and obviously took pride in their local tradition and cuisine. If you are looking for same-old, same-old with hordes of crowds - go elsewhere. If you want to try local and traditional - then Boukia Boukia and a handful of other places in the Old Town still offer this kind of charm and authenticity. I will definately go back. Really worth supporting a business like this I feel.

“As a Greek taverna should be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

No one tries to entice you inside, there's no hassle, it's all Greek home cooking, excellent prices, view what's in the kitchen that day then decide what to eat (traditional way of doing things), it's off the main 'drag' so quiet, fantastic food, nice folk and there's none of that "pretending to be Greek" stuff you get at bigger places in the OId Town; it is Greek 100% and a small business worth supporting.
