I visited Rhodes with my wife to see what it looked like after having been there 33 and 36 years ago respectively. We had as a prerequisite that we wanted to stay within the old walled town as we are more interested in history than beaches. Through a Swedish website we found the small guest-house Kristinas Rum (Christina's Rooms). It is a very old but renovated house with a very quiet location close to the Koskinou Gate. The room was rather large with good twin beds, shower, cooking plate and refrigarator. There is also a new AC but that's not needed in May. I would say the room standard is good but the bathroom is somewhat small and has minor defects. You fix your own breakfast through shops in the vicinity. There is even a bakery very close by. Two terraces are common areas where you can have your breakfast and relax. The owner visits the guest-house most days and is happy to give you restaurant tips etc. You are well within walking distance to the other parts of Rhodes Town and its beaches. All in all it is extremely good value for money, since the price was only 280 euro a week for the room.
