We booked the room almost 6 months ago and the price was the cheapest and the review was over 8. It was a low cost price so nothing was included. I didn't know there is no air-con when I booked the room but we could sleep very well at night with the opened balcony door. We could pay extra for the air-con but it wasn't necessary for us. Rhodes is very windy so we didn't have problem with the heat. Zsuzsanna and Mike picked us up at the airport with a charge of 20euro which is cheaper than taxi. If you book the room directly on their website, I was told they will pick you up for free. They both were very friendly, gave us lots of usual tips on the way to the hotel.
The first view of the hotel wasn't a WOW, the paint of the outside wall peeled off but we didn't expect a luxury hotel to the price we paid.
About the room, very clean, there is a small LCD TV but only Greek channels. I talked to Mike about this and he said this will be improved one day soon. The bathroom looks old but it was clean and water was strong enough. There was sometimes no hot water at night but it was hot enough without taking shower with hot water. The balcony was lovely, hugh with a small table and 2 chairs and the view was wonderful... you can sit naked on the balcony, nobody will see :) (except the neighbors from left and right). There is a small fridge in the room, unbelievably cold!!!! We put a bottle of mineral water into the freezer every day and brought it to the beach, so we could have ice water under 40 degree! The house keeping cleaned the room every day with fresh bed linen and towels. The room was fantastic and we had almost nothing to complain.
The pool is big enough for a small hotel with 50+ rooms. Not many people stayed at the pool so we could find the sunbed easily. Beach balls and air beds were free to use as well. As said, the pool was always quiet so we could swim alone sometimes.
The hotel is on the hill but very quiet. You need at least 10 to 15 minutes to reach the beach but we enjoyed our walk every day. There is a lovely family owed restaurant called 'Briges' (just few minute walk on downhill of the hotel). The foods were delicious and the price wasn't expensive and all staffs were friendly. A must visit restaurant!!!
In general, the hotel is top! I read some negative feedback here and to be fair to Telhinis, I guess some people compared this hotel with a 5-star hotel?! To be honest, this is just 2-Star and you cannot expect a bellboy to open the door for you! They ask you to leave the key if you go out I didn't feel weird at all. Some people could have left their handbags in the restaurant, so there are also people who forgot their keys on the beach. To avoid extra cost for the hotel or risk for yourself, I could imagine why they asked us to do. I was a stewardess before, I stayed at hotel more than at home. Even I am no longer a stewardess now but I travel at least 4 times a year. I stayed sometimes at 5 star hotel and sometimes just 1 star hostel. I will say Telhinis is a wonderful 2 Star hotel (I will give them even 3). It's worth the money (please try to book early enough to get better price).
