“Have been before but wont be back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Had been to this hotel twice before and had a great time and had recommended it to many people but on my recent visit with my family (a party of 15) i fount that it had lowered its standards , the water park was really good and the food great but the main restaurant's food had gone downhill and was not as good as before and too many flies hanging about the food which was uncovered , the animation team were no way as good as before and the evening entertainment was very poor, i dont know whats happened to this hotel but what i do know is that i wont be back and will not recommend this hotel to anyone anymore.

Never have i been on an all inclusive holiday that's so well run, clean, excellent food choices this place has it all.The animation team work tirelessly from dawn till dusk keeping young and old occupied. The food in the main dining area was fresh with plenty of choices to suit all, then there was the two pool snack bars where there was a good choice of hot and cold food to keep you going throughout the day,the bar staff are very friendly and always smiling, the beer was good, cold and kept its head well even in the plastic cups, all spirits are available from 10:00-24:00 and the cocktails are just lovely especially from the cocktail bar.Overall this hotel was excellent to say there was 1200 people there i never had to Que once. The water park is brilliant, very clean, very safe with plenty of life guards around each pool/slides,it kept my 8 year girl very busy trying every slide all day

Room Tip: ask for room by the water park

My first review of this hotel was on 8 October 2010 and I thought it was excellent, this time there have been changes. Firstly the water park is excellent, the staff who guard the gate and the life guards are really on the ball, it must be the safest water park in Europe. The food is even better than last time and the soups are to die for, not the usual same coloured guess the flavour types. The bar staff are friendly and as efficient as children will allow them to be when trying to serve adults ha ha. My favourite story is the man who cleans the floor and collects rubbish in the water park, one day as he was passing I jokingly said "Two beers please", whereupon to his great amusement and mine he appeared grinning with two beers for us. You can't buy humour like that. But then that is the nature of the Sun Palace. My only criticism is that this hotel now needs a tiny bit of TLC, The panels for flushing the toilets are missing in some rooms but are still functional when you have guessed which plastic button to push, and one guest I spoke to had no toilet seat but was allocated another room. Perhaps it is because so much has been spent on the water park that maintenance has taken a back seat, even the beautiful glass water fountain in the reception area was no longer working. These are only little things and the only faults (Being an over critical type) that I could find. So overall I would say a better experience than last time and I would definitely go back. We had room 105a which had a hairdryer for the ladies and was nice and quiet at night. I would also just like to mention Sophia's tours across the road, they are genuine friendly people who will go out of their way to accommodate your requirements, I can recommend the trips by boat to both Lindos and Symi.

Room Tip: We had room 105a which had a hairdryer and was nice and quiet at night.

Lovely hotel, our room was on the ground floor in the main hotel, the room was fine although the bathroom was in need of an update but nothing too major. The water park was fantastic, the kids really enjoyed it. We found the food in the main hotel was ok maybe not that much choice for fussy eaters. My children struggled with the kids section as not a lot of choice. The hotel was very busy at meal times so we chose to have a lay in then go to the water park for breakfast at 10. The food was lovely at the water park, freshly made pizza etc for lunch with food available till 6 there with lots of other things to choose from. The entertainment was ok but maybe a little repetitive . The beach is just a 10 minute walk away with watersports available which was definitely worth a break away from the pool area. The staff were all very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the water park are newer

Our first time in Greece and would definitely go back - Our room was in the older part of the hotel. Although I've read some horror reports, we found it pretty basic but more than adequate. Rooms cleaned and towels changed every day. Food and drink both good - especially the snack bar at the water park and Andreas in the cocktail bar was great too. The waterpark was a great attraction that the adults enjoyed as much as the kids
The best thing about the hotel was the entertainment team - Brett, Lamar and the girls worked from 10am til well after midnight 6 days a week - plenty of activities during the day and some light hearted entertainment in the evenings (don't miss Aurel's fire-eating/glass walking show) and they always have time to chat to the kids or get photo's taken
Only downside of the hotel was the toilets in the main reception/lobby. They had no locks on the doors, some didn't have toilet seats and got a bit smelly by the time it got to the evening.
Will definitely consider going back there next year!!

Room Tip: Pete's water-sports at the beach gave good prices and were very professional

Lovely Hotel. Everyone very friendly. Hotel very clean and rooms cleaned daily. The main restaurant was great a different Theme every night (Italian,Chinese,Greek,East meets West, BBQ) something for all tastes could not fault anything. Water park was brilliant the only issue was the wave pool tiles very slippery just had to be careful in the shallow part. Life guards ran a great system looking after the slides and making sure all were safe, they were very polite and friendly. Pool towels included at waterpark for First Choice customers. Hotel was within walking distance of shops and bars etc A great holiday had by all and would definitely go back. Thank you Sun Palace and your great staff!!!

My husband and I visited the Sun Palace in 2010 for our honeymoon and we loved our stay. Since then the water park has been built so as a last miniute holiday we when with our son. We cannot fault our room, it was in the newly built block so the air conditioning was really good. The food was very nice, a lot of traditional geek food. The alcoholic drinks and cocktails where lovely. The waterpark is amazing. The food is amazing and the stories about that fresh pizza are true! The lifeguards are amazing and helpful. I'm not a big slides person but they really helped me.
Now for the negatives:
1. OMG THE TOILETS!! The toilets in the lobby are disgusting! No seats, no locks, frosted glass doors. Because of this we ended up spending less time downstairs than we would have liked.
2. The snacks after the evening meal where not great. When we came previously there was sliced loaf cake and ham and cheese on white rolls. The brown bread is not so great.
3. The charge for the safe is pretty extortionate.

All in all we enjoyed ourselves. We like the more traditional feel of the place but we did get the feeling that they couldn't keep up with the larger demand. Some standards had slipped. We where planning on visiting next year for 2 weeks but the fact that our 13 year old will be charged as an adult and our visit this year has put doubts in our mind.
