Me and my boyfriend have just arrived back from a weeks stay at the royal rose in Faliraki, Rhodes. I have to say we did feel slighty apprehensive about how the resort would be as we saw many groups of rowdy teenagers at the airport and we wondered what we were getting ourselves into. However, when we arrived at the hotel (4am) it was lovely and quiet, no late night noise at all, i think these groups of teenagers were all staying in the 18 - 30 or twentys hotels.
On our first morning we were happy to find the pool area quite quiet and throughout the holiday we never had to rush to grab a sunbed early in the morning. The hotel is in a great location as it is situated up a side road from the main road that runs through Faliraki. The beach is across this road and down another side road and was an easy 3 minute walk basically in a straight line. The beach is lovely and sandy and runs the entire length of the resort - a few miles! The water is crystal clear and there is loads of watersports on offer. There are also beachfront tavernas, toilets, showers and changing cubicles as it's a blue flag beach. The only thing bad thing i could say is that you have to pay 7 Euros for a pair of sunbeds, however you do get an umbrella with a little table and you can stay there allday.
From the beach there are boats to loads of destinations such as rhodes town, turkey, lindos, the waterpark and cruises to the nearby bays. One of these bays i would really recommend visiting is Anthony Quinn Bay. There are boats from faliraki beach to anthony quinn however we wanted to stay the whole day and so we got a taxi for 9 euros. It was really beautiful and is great for snorkelling, well worth a visit!
Anyway, back to the hotel. Our room was clean and spacious and we found we had plenty of storage space. The rooms have a dressing table, wardrobe, bedside tables and table and chairs all with draws. Also on the balcony/terace you get a table and chairs. The kitchen had a fridge with a freezer draw, two cooking rings and all the plates, mugs, cups, pans and cutlery you need, however there is no kettle or toaster so we boiled the water ourselves. We recieved clean towels and bed sheets everyday apart from sunday. The bathroom has a shower over bath but no shower curtain so things did get abit wet however there is a drain on the floor and you do get a bath mat so this didnt matter to us. We also received toilet roll which we werent expecting with self catering accomodation which we were pleased about, there is also a hairdryer provided in the bathroom.
The hotel has a lovely pool bar area serving everything from snacks to evening meals and plenty of drinks all at fair prices and we enjoyed several meals here. There is also computers with internet access, two pool tables, large television and safety deposit boxes. The hotel is family owned and has been for 10 years, vivienne the daughter is greek-american and speaks good english, her mother and grandparents are also working there and they all made us feel really welcome.
We would definately return to this hotel, we had a great week with great weather (up in the 30's!) thouroughly enjoyed this holiday!
