“Helpful staff, wonderful hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

I can recommend this hotel as it'd good value for money, has and excellent location and friendly and helpful staff. Felt like we were staying in a proper Greek town, rather than in a tourist resort. The pool was big enough, everything was comfortable and worked well.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the swimming pool side rather than the street.

I stayed at the Amphitryton Hotel in September 2013. The staff were courteous, friendly and could not do enough for you. The rooms were simple yet modern and above all clean. The hotel was located five minutes away from Rhodes's impressive beaches and two minutes walk away from the retail district. The Amphitryton Hotel provided a delicious and varied menu. Although the pool was not large it was well maintained. All in all an enjoyable hotel that added to an unforgettable holiday.

Stayed at Amphitryon in Sept 2013 and I can say its location is ideal for anyone that wants to enjoy the city of Rhodes as well as take boat trips to nearby islands. We wanted to be close to shops, nightlife and Rhodes old town (a must see) rather than stay outside the city. It also meant we were walking distance from the port, and we took boat trips to a number of great nearby locations. The best one that everyone has to visit... Simi Island! SO BEAUTIFUL!

The hotel was great and the staff friendly and helpful. Some attention to detail is needed but I guess it was the hotel's first summer in operation so not everything was completed.

I would definitely go back to Rhodes town and definitely stay at Amphitryon again!

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Without exception, all the staff were friendly and courteous, especially Nico in the bar/restaurant. Our room was of a good size, clean and comfortable; breakfast was extensive, but the greatest praise must go to the dinner: for a promotional bargain of 10Euros each we enjoyed the most sumptuous of buffets - a delicious bargain. The location is excellent, being adjacent to both old and new Rhodes town, harbour and beach. Some early reviews were critical of this hotel, however, our experience showed that these comment arose from startup teething troubles (the hotel had been empty and closed for twelve years and the refurb had been rushed to open in time for the season). We are torn: while we would like to keep this place a little secret from others we also feel that we must recommend this little gem on all levels - comfort, décor, rooms, food and most especially the staff.

I visited Rhodes in the middle of June and had booked a room for two in Amphitryon Boutique Hotel. Everything was great about it. Very clean, nice design and very good plan of the rooms. But all these wouldn't matter if the personnel wasn't the same. Everyone from the stuff ,with no exception, were friendly and very helpful. Honestly never had come across such an incredible personnel. Dedicated to their job, to make our holidays even better! The location is ideal for anyone who wants to be in the center of Rhodes town. Is located 5 minutes walking from mantraki (a central place of town), less than 5' from the cantral bus station, exactly in the heart of the main marketplace, banks and withdrawing machines everywhere around it, taxi station right in front of the main entrance of the hotel and so many other facilitation for those who want to do most of the activities by foot. These two factors, personnel and location of the hotel, are the most important in my opinion and if i come again in Rhodes definitely i will book in the same hotel. So Amphitryon Hotel is highly recommended by me to enjoy your staying in Rhodes.

We stayed at the hotel 3 times during our recent trip to Greece.
We stayed 2 nights then visited Tilos and because of lack of ferries had to return to Rhodes for a night before going to Symi. We booked back in at the Amphitryon as we were so pleased with it first time round.( We booked through a booking site.)
The hotel has been totally renovated after years of being empty and this was the first season.
We have rarely come across such genuinely friendly staff without exception. Nothing was to much trouble and the lady on reception of an evening was wonderful.
The food is buffet service but all very good. We ate once of an evening and upon our return trips decided we would book half board. You will need to go down for your meal earlier rather than later ( I think it was served 7-9pm ) as they don`t cook too much so that there is not too much waste and your choice maybe slightly limited, but there is still plenty to choose from.
The position is ideal being only a few minutes walk from the bus station which will get you almost anywhere on the island. The trees/park bordering the old medieval town are just across the road so again a few minutes walk and also the same to Mandraki harbour / promenade for day cruises etc. The rooms on the front are noisier due to traffic during the day but with doors closed it did not disturb us during the night and I am a light sleeper! The sun is at the front most of the day and the back rooms I think are shaded, although the pool at the back of the hotel does have the sun moving around it.
There are a few nice tables outside by the pool if you wish to eat outside (which we did) morning and evening.
Somebody on here mentioned that it had been renovated on the cheap I don`t think I would really agree. Yes there were a couple of things we noticed like some filling needed putting between the door frame and the tiles in one bathroom but I would say it was more like a snagging list. Nothing to deter from your enjoyment or comfort. We were allowed to stay in our room untill 6pm as we had a late evening flight which was so helpful.
We would not hesitate recommending or staying at this hotel again.
Thank you to all the staff.

Room Tip: Rooms on front noisier during the day but no problem with doors closed of a night and have the sun m...

My husband and I stayed in October. Great sized room in a fantastic location close to old city and restaurants outside old city. There was a lovely man who ran the restaurant and bar and he always had a smile for the customers.
